[ DATE: ??? TIME: ??? LOCATION: THE TOWER- MEZZANINE FLOOR ]

You know something is off. It is a disturbing feeling, like a small voice pulling the recesses of your memory telling you to stay alert. It creates an unexplainable agitation, a scab, an itch.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show. Examine the room:

Nothing off about this room, just an ordinary white room. It seems like whomever decorated the place was also quite pro-modernization, as the walls are incredibly white and even more incredibly boring. There’s not even any paintings on the wall, not that any Conquest horsemen these days couldn’t afford to share one of their awful modern art fads they had going.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show. Examine the table:

It’s a nice table, metallic, probably handmade and forged from the ironclad hands of some diligent Death horseman. They probably had great dreams for this table, with it’s incredibly fine wrought iron handiwork and embedded quite expensive looking jewels, and yet here the table was.

On the table is a note, basically telling you to fill out a survey regarding Dorothy.

“OPTIONAL SURVEY”

((OOC: If your horseman has time, they can fill out this survey!))

gaia_star How was Dorothy’s performance?

gaia_star Would you recommend her to anyone else?

gaia_star On a scale of 1 - 10, 1 being the least, how well would you say your memory rehabilitation process is going?

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show. Examine the window:

It’s a large rectangular window, and there’s a javelin sticking right through it, absorbed into its glass-like Fear appearance without breaking the pane of the window itself. Probably the result of some incredibly enthusiastic War Horsemen - you know how they get. Just don’t give them anything pointy or sharp and it usually wasn’t a problem.

It’s raining outside, and through the large expanse of window, you can see the shops below. You’re only on the second floor, so you can practically read every store sign. The street leading out of the The Dusk is oddly abandoned.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.Leave the Room:

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.

Nobody stops you as you leave the room, though you should probably take your cellphone with you. It seems quite useful, crammed with some interesting preinstalled apps. You’ll take a better look at these later.

Outside, the hallway is rather quiet. There’s an occasional horseman or two, in Famine-issued lab coats, carrying a combination of insect-shaped instruments. It was easy to tell which Famine horseman you were speaking too even when they had their cloaks on - you just needed to look at their choice of insect-shaped lab instrument.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show. You stop a Famine sage:

They appear relatively modern, doing a very good job of mimicking Humans, except for them forgetting to button up their shirt so their ribcage and everything inside it was still showing. They glance at the chart as if trying to be important and back at you.

“And you are?”

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show. You say your name:

“That’s great,” they don’t write down your name, and behave and speak with the ease of someone who probably spent too much time watching Human World trauma centre shows, “We’ll if you know you’re name then you’re already better off. Exit’s that way.”

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show. You don’t say your name:

“Ah,” they look a little disappointed, “You’re one of those. Just let someone know if you do remember your name. We’ll have a Dorothy system check on you later.”

One never comes, but it’s the thought that counts, right?

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show. You ask a question: ((OOC: Feel free to rp this question out in your rp post below))

They look around nervously and seem to evade your question. “As I said, we’re very busy.” It is to be noted that there’s actually nobody else around, though it wasn’t uncommon for those from Famine to refer to themselves in plural, “The memory rehabilitation progress is still in it’s trial stages. The most important thing we can do for you is insist you relax.”

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show. What is the memory rehabilitation process?

“It’s the same thing everyone is reporting. A consistent memory loss of yesterday’s events. Everything else seems on varying levels of spottiness, most likely consistent with whatever happened yesterday. Yes, I have heard the ongoing theory of if nobody remembers how could a day happen, well if you would just stare outside at the giant red crystal, and remember that yes, the day before, it was green.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show. Why am I here?

“As far as we know, everyone passed out, though several of us came to a little quicker. Probably the stronger ones. Not to imply you are not strong, but well, the information speaks for itself. If it’s any consolation, there’s plenty of others who woke up before you.”

