Name: Timor
Age: 19
Sex: Male
Sexual Orientation: Bisexual
Craft: Starcrafter
Rank: Journeyman
Location: High Reaches Weyr
Physical Description: Timor has short, dirty blonde hair, sometimes as dark as brown, though it's bleached light in the sun. He has pale skin and freckles, and his mother's clear ocean-blue eyes. He is above average height (though he often slouches) and has a slim but athletic build.
Personality: An ideal first child for a young single mother, Timor was a bright, intelligent, and patient boy, content in almost any situation, and adapting quickly to new experiences. He is quiet until spoken to, and many people think him shy, but he's quite happy to talk once people engage him. He just spend a lot of time listening. He likes hearing other people talk, especially about subjects that interest them, and though he likes to do the same, always eager to discus new methods or discoveries they've made, he doesn't crave to be the center of attention.

Growing up mostly around adults had made him a little awkward around people his own age, though no less enthusiastic. His constant travel means he makes friends quickly, never knowing how long he has before their next move. He may come off a little strong at times, never shy about sharing his enthusiasm for something, though he sometimes needs to remind himself that not everyone shares his interests or he'll wind up boring people (with a candle-mark long rant about meteor showers, for example).

With a strong-willed mother and demanding younger sister, Timor is used to being bossed around, particularly by girls. While he usually doesn't mind, Timor will rarely, if ever, stand up for himself, typically saying that it's no big deal, no matter how rude or unreasonable the demand. He isn't easily bothered by insults, though there are people he will stand up for, and has a lot of patience. But still, he may need his friends to stick up for him once in a while.

Like his mother, Timor loves his craft. Or maybe he just loves to learn, it's hard to say. Yet while he has a curiosity for many things, he approaches Starcraft with a single-minded determination. While at work, he loses focus on all other things, and often loses his sense of time as well. It's not unusual for him to start work in the early afternoon, look up a 'minute' later, and discover that it is night. The only time he might refuse someone is when he's busy with work, when he can become quietly irritable for being disturbed.

Positive Trait List Intelligent, Passionate, Friendly
Negative Trait List Awkward, Pushover, Single-minded
History: Some people find their calling later in life, some seem to know it from the start. And Timor.. Timor never stood a chance. From the time he was born, when his mother named him after Pern's second satellite, Timor was destined to be a Starcrafter. The mobile that lulled him to sleep was of Rukbat's five planets, his bedroom ceiling was decorated with constellations. His mother loved her craft, and it was hard not to be swept away by that enthusiasm.

A rider since before he was born, they traveled to many different parts of Pern as part of her craft, staying in observatories and craft halls all across Pern. One thing he never had growing up was consistency. His mother was pulled by the winds, they never lived in one place long. But he was also exposed to some of the brightest minds in his craft, who (at the behest of his mother) would give him mini lessons from an early age. His mother, too, was basically training him since he could talk. She didn't even mean to pigeonhole him (well, maybe a little), she just couldn't help but want to talk about all the things she was doing. And Timor loved to listen. By the time he was five he could name every star in the sky. He didn't always understand what she was talking about, but he picked up little things here and there, and even when it was all gibberish- it was nice just to listen to her speak and see her face light up with joy.

The two were each other's constant companions, and he saw her as a friend as much as a parent. Anneila had him young. She never talked about his father, and Timor never asked. There were a few times when he was young, that he would daydream about a more normal life. A permanent home, agemates, a father maybe. But never for very long. The world he lived in was beautiful, full of the mysteries of the stars and cosmos, and he enjoyed travelling. It was no surprise that, when it was time, he became his mother's official apprentice. They continued to travel, by ship or dragon or caravan, sometimes alone and sometimes with groups, and Timor made several friend along the way, as they dotted between observatories making detailed measurements of stellar parallax (the focus of his mother's research, and something she hoped might one day award her a Mastery).

Jumping here and there did occasionally take them through High Reaches Weyr, where on one occasion while chatting with a search rider, he mentioned Timor's potential as a candidate. A rider herself, his mother could only encourage him to take the opportunity, and used her connections with the Weyr and her craft to get him set up with another master there. Though it was strange being away from her, it felt good to set out on his own. And for once, he had what he used to dream about, a stable place, with friends his own age. He enjoyed candidacy, but still continued to pursue his craft with relentless determination.

So when an opportunity came up to establish a new observatory high in the Northern mountains, he found it hard to say no. The master he was training under was going to head up the effort, and offered to bring Timor along to gain some practical experience. It was only supposed to be for a few months. But the return of thread suddenly made the measurements and methods they were developing more important than ever. And, having taken on more of the project than he originally intended, Timor decided to stay and see it through.

He has recently returned to High Reaches Weyr, having just walked the tables after finishing the project.
