Yunan sat in the shadows of the trees that touched the edges of the beach. As the waves crashed along the shoreline the hybrid was hunched over with a finger on his chin as he studied a wooden board in front of him. On the board were white and black beaded pieces and he was holding one piece, a white round stone, in his left hand while pondering where to move it. Just to jump these three or no? Yunan sighed as he kept studying the board in front of him. It was just like solving life...so many decisions and so little time.

Even Koril could only handle three squealing baby siblings for so long! Seeing a chance for escape, he slipped out of the loud house and ran for the beach. Flana was hard on his heels, glad to be away from the ruckus as well! Sighing with relief once the ocean waves and warm breeze replaced the screaming children, he started to head for the water.
However, someone playing a curious game caught his attention, and his course changed to take a peek. "What're you playing?" he asked, leaning over to see what all was on the board. Flana came up as well, sniffing the air while staring the stranger down.

And there. Yunan jumped over two of the black pieces and knocked them from the board. It was going to be an easy victory at this rate. A simple game, but still one that was keeping his mind active while he passed time on the beach. But then in his moment of glory against himself a shadow crossed over the board. Frowning, Yunan glanced up to spot another matori hybrid next to him. Is this like a collection point for our kind? First the girl and now this boy? Though unlike the young lady dressed in finery this boy seemed a bit less...clothed and more invasive. At least she had given him the courtesy of space. This one, however, was literally breathing down his neck.
"It's a game." He quipped back, "I'm sure you haven't seen it and I'm not in the mood to really explain either." Yunan took a moment to study the boy once more before deciding to be curt, "Other than questions about my personal affairs of study may I help you? Or did you simply enjoy nosing into other people's activities? "

A game? Koril liked games! Rather than offended, Koril nodded quickly. "You're right, I haven't seen this!" Such a good guess! "I bet it would take a long time to explain. I won't ask you to do that." He cocked his head slightly, brow rising with interest. "Personal affairs of study? That sounds fancy! What does it mean?"

Yunan just stared at the boy before pinching the bridge of his nose in frustration. This guy was definitely something alright. I have the feeling he's not the sharpest one in the area. Letting out a sigh Yunan just gave the apprentice a point blank stare, "I know it's hard to comprehend but sometimes others study so that they can be more prepared for life." He glanced towards his board, "I suppose that's a foreign concept to you so if you'll excuse me I'm going to continue playing."
That stated he picked up another piece before contemplating his move. He had been about to win, but now he was rethinking things since the stranger had made him lose his thoughts.

Koril narrowed one eye suspiciously, glancing at his zanteer. Something was telling him that this boy was acting strangely... but then he got a semi-answer and he giggled. "Oh, I know what 'study' means, silly! I meant, what are these personal affairs you're studying? Most people talk about studying and it's just general stuff or super specific. Does personal affairs mean you're studying yourself?"
Without a care, he knelt down on the sand to watch. "I don't mind if you keep playing," he chirped.

"I study a bit of everything." Yunan shook his head, "And don't worry the game is almost over." Did the cold shoulder simply not work on this one? He seemed so intent to linger around and Yunan was beginning to truly feel frustrated. How did he get rid of this one?
"Really you must not have much going on right to spend so much time talking to a stranger. As it is I must keep with a schedule so if you'll excuse me I'm going to go for a swim now." Quipped Yunan as he finally just scooped all of the pieces from the board. There was no point. He had already lost sight of his strategy the moment the other hybrid had appeared. Dropping the pieces into a pouch Yunan placed them beneath the board before standing. As he dusted sand from his pants the boy glanced towards the other boy before heading towards the ocean.

"A bit of everything? You must be really smart!" Looking over the board, he was already quite lost. It was just a bunch of black and white pebbles... Maybe like checkers?
Not much going on? He opened his mouth to explain why he was there, but the other hybrid kept on going. What an odd guy... Still, he perked up at the mention of swimming. "We came here to swim, too! ..um, we'll be.. over there though.. in case you wanna visit." He was starting to feel like the other boy didn't want any company. Patting his leg, he ran on down to jump into the water, leaving a little distance between him and the other, eager to rinse off the stress of watching his siblings. Flana gave the stranger a displeased little snort before running after Koril, charging in right after him.

Aaand there it was. The other boy was wanting to swim as well. Yunan should have turned on his heel, but the boy was determined. He had come out here to do his studies and then swim so swimming it would be. What did it matter if the other apprentice was there? It wasn't like he was going to be next to him. So hopefully that meant he was getting the hint that Yunan really just wanted to be alone.
Stripping off his top the hybrid walked along the shore before sticking a foot into the water. Unlike the one who jumped straight in Yunan made certain to do it carefully and meticulously. Once he was in the waters, however, Yunan stretched out his arms and began to swim with the waves.