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show. You leave:

At last, with nothing else to really learn, you via the elevator. One-hundred floors light up on the panel, all of them accessible as elevator music plays. You check your pocket for your phone - still there, and with it, your key card to your room.

gaia_crown [ Step 1: Write a response to this GM ORP ] Feel free to use the above prompts, the images and previous tutorial guide to write a response to this gm ORP, which also serves as an introduction post for your character(s). Tl;dr for anyone a little lost, your character has only pretty spotty memories of them being a horsemen (see links below to help you with current canon + ic setting if needed first). A lot of memories are still missing, and you definitely don't remember anything from yesterday.

gaia_crown [ Step 1b: Stay or leave! ]You may stay in this ORP to rp one of these two locations. If your character is staying here to rp a bit more, make sure to put the [ LOCATION NAME ] at the top of your rp post. If they are leaving, just type [ EXIT ] on their last rp post (or if leaving immediately after intro just type [ EXIT ] at the bottom of it) and read below on what to do next.

IC locations inside this ORP

[ REHAB CENTER ] Currently where you are located. You are free to search around and see if you can find another horseman’s room and harass them, there’s definitely no rule against that.

[ LOBBY ] The main reception center. There’s some nice seating areas for your horseman to wander around, and it serves as one of the busier areas of the building being the entryway, but there’s not that much visually to see.

gaia_crown [ Step 2: Reading the core meta info! ] Read the core meta info first! This will help you understand how to set up a journal and base mechanics (note the Dorothy tutorial goes over most of this, so feel free to skip the parts you've already read).

[ Step 3 ]: Familiarize yourself the meta setting info regarding this subforum (The Dusk). This is where you'll be rping! There are some premade ORPs you can join, but you are free to make your own ORPS and PRPS too!

That’s it, you’re ready for all the RP and activities! Just a note that part time jobs will not be open until the 4th of June, till then, just explore the GM ORPs and create RPS of your own/ as well as get used to the mechanics/reading/ so on. If you have any questions, there’s always a helping hand in our meta Discord HERE and if you like things a little slower, you can ask in the FAQ HERE!

Face framed by both hands, Ailee stared worriedly at the room. Everything looked so … modern and up-to-date, while she herself felt like some heathen who had never bothered to follow the latest fashion trend. Wide brown eyes continued to stare at the Famine sage until they began to squirm in place uncomfortably. “What?”

“Excuse me,” she started, her silk dress rippling as one arm reached out to take the other horseman’s shoulder, “but can you tell me where you got your clothes?” The distress in Ailee’s gaze seemed to wane in exchange for awe. She vaguely remembered that humans dressed like this and had scoffed at the little Halloween children who mimicked the trends, but as the humans seemed apt to say—when in Rome, do as the Romans do (except the Romans were dead and she wasn’t going to admit to having a hand in that, not in public at least). In the past she’d teased those who’d worn such clothes, but now that the tables had turned and Dorothy had told everyone to blend in she was beginning to fell awfully out of date. That simply wouldn’t do! She shook his shoulder again, gently but also urgently.

Unfortunately, he was quick to shake her hand away and shuffle backwards, mumbling something about being busy. She straightened up at the answer, slightly disappointed but also indignant when clearly he wasn’t.

“Oh…” She tried rummaging through her billowing sleeves to pull out her phone. “Maybe the answer is on here? Dorothy?
(If Dorothy is a program she’ll be on my phone, right?)”

If one stared long enough, it was not difficult to mistake the Death horseman as an out-of-place statue. He stood comfortably and simply—back straight and arms by his side as he suspiciously took in his new surroundings. The computer program had told him he’d lost his memories, which seemed to ring true, but it was still taking Kestrel a while to take in his surroundings. There was something about the whiteness of everything that unsettled him, but perhaps it was the partial amnesia that was the true cause of his apprehension. He gave the room another beady-eyed stare before suddenly taking a step forward.

