Name: Azrael
Age: 28
Sex: Male
Sexual Orientation: Heterosexual
Weyr: Other
Rider Rank: Entertainer (Circus Performer: Magician)
Previous Rank/Craft: Courtesan: Assassin(Says Entertainer if asked)

Physical Description: Azrael's appearance is described as strange by many people who see him. A tall and slender man, Azrael stands at six feet and four inches tall. His body is completely made up of lean muscle with a toned chest and stomach. Both his arms and legs are long and his fingers are slender as well.

The most interesting, or rather strange, thing about Azrael's appearance is his face. He normally has his face covered with bandages, all except his eyes and wears a black cloth mask over the lower part of his face. The reason for this is because Azrael detests the way his face looks. With thin skin stretched across the bones of his face, it gives him the appearance of a skeleton. Like a skeleton as well, Azrael is missing his nose, there is just a hole there. His right eye is a milky blue, another product of his deformity, while his left eye is a deep blue. His hair is a jet black that is always worn slicked back, it is short but the ends of it stop right below where his head and neck meet.

A very sophisticated man despite how he views his face, Azrael does his best to dress to the nines. He is normally seen in black slack like pants, a long sleeve pin stripped shirt with a vest. Over all of that he wears a black jacket with a high collar and to top the outfit off completely he wears black gloves and black shoes.

Personality:
Although his life has not been an easy one, Azrael has thrived and flourished as a musical genius. The man is smart and knows it, which makes him a worthy opponent to many who are life minded. He was considered a quick learner when he was younger, able to pick up an instrument and play it after only a couple of lessons.

Although his excursions into love were meet with rejection and he himself does not intend to fall into that ever again, Azrael does have a romantic view upon the world when it comes to his music. His own view upon people can be met with cynicism but the world around them, nature and the animals he views with a romantic eye. Deep down he also wishes to eventually find someone who will love him no matter what, but he does not put any faith into finding that person.

Because of the appearance of his face, Azrael dressed in a very sophisticated manner, as well as acting sophisticated. It helps to give him a mysterious air which keeps people from asking too much about why he keeps his face hidden. It also allows him to almost forget about the face he was born with.

Feeling Inferior because of how he was born, Azrael has a very hard time letting anyone get close. This same inferiority has lead to him having a bad image to himself, believing he is below everyone. This often comes in contrast to him knowing how smart he is and believe that he is mentally better then everyone, if it only wasn't for the monstrous face he was given at birth.

It seems strange, but Azrael suffers from narcissism, not perhaps from his looks like many would believe, but instead towards his music. He longs for perfection in his craft and works to achieve this. He knows his music is good and his songs well written. It allows him to have control over one aspect of his life.

Temperamental, Azrael does not take insults or slights very well. He is quick to act in anger, losing his ability to reason, though he has never lost himself enough to actually kill anyone. He will argue and fight with someone if he believes they are wrong.

Positive Trait List Romantic, Genius, Sophisticated

History: Born Eiríkr in Rivercrest Hold to a Master Architect and a Journeyman Harper, Eiríkr was the couples first and only child. Lenuta and Iancu tried for ten turns to have a child. Lenuta had managed to get pregnant five times but each of those times ended up with the miscarriage of the child. So when Lenuta became pregnant for the sixth time and managed to carry the infant to term, it seemed like a miracle to the happy couple.

At his birth the midwife screeched in terror at the appearance of the babe. While his appearance was unsettling to Lenuta and Inacu at first, the two were very grateful to finally have a child of their own that they soon overlooked their child's appearance.

Eiríkr was raised in a loving family and never wanting for anything. He knew what his face looked like and he was always bothered by it. His mother and father did their best to keep him sheltered from the rest of the world, worried they wouldn't understand him or be as sympathetic. Eiríkr, like any child, wanted to spend time with the other children in his hold, but he also feared how his face would be viewed. He began to cover his face because of this, though he still had a hard time making friends.

Without any friends, Eiríkr dove into the crafts that his mother and father offered to teach him. He learned a couple of basic things from his father, though he mostly followed along after his mother. Lenuta taught her son how to sing and play the violin. He took to music very quickly and Lenuta liked to have her son sing for her often, claiming that her son had the voice of an angel.

It was a turn before he was of the age to pick a craft that his mother and father had a visitor. The woman was a courtesan who was travelling and his mother and father had taken her into their home, allowing her to stay. The young boy was instantly enraptured by the woman, she was beautiful, so much more beautiful then he was, a young boy with a face of a monster. The woman either took pity on him or didn't care at all, having asked for him to show her his face. Eiríkr stuck to her side as she visited. She told him stories of her travels and he became just as enraptured with her stories as he had in her beauty. She stayed for a turn before having to leave and it was bitter sweet for Eiríkr when she left, though she did tell him that if he wished he could go to the courtesan hall and learn from there, to create his own stories.

