“Dear Papa,
Today, I saw the most wonderful thing. The caretakers took us on a field trip. To a petting zoo! There were so many different kinds of familiars there! There were aetherjellies in one pet, all floating gently around. The caretakers wouldn’t let us play with them for too long. They said that they could burn us if we were too rough with them! So I petted them very gently. It was kinda tingly.
In another area, there were Crocobees and Cockatriels. They were so noisy! Most of them weren’t happy with us poking our hands in the pen, and they would try and attack our fingers! Some of the other nightmares in my class kept sticking their hands in and they ended up needing to be healed to get rid of the scratches. I was very good, and one of the cockatriels let me pet it!!!
There were also salamanders, and flitterrats, and skyfish, like mine! ‘Cept not like mine. OH, Oh, there were also some fennekits, and some jackalopes, and gryftoos. There was even a couple spectrefox, but I’m pretty sure the teacher told us that they belonged to one of the zookeepers. The fennekits were so soft! It was fun to watch the jackalopes jump around. If you shouted “BOO” at them real loud they would do this big jump and then they’d hop around. Some of the boys kept doing that, and they got in trouble when the zookeepers noticed
But, while we were there, we saw some tiny baby skyfish. The zookeepers wouldn’t let us pet those. They said that they were just born the day before yesterday or something, and so it wouldn’t be good for them to get little freshling germs all over them. Most of the other nightmares in the class didn’t pay much attention after that, but I stayed real quiet and still. I didn’t know they could even get that small!
Since I was so good, the zookeepers talked with me about how they take care of the familiars and what they do when they have babies. It was so interesting! I asked a bunch of questions about the skyfish, because I have a lot of those. I know about how to feed them and get them unstuck from places, but I never knew they could have babies together!
But then I thought, if they did have babies together, I could share them with some of my friends! Meadow doesn’t have any skyfish, even if he does have a whole buncha other familiars. So next time you visit, we should go to the zoo again so I can ask about spectrefoxes too! I would love to have little spectrefoxes and skyfish like that. Wouldn’t it be super neat? And also, when I get more familiars, I want them all to have little families! That way none of them have to be the only one of that kind of familiar.