The only somewhat-comforting thing in this room was a table with Death clan-inspired motifs. He gave the piece of furniture a look of pity as he ran a hand over its smooth surface. Why did such a splendid piece of work have to be tossed into this pro-modern room? Terrible taste.

“Hm?” Kestrel narrowed his eyes while he leaned forward to stare at the note. It appeared to be a feedback survey of sorts, and with nothing else of importance to do, he groped around for a writing utensil and took a sheet to fill out.

Quote:
How was Dorothy’s performance?
?? ? ? ? Good ? ?? ?? The handwriting is neat and printed, but obviously confused, decorated with a myriad of question marks and even circled a couple times.

Would you recommend her to anyone else?
Sure. Sure. She seems nice…? His initial answer was quickly crossed out, but after a second’s thought rewrote it again. Unfortunate.

On a scale of 1 – 10 , 1 being the least, how well would you say your memory rehabilitation is going?
A sufficient answer cannot be deduced until further rehabilitation is processed. The writing is more scribbled, obviously done in a hurry and with a bit of annoyance.

Unsure of where to turn the sheet, if he was supposed to at all, Kestrel left it on the table and confusedly left the center for someplace more interesting.

The stark white walls had hurt his eyes as though he had drunk too much - and for someone like Bjorn, that was saying something. He wondered if he really had, however, even as the sage explained to him that apparently quite a few people had perhaps tossed back a flask too many. The collective loss of memory bothered him like a gnat, but then, Bjorn had a somewhat slurry of a memory himself already, so missing a day wasn't exactly new to him. Plus it was clear that someone had gotten to begin the process of figuring out what new sorcery had fallen upon them, which left the large and burly man free to do as he pleased until someone was in particular need of him.

And thus, since his mind was already on the stuff, he figured he might as well go get a drink or three.

Bjorn fiddled with his keycard as he proceeded towards the door leading out into the rain, but he paused for several reasons. For one, some of the fashion statements were a lot different than he remembered them being last time he was at The Dusk, and even someone as blind to social trends as the Death guardian couldn't help but stare. His fur-lined leather armor and cloak looked positively archaic in comparison now, as opposed to just adorably behind the times before. Blend in, Dorothy had said. The large horseman groaned. Make that five drinks.

Approaching one of the nearest horsemen, he cleared his throat and pulled out his phone. His hand seemed to dwarf the advanced little thing, and he was careful about handling it lest he break it and find himself on the path to even more ruin. "Excuse me," he said in a deep rumble, "does this thing have a map? I overheard someone say that cellphones have the power to locate anything at a simple touch, but I am having some trouble locating its finder function...I am in need of a bar."

[ REHAB CENTER ]

Tanita stared, appalled, at the white room she found herself in. What was she doing here? How had she gotten here? She did not know and this would have to be corrected. She looked down, to verify her clothing was intact. She'd paid a great deal, after all, for these garments, her lovely classical robe. After staring at them for a long time, she came to the conclusion everything was correct, her jewels were in place, and she stood, slowly, and exited the room. She may be unsure as to what was going on, but she was positive about one thing. She would move with the grace and elegance that befit her, and her family. Her fingers ran along the rather lovely table as she walked around it. "This piece, at least, is worth a visit to this horrible disgrace of a room. Who decorated it? It's so plain." She ignored the survey, other then to flick it away from her hand when it got in the way of her hand. She eyed her phone, with the Dorothy app on it, then continued on.

When she exited the room, she took a good minute to examine the hallway, before she turned back, and grabbed her cellphone. It would be bad if she lost that, along with the memory of how on earth she had gotten here. She studied the various Famine workers, darting around with their tools. She strode up to one, and spoke. "What is going on? Why am I here?" When asked her name, she snorted and said "Tanita, of course. Now please answer my question." The answer took her aback. She turned her head, and studied the crystal. Did... she remember it being green? She frowned a little, then nodded slowly. "I see... Well. I can certainly say I don't think it's based on strength, the speed of rehabilitation." She was no weakling, after all. "Perhaps it's mental absorption of... whatever happened. Some of us have more going on in our minds, after all." She gave the clearly unhappy to chat Famine worker a look down her nose, and stalked off towards the exit, insulted by his implications. This was going to be a very strange day.