Although worried about how he would be treated away from his home, his mother and father urged him to do what he felt like he wanted to and what was the best for him. Eiríkr then decided to go to the courtesan hall to learn. Although his face was still a source of worry for him, as well as scrutiny for others, he always kept it covered. The lessons he learned from his mother, singing and composing, helped him gain attention, though his strange looks soon caught the attention of a master in the hall. Eiríkr was offered the chance to learn how to be an assassin, while hiding what he was as an entertainer. Curious about what he wanted to do, it was three turns in to his life at the hall that he decided to take the offer that was given to him.

Eiríkr learned how to use gasses and poisons to cause hallucinations in others. As he grew, his preferred method of killing someone was by poison, either by injecting them with it, or causing them to inhale it. When he walked the tables at twenty turns he was given his first solo assignment at Western Weyr. He never asked questions aside from who it was, so he traveled there easily, using his cover as a magician.

It just coincided that when he arrived at Western there was a hatching going on, and his target was going to be there in the stands. Deciding that, he had never seen something like this before, Eiríkr stayed to watch, using the opportunity to silently inject his target with a very slow acting poison, it would not take effect at that moment, and he planned on watching from afar to make sure it happened, when everything changed. He heard a voice in his head, one that was both familiar and unfamiliar. A newly hatched brown was staring up at him from the stands, watching him and offering him words of encouragement and how he should not feel ashamed about his face.

Because of having impressed a dragon, Eiríkr was forced to stop traveling and spend a turn in weyrling training with his new bonded, Eldwinth. Once the turn was up, the two left the weyr to go back to what Eiríkr was doing, though he was now dubbed Azrael by his bonded as Eldwinth believed his bonded needed a new name.

Three turns later, Azrael and Eldwinth found themselves a part of a circus that was upon the western continent. The two needed a place to call home and the circus seemed like the best place as the ring leader liked to take in those who were unfortunate, also having more dragons always was the best to bring in more attention. Azrael and Eldwinth soon began to earn their stay by creating a magic act, though Azrael does still go about his assassin duties as well.

When thread returned, the two were as prepared as they could be, but they had no real care to go back to a weyr to help fight. They enjoyed the life they were living.

Other: Anything else you want to add?

DRAGON
Name: Eldwinth
Age: 8
Color: Brown
Size: 39'
Physical Description: Not the largest brown, but not the smallest, Eldwinth is of average size. The most striking feature about him is his darker spotted pattern that runs along his hide. A very muscular brown for his size, Eldwinth is definitely made for power.
Personality: Eldwinth can be considered a strange brown in many ways. For once, he does not care much about order, chaos is something he takes a bit of pride in and enjoys watching unfold. Seeing thread return, aside from making sure that his and the circus were safe, the sight of others fleeing and the devastation it wrecked caused him a bit of joy. It is one of the reasons he enjoys his continuing to do the craft he did before he impressed. He believes that as long as he is not the one who is causing the human harm, there is no foul if it is his bonded instead.

Obsessive about what he believes should be is, Eldwinth can have a bit of a temper. He does not like to give up something of his lightly and has been known to hoard a few things as well. He likes pretty things, but does not care for chasing after golds as he feels they are not really worth the time and attention. Why should he chase after something that everyone wishes to go after as well? He does understand that it can be needed for a clutch but he still would rather not.

An artist at heart, like his bonded, Eldwinth loves to spin stories and yarns for the orphans that are apart of the circus. He is known to telling a tall tale or two to them about his adventures with his bonded.

I really like the idea of being inspired by the Phantom of the Opera, but I have two concerns:

1. The name needs to be changed. It's not a Pernese name, so if you can modify the spelling such that it sounds like either a derivative of an Earth name or something cobbled together as a Pernese name, then you can keep it.
2. While we do allow inspiration to be drawn from characters, this character almost hits every point in the story. Can you adjust him a little bit in the history section particularly so that he is unique? Right now he's reading as a cosplay.

Approved... though if someone keeled over unexpectedly at a Hatching you can be Western Weyr would have been up in arms looking for the source. And dragons can read minds.

I'm not entirely comfortable with the idea of people getting assassinated at past PC Weyrs Hatching's but I will assume in your case that the drug made it look like a natural thing (he got tired and laid down and never woke up, etc.) or the man passed away after he'd left the event.

Just because obvious murders most foul would have been a big-to-do, especially during a joyous event. gaia_star Since the poison was slow acting, we'll just say nobody was none the wiser. It was just one of those things, haha.
