Telekinesis: (Aether) Bonus: -10 Cost: 20 MP Effect: HP+/- (this can be used to help or harm, depending on the caster's application) ||| MP 0 Method: Focus ||| Source: Divine Use: Using energy as a force to grasp and move matter with one's will. The weight and size of the object is directly proportionate to the difficulty of manipulating it. Energy can be used to push, pull, lift or throw things. Targets with their own innate motion are more challenging to overpower and manipulate than stationary ones. Combining this spell with transmutation magics, like Weightless or Gravity, can ease the strain on the caster.
Slow: (Temporal) Bonus: -10 Cost: 10 MP Effect: HP (- difficulty to intervene or prepare for incoming action) ||| MP (- difficulty to intervene or prepare for incoming action) Method: Casting ||| Source: Divine Use: This magic enables the caster to slow a target (object or person) for a short time. This can be used to 'buy time': catch something (or someone) before they fall, evade an incoming attack or projectile, or just more clearly see what exactly is happening during rapid fire moments. It is debatable if this magic actually slows the target, or if it temporarily increases the onlookers perception to be able to track the action at lightning speeds.
Spell mimic: (Illusion) Bonus: --- Cost: 5 MP Effect: HP 0 ||| MP 0 Method: Casting ||| Source: Practical Use: This illusion can pretend to be any other magic, except that its physical affects are pure illusion. The more senses a particular Spell would normally effect, the harder the mimic will become. Sometimes, at a glance it is enough to convince or deter another individual regarding a chosen course of action.

Kiln: (Pyrestia) Bonus: -5 Cost: 10 MP Effect: HP+ ||| MP 0 Method: Focus ||| Source: Nature Use: More a production of intense heat than live flame, this magic 'fires' a finished craft to set it, including paints, glazes, clay, glass, etc. Items subjected to the Kiln magic tend to be harder, more durable, and have a polished finish to them that resists tarnish.
Heaven's Breath: (Aerastia) Bonus: -5 Cost: 5 MP Effect: HP 0 ||| MP 0 Method: Focus ||| Source: Nature Use: Regardless of the terrain, Heaven's Breath allows one to breathe normally, for example, underwater, in a vacuum, or in a smoky blaze.
Weightless (Aerestia) Bonus: -5 Cost: 5 MP Effect: HP (- Difficulty for subsequent action) ||| MP 0 Method: Transmutation ||| Source: Nature Use: Those rocks too heavy to shift out of your path? Need to haul a friend to safety? Casting Weightless on your target will temporarily render them feather-light, making them easy to lift, move, or transport. The size and autonomous movement of the subject is unaffected.

Cyril was nervous, but he knew the lesson would help him in the end. Nobody had challenged him to a battle so far, but with the way things were looking, he didn't think it would be too long. So he took a deep breath and concentrated. There were a variety of small wooden balls set up for this practice battle, all he had to do was use Telekinesis to pick one up and throw it. He focused one a medium sized ball, using the newly learned spell to pick it up and throw it at the Baphomet teacher he’d asked to be his opponent.

Jeanine waited patiently for Cyril to work up the courage to cast the spell. She'd been surprised when he approached her for help. Not that she was at all opposed to him practicing! It was actually a pleasant surprise. They’d discussed what kind of battleground they’d need, since neither of them had the elemental offensive skills. So there were plenty of balls of various sizes and materials for them to choose from.
Jeanine nodded at his choice, choosing to cast Weightless on the ball instead of wresting control from him using telekinesis. The result was a feather light touch, instead of the hard hit he’d planned. “Good shot!” she called out, wanting him to stay confident in his spell choice.

Cyril was dismayed when Jeanine easily turned his hit into something harmless. That spell was draining, and she just. Just. Agghh. He took a deep breath, ready to try again. Maybe a larger ball this time? That would be harder for her to cast a spell on, right? Looking through the larger balls, he decided on a wooden one about the size of a soccer ball. He focused on the ball, hefting it up with Telekinesis, and hurling it at her. Unfortunately, he overestimated his strength. He managed to get the ball up and moving towards her, but even if it hit, it wouldn’t do much damage.

The next ball to fly at her, Jeanine decided to take the damage head on. Well, stomach on, if you were going to be particular. “Oof!” It wasn’t as painful as she’d expected, but it wasn’t as nice as the feather light one from before either.
Deciding to see how he reacted to her throwing balls around, she decided on a large, foam ball. It would be easy to pick up and throw, with the added bonus of not hurting quite so bad if it made contact. Mind made up, Jeanine focused, slinging the ball at the geist with Telekinesis.

Cyril could feel the sweat running down his back. Telekinesis was more draining than he’d thought it would be. Looks like he’d be hitting the books to find a spell that wouldn’t drain so much magic from him. Even though the ball she flung wasn’t heavy, it was awkward and surprised him enough that it managed to knock him over.
Alright, he didn’t have enough strength left to try telekinesis again, and he didn’t have any items that would restore it, so he’d have to bluff this next one. Good thing he had a spell for that. Spell mimic wouldn’t do any actual damage, but if he acted, maybe she would be fooled. So he made all the gestures and said all the words as if he was going to use thunderbolt. The resulting flash and boom was spectacular.

Jeanine was pretty pleased with her hit, even if it hadn’t done much damage, she’d still managed to knock him over. That’s when he started making the gestures for Thunderbolt. She thought he didn’t know any of those spells! The burst of lightning that struck between them surprised her, momentarily blinding her. As her vision cleared, she realized it hadn’t done any actual damage.
She readied herself to cast another spell, then she took a closer look at Cyril. He had sweat running down his body, and he was swaying. To be honest, he looked dead on his feet. Running through their mock battle, she figured he’d just overexerted himself. Telekinesis was draining, especially for juniors. “That was a very good first try Cyril. You executed all your spells flawlessly. Let’s go and get you checked out at the nurse, and you can tell me about that last spell you used,” she told him, crossing the arena to get to him. With a hand around his shoulder, she turned him around and began to lead them both to the nurse.