This was supposed to be her phone, but for some reason all of the installed applications drew zero familiarity to her. Maybe it was the amnesia? It would be nice if the rehabilitation could help her remember faster.

A voice broke her thoughts and she nearly dropped her phone, which meant making a show of actually throwing her phone in the air before frantically flailing her sleeves and successfully catching the contraption. “Yes??” Her tone was high and polite, but her gaze was unusually wide when Ailee turned her focus to Bjorn. “Oh. A map. Yes, that would be very useful, wouldn’t it? Um…”

She pursed her lips together, one pointed finger in the air as she examined the glowing screen. After a few more failed attempts at pulling up a map, her shoulders deflated visibly while her bottom lip jutted out. “I’m sure there’s one on here, but I can’t seem to find it either.” The idea of getting a drink had been so tempting too!

“I guess we’ll just have to ask where the nearest bar is.” She looked at the sage again, but as soon as they made eye contact he spun around and scurried in the opposite direction. Rude. “I mean, there must be one here somewhere, right…?”

For a moment there was something reassuringly solid beneath him. Then with a start Merope pulled away from the wall and stumbled, stomping as if the floor was trying to get away from him. He remembered the start of a story, he remembered -- he remembered --

He remembered the sharp slap of reality as his knee found the corner of the table. A loud War-like explicative could be heard from the room he was in as he proceeded to hop around clutching his knee, glaring at the table. Any existential thought he had previously was replaced by the vast amount of loathing he had for the artistan who decided to create a table out of iron of all things. "Those colors don't even look good together!" He proclaimed, making a point to ignore the note and optional survey.

Merope barely gave the window a glance as he limped towards the door, his shoulders hunched in a sulk. "Stupid iron table. Stupid Death iron design. Stupid Death and their inability to make something without sharp corners or any sort of -" he stopped as soon as he caught sight of the Famine sage.

A blush began to creep its way across his cheeks. Right, right. I'm Conquest. I'm better than this. I've got this. He took a deep breath and gave his name. After being pointed towards the exit, Merope simply stared at him. ...I bet you're the one who picked out that tacky table. You've gotta be.

"Hang on a second --" Merope interrupted, reaching out to grab his sleeve. He ignored the look the Sage gave him. "What do you mean I'm better off? There's a not better off?"

He received the standard response; bugger off and find someone else to bother. Exasperated and with an aching knee, Merope did the first thing that came to mind:

Merope stood off to one side, using his mirror to check out his hair. He brushed it this way and that, leaning against the wall with a scowl on his face.

There was an uncomfortable feeling of unease. Something was off, but Darkjay couldn't figure it out for the life of him. It annoyed him to the point of anger. This room with it's white walls that hurt the eyes, the drab rainy weather, it felt nothing like the warm shade-filled jungles of his homeland. He couldn't even recall how he got here.

The furniture was ignored, as was the survey about Dorothy. The only thing catching his eye was the javelin stuck in the window. How it had been thrown in such a way as to not shatter the glass was a mystery, but he was keen to meet the horsemen able to perform such a feat. He went to leave, pausing only to pick up his cellphone. Rarely did he care much for human technology, not wanting to lower himself to use such useless items, but the phone appeared to hold important information and was a form of communication, so it was worth his time to take it.

He walked through the doorway into the hall, spying a famine horsemen. "You" He called out, voice barely restrained and clearly annoyed. "The hell is going on here? What is this place?" His expression soured at the meager explanation given. "Memory rehabilitation? The ******** do you mean?" Truth be told his memory was hazy as best, and it was not something he wanted to admit. Again he was not given much to go on, but the little jab at his strength had him bristling, wings flaring out as he considered demonstrating just how strong he was by bashing their skulls in.