Koril was a little disappointed when the other didn't take him up on his offer, but it was the other's loss! Swimming around with Flana was still fun, and a good way to find a little peace.
Suddenly though, Flana was pulling urgently at his pants. Squinting under the water, Koril nearly inhaled a mouthful of seawater when he saw two drows rapidly scuttling along the bottom in an intense fight. He sure didn't want to get caught in the middle of that!
Swimming for shore, he looked around for the stranger. Was he still in the... there! "Hey!" Koril ran along the shore toward the stranger. "Hey! You! They're fighting and will bite if you don't move!"

Yunan had been focusing on the rhythm of the waves against his body. If he could the boy would simply dissipate into the sea foam. At the time it seemed a much better option than putting up with anyone else. Especially when they are especially loud. Yunan rolled his eyes at the thought before getting distracted by sudden yelling. Why was the guy running along the shore this time? Could he not bare the fact that Yunan wanted nothing to do with him?
And then as the thought crossed his mind Yunan let out a sharp curse. What? His gaze widening Yunan let out a few choice words as pain shuddered up his leg. Kicking away from the creatures the hybrid let his body drift afloat for a good moment so he was away from them. A slender trail of crimson followed him as he used his arms to try and push his way towards the shore. Already though his body was feeling numb and he couldn't really use his legs so he mostly just floated there while bobbing up and down with the waves.
Well this day was not going in his favor at all was it?

He wasn't coming out! He wasn't coming out! "Hey!!" He could only watch as Yunan found himself in the war path. Koril winced looking around for someone to help, but they were the only ones around. Thankfully, the roiling water continued on from where Yunan seemed to be floating, more intent on their personal battle than those in the way.
Ack! The water was red!
"Flana!" Koril called the zanteer to come as he jumped into the water, swimming hard for the still form floating on the surface. Flana circled them protectively as he dragged the boy back to shore, pulling him up out of the waves. In the sand, he wrinkled his nose before pulling open the torn pants for a look at the wound. "Oh, good! You only got bit once. Those guys are poisonous, you know. Why didn't you get outta the way when I told- Poison! Shoot!" The words all came out in a rush as he took off his scarf to tie it tightly around the thigh of the injured leg to slow the spread of the poison. "Wait here, I'll be right back with medicine! Watch him, Flana." If Yunan had tried to say anything, Koril didn't hear a word of it. He bolted toward home while Flana sat down next to Yunan, eyes watching him intently.

Everything was blurry as Yunan floated along the waves. Despite being in water he felt as if he were sweating and that the world, or at least his leg, was on fire. Wincing the boy attempted to not swallow water as he bobbed below the waves again. If this was how he died then it was a damn shame. Yunan wanted to have some quip about things before he pushed himself above the water again. He was not about to die!
And then the next thing he knew he was being dragged through the waters by someone. Who? Yunan blinked from the haze as he tried to see what was going on. Ah, it was that annoying guy. Of course. Yunan closed his eyes before feeling the solid ground beneath him again. Not that it felt solid due to the haze of the poison, "Hard to instantly....get out..." He quipped back before falling backwards with the zanteer next to him.
Poison, antidote...did it matter at this moment? All Yunan wanted to do was pass out and sleep...

Drow.. Drow.. Drow... In his room, he yanked his bag that he had been packing recently. If he was going to travel to find all of the animals, he wanted to make sure he had proper first aid in case of accidents. He heard his name called by a family member, but he didn't have time for that! 'Stay focused, Koril! Stay focused!' He had to get back to the beach!
Panting sharply from the adrenaline, he dropped next to Yunan and shook the injured boy sharply. "No sleeping! You might not wake up!" He pulled out one bottle and held it up to Yunan's lips. "Here. Drink this." With another bottle, he cleaned and wrapped the bitten leg. "There. That'll hold you over. The antidote you drank is special for drow poison, and the salve helps draw general poison out of your leg. We should still get you to a healer though. Do you have a special doctor you want to go to?"

It felt like forever before Koril came back to Yunan. The boy by then was shivering from a high fever and was having trouble focusing on the beach. Everything hurt, his head and leg especially. Still he was stubborn and the boy attempted to move. What if the hybrid just wanted to leave him to fester on the beach now? Yunan wrinkled his nose at the thought. I would prefer not to have birds peck my eyes out of my corpse. He quipped before finally stopping.
Moving was only spreading the poison. Tilting his head back Yunan let out a loud sigh before being surprised by the presence of another. He was back? Blinking the boy sipped on the antidote while Koril worked on his leg. Everything was still fuzzy, but a rare lapse of his normal self did manage to find some kind words. "Thank....you." It was soft, but still he had said them. And at the next question the boy shook his head, "No doctor...I'll take care of it myself." The last thing he wanted was for his father to find out about this one.
