xxx»» Art was very interested in art as a child; he painted, drew, and made things out of clay up until his Hogwarts years. As an adolescent, he was a bit of a music freak; he went from genre to genre and obsessed over various bands and singers before finally settling on a generally eclectic taste in music as an adult. He hated subjects like math and history when he went to muggle school because he felt very stifled, and preferred to spend his time humming under his breath, daydreaming, or doodling in the margins.
THOUGHTFUL
xxx»» Art was described as 'sweet and clever' as a young boy, and as 'sensitive but very bright' as a teenager. In general, he was quite self conscious for a long time, always worrying about what others thought of if he'd upset anyone, but had become more confident by the time he graduated from Hogwarts. He's not one to rush into things and doesn't like to judge people on one action or incident alone. This makes him rather forgiving and tolerant, as people go, but it's very hard to win his trust back once you've broken it.
SELFLESS
xxx»» Art grew up being taught to always put others ahead of himself, and while that has left a bitter taste in his mouth as the years go by, he does try his best to think of the people around him first, even if there are consequences. He would rather do what is best for everyone, even if he personally doesn't like it, and doesn't like to be the cause of disagreements or fights. He worries after others a lot, and can be a bit overbearing when he feels that someone around him is stressed out or upset over something.
DIPLOMATIC
xxx»» Art doesn't like to fight with people. One, he doesn't see the point in it, since people both say things they don't mean when tensions are running high, and also make promises they can't or won't keep when provoked into it. He'd rather wait someone out until they cool off than go head to head with them, and has literal interest in verbal or physical battles to see who's right. It's not that he is overwhelmingly opposed to violence, but doesn't want himself or others to be dragged into it if it can be avoided, and is wary of brash and impulsive people.

xxx»» Art is a very private person, although he does open up once in a blue moon. When with work friends, he doesn't like to discuss his family. When with family, he doesn't want to talk about work. When with the pack, he'd rather not discuss any of the above. He thinks many people mix their social circles until they are all tangled up and woven together, and wants to avoid that sort of stress in his life. 'Don't s**t where you eat', as the saying goes. He'd never sleep with a coworker or rant about his family with pack members.

xxx»» Art was always a very hopeful, optimistic child, and some of that has lingered into adulthood. He's come to expect the worst in the back of his mind but hope for the best. He wants to believe there is good in everyone, and that people just make bad decisions they can't get away from, but has seen evidence to the contrary. Still, he refuses to go through life suspecting everyone and trusting no one, and would rather be let down than be lonely, miserable, and paranoid. Although he could stand to be a bit more realistic at times.

CHILDHOOD
xxx»» Art is the son of two muggles; an American teacher and an English accountant. Leah Horn met Gavin Jewell while teaching for a program in England, and ended up staying in the country indefinitely. The two had a daughter, Morgan, and then married, mostly to make filing paperwork that much easier, but the marriage was inherently troubled from the start. Leah was a free-spirit; dramatic and irresponsible but vivacious and energetic all the same. Gavin was as strait-laced as they came; rigid and temperamental but hardworking and ambitious as well. They clashed on just about everything, from where to hold their wedding to how to raise their children.
Morgan was followed four years later by Art, and then three years later came Kai. By the birth of their third child the marriage was strained to the point of breaking, and Leah skipped back off across the pond with the occasional visit once a year or so until Art was seven. By this point he had already displayed several signs of magic, which his father took as displays of extreme aggression and defiance. Leah was just as confused, but blamed her husband for their older son's 'lashing out'. Art lived with her in her home state of Nevada until he was ten and his parents appeared to be reconciling. He and his mother moved back to the UK and the family all lived together again for about a year, until he got his letter. This caused a whole different upset. Leah threw in the towel on parenting again and went to stay with a friend in Italy.
Gavin progressed to taking out his anger on all three of his children, in particular Art, who quickly learned how to blame himself for everything wrong with his family, and Morgan, was was the only girl and had the misfortune of overwhelmingly resembling her mother. Art viewed Hogwarts as an escape from a mother who cycled between displays of overwhelming affection and spoiling and cutting off all contact with her children for months on end, and a father who shouted himself hoarse day and night and punched holes through walls when homework wasn't completed fast enough. His older sister hated him for 'ruining everything' and his younger brother was practically mute.
SCHOOL YEARS
xxx»» Art very much enjoyed his time at Hogwarts. He took to the magical world easily; it seemed to be the antithesis of everything his father ranted about. He thought his mother might have had a much easier time as a witch. He was sorted into Ravenclaw, and while not overwhelmingly popular, had a close-knit group of friends. He liked to hang around in the kitchens with the house elves and draw or play guitar by the lake. He dated both boys and girls and managed to still remain good friends with the girl who cheated on him over the summer vacation. Whenever it was time to go home he tended to make himself scarce; Art was constantly over at friend's places or wandering around the rural Cheshire area he'd grown up in, his younger brother at his heels. Kai and him grew closer, his muggle brother fascinated by the magical world. Morgan was out of the house by the time Art was fourteen, and his father put more and more hours into work. His mother came back to visit, sometimes.
ADULTHOOD
xxx»» Art graduated happily enough but with no idea of what he wanted to do. He had no intentions of working for the Ministry and so decided to spend some time traveling. He did that for two years, working odd muggle jobs and jumping from city to city. When the money was gone he settled back down and England and joined a band, which had a short-lived three year stint. His sister Morgan was particularly scathing of that; she was studying to be a lawyer. Their mother had memorably gotten drunk at her party celebrating her entrance into law school, and then memorably gotten locked out on the fire escape by their father.
Then Gavin suddenly passed away from a stroke, and Art was unsure of whether to be relieved or heartbroken. His father had been very cruel to him at times, but had also been the only parent there for him for years on end. He broke up with his current boyfriend, who was frustrated by his refusal to even talk about it. His mother was a mess. He moved in to take care of her, and on his time off went camping, deep in the woods, almost hoping to get lost and just stay there.
He had no experience with lycanthropy or living as a werewolf before his bite, aside from some study of it in school, but three years on thought he had a decent handle on it. He had little interest in registering with the Ministry, and besides, it seemed rather like a lose-lose situation. Register and the Ministry investigated and found the pack, even without him telling them? Well, he'd have an angry Lock on his doorstep. If Art was good at anything, it was going with the flow. A childhood of abrupt changes in dynamic and an angry father with a mean swing had taught him how to keep his head down.
Besides, it wasn't as if he'd ever had a stable live to give up or anyone to hide it from. Morgan wouldn't have believed it without seeing it with her own eyes anyways, and they didn't speak with one another by that point anyways. His mother was drunk on both alcohol and regrets 90% of the time and wouldn't have noticed to begin with. Kai was engaged and finally happy, and it was much easier to be the errant, unreliable older brother who occasionally swung by to cook and drink and play video games than to face the painful reality that his brother seemed entirely unaffected by their shared childhood.