Instead he spun around, storming away from the horsemen. It would not be wise to to pick fights when he had no idea what was going on. Besides, they were fellow horsemen.

Asahi looked around the white room, taking in how boring it was decorated, before moving over to the table that frankly stuck out with how well made it was with the jewels embedded. Why this one table was in the room was beyond him since it didn't fit with the modern but drab, seriously not one painting could be added in here to liven things up?, and the only thing on said table was a piece of paper. He picked it up with a raised eyebrow and read it over, giving a surprised hum when it was clear that it was a survey on the phone app he had just used. "Well, there is nothing else in this room, might as well." He said then filled it out.

Quote:
How was Dorothy’s performance? Very helpful.

Would you recommend her to anyone else?
Yes I would.

On a scale of 1 - 10, 1 being the least, how well would you say your memory rehabilitation process is going? 4?

Once the survey was finished with some short answers he gave one last look around the room and after noticing a spear in the window as the only other thing interesting about the room, exited. Finding himself in a hallway, the Conquest Horseman continued along the path, passing by an occasional Famine dressed horseman before he finally stopped one to find out what was going on and why he was here in particular.

When he got the question of just who he was, he didn't think anything of it right away since they had never met as far as he was aware before this point in time. "Asahi of Conquest." He replied tipping his head back a bit in pride with a small smirk curling his lips. Even if he was lower in rank than the Sage he had his pride in who he was and besides, it would be fun to see if the other horseman reacted to it and if they did then just how they would react to it.

Unfortunately all Asahi got was a dismissive response that he was better off then some of the others for even just knowing his own name. Just what was going on that knowing your own name was and improvement? Ignoring the comment about where the exit was, Asahi asked that very question to the Famine Sage only to get told they were busy and that he should relax. "Just what is the memory rehabilitation process?" He pressed instead of letting it go, curiosity spurning him on. Said curiosity just jumped when the Famine Horseman revealed that everyone was having a memory black out that was one days worth and that the crystal was red instead of it's normal green.

His next question of why he was here in particular didn't add much to the answer of the mystery other then to reveal that everyone had passed out and had been slowly coming to with many other's haven woken up before him. "Thank you for the information." Asahi said finally when it didn't look like he was going to be getting anything else out of the other horseman then headed towards the exit mentioned earlier. When he got to the elevator he pulled out his phone and key card, looking them over for a moment then pressing the button to his floor and heading to his room.

The walls were white and honestly, boring. Somebody threw a javelin through the window. for a moment Rayu paused and tried to take the javelin but it was stuck good. Well that explained why whoever tossed it didn't get it back. Rayu stared out the window for a moment. Boring. There wasn't anyone to look at. Just some dumb signs.

He did find some famine ponies in the hall ways and managed to corner one. They were please that he knew his name, but why would he not know his own name? Some of the others didn't, he guessed. Whatever not his problem. He wasn't particularly worried about not remembering yesterday. He just wanted an explanation. But when the famine mentioned the crystal outside, he glanced back at it. "Green is a better color." Why was it red and not green? Now that was a mystery.

"So why am I stuck here?" He frowned, annoyed that the famine pony indicated that he wasn't strong. More likely those bugs just didn't have enough brains to be affected. Hard to forget if you didn't have much to rub together to begin with. "Meh."

He still didn't remember yesterday but that was fine. He'd remember more later. For now he was just going to do some basic stuff. Like go make sure his room was in tack. It was. That was quickly boring, just his furs and trophies thrown about the room. He fluffed his fur pile and then went to go lurk in the lobby. He sat on one of the chairs and sprawled his wings across several other chairs waiting for other people to wake up and be interesting.

He might have been more amused on a better day at the idea of scaring another horseman on accident, but today Bjorn grunted and rubbed at his eyes when it became clear that the blonde horseman had as much of a clue as he did when it came to these devices. Honestly, he could have sworn these had been a lot bigger, and certainly less...touch necessary...Was modern technology that quick to innovate? Maybe it was the extra gap in his memory, but Bjorn felt like time was moving a little too quickly for his tastes.

"I will ask," he told the Conquest woman, as now there were more horsemen beginning to file in, perhaps to avoid the rain, perhaps awakening just as he had. Taking a deep breath, he boomed into the room, "Does anyone know how to operate cellphones? We need a drink, and the layout to locate a bar is most confusing."

Of course she knew her name. It was, very obviously, the best name. Not everybody got to be named after Epic Acts of Conquest. Like, hello? Ordinary horseman weren't called Holy Roman Empire or Ottoman or Byzantine. For one, those sounded stupid. And for another thing, not every Joe Schmoe Xiao Ming Boring Mr. Eds could hand all this amazing that America contained. She was The Promise. The Dream. The Manifest Destiny that rode over everything in its way with unrelenting thunder and no remorse.

She was also way cute today and paused to admire herself, phone aloft and fearless against the front-facing camera. Whatever that queasy feeling was, it definitely didn't show her in her face. Giving herself a wink, the young noble looked around the center once more with a narrow gaze. They better not have done a Science on her. Or done anything weird while she was passed out, if she found any bugs in bad places then she was going to War.

And recruiting some friends to retaliate, natch.

Despite having absolutely no memory of what happened, Liya couldn't help but feel excited for one reason or another. White seems to have that sort of effect on her, what with the blank walls just begging for some artistic splashes of color. Like blood. Preferably someone else's but Liya wouldn't object to using hers in a pinch.

The survey was briefly glanced over and answered in an even briefer manner. Liya didn't seem to want to waste any more time than necessary on things that would hinder her exploration.

Dorothy? - Talks a lot but is good intel!
Recommend her? - Ya
Scale - Dunno There is a crude smiling face doodled on the third line.

The survey answered, Liya continued on until she came across a Famine Horseman. Already the grin was pulling at her lips as she tried to adjust the disguise, "Name's Liya and tsk tsk tsk, your collar's crooked." she chided. "So how'd you get this post?" She didn't appear bothered by the dismissal and the hasty attempt at sidestepping questions. Busy they said they were and it was possible they truly are. Appearances can be deceiving after all.

Their insistence that she relax however was met with a loud belly laugh, She gave their nose a light tap, "That's cute! You're cute! Relax they said, hee hee~" But as the Famine Horseman mentioned the crystal, and how it used to be green, Liya turned grim. Here was something to be concerned about. Here was something she could not simply laugh off.

"Relax" they said. Like hell she would. But she would leave as instructed because that's what good warriors did.

WeiSheng was way annoyed with his current situation. he was not quite sure why, he just was. He did not like that he had gaps in his memory, something serious was going down. He observed the room but, finding nothing of interest he quickly grew bored and moved to the hallway where he managed to catch a Famine man in a lab coat... What was that in his hand? As he talked to the famine grunt, he kept a pleasant smile on his face. "Right... alright, thank you." He made sure to keep things positive. WeiSheng was annoyed, but he still knew how important image was. As soon as the man turned away though, WeiSheng rubbed his forehead in annoyance.Idiot... That wasn't helpful at all... Looks like I will have to figure this out on my own. He thought as he proceeded to the lobby.

He looked around, things seemed to be quite chaotic. That was definitely more comfortable than the stark white of the hallways and such. WeiSheng allowed himself to relax a little bit as he scanned the room looking for someone that might know something or, in the very least, be interesting. He noticed someone sprawled out across the chairs. The War horseman did not look like Weisheng's 'type' of friend, but he looked interesting and a bit easier to approach than many of the others. Weisheng, noting the horseman's appearance, decided to be a bit more crude than his usual. He approached and gave a light wave. "Do you have any idea what the heck is going on? No one else has been of any help." He asked, not being rude, but not being near as formal as usual either.
