Two weeks had gone by easily enough but he was glad the evening for his ‘date' with the dark senshi had come. The other man had been interesting to talk to and he was looking forward to his opinions on the books he'd suggested. If he was as intelligent as Lysander expected then the conversation this time would be good as well. And another excuse to see a cute Senshi, even if he was corrupt, was a bonus. He'd arrived a bit early and perched on the edge of the buildings roof. He'd be out of sight from the ground but easy enough to see from any of the nearby buildings. While he waited he decided to thumb through the database on his senshi phone to see if anything new popped up.

Almandine had read the books - he'd had nothing, really, to lose from reading them, and besides, he found them sort of interesting. A lot interesting, if he was being entirely honest with himself. That, combined with a vague sort of curiosity and a sense of deliberation meant that he was almost precisely on time to meet Arachne.
He couldn't see the other senshi, but Almandine could feel the power signature fluttering nearby, a frown touching his lips.
"Arachne?"

"Over here." Arachne had felt the power signature coming closer but he hadn't been positive it was his 'date'. He didn't want to give himself away if it was someone else but he recognized the other senshi's voice. Sliding off his perch he slid out of the shadows. He gave a momentary thought to that lady senshi's idea of him as a vampire, knowing what he had to look like coming out of the shadows, but managed to keep himself from laughing at the idea. Instead he grinned at the deer senshi. "Alma, perfectly on time. Knew there was reason I decided to show up early rather than fashionably late." That was his usual habit but something told him if he'd been late Almandine might not have waited around.

Almandine's eyes flickered upwards, trying to see through the dim street lighting, the long shadows that stretched across the city, blacking out alleyways and distinct features. But a second later, there was Arachne, emerging from the darkness with an ease that suggested familiarity.
Almandine tilted his head a little, bells jingling slightly with the movement.
"Good evening," he said politely. "I hope you had a good week."
Or two weeks, rather, but semantics.

"As good as can be expected given the circumstances." He smirked. He couldn't really say it was always enjoyable when half the evenings he was out he was dealing with some strange monster or another. It did mean life was never boring though. He set one hand on his hip as he looked the other man over. "Did you enjoy your time? Enjoy the books?" That was the point of their meeting and he didn't figure that Almadine wasn't the sort to want to stand around and make small talk.

"Well, that's better than terrible," said Almandine, with his usual blunt politeness. He smoothed a hand down the front of his shirt, frowning a little, his fingers flickering briefly over the individual buttons; it was an idle, vague gesture that he didn't seem to be aware of doing.
"They were very interesting, yes." he said, considering this. "I don't generally feel as though I have a good grasp on the human experience as whole afterwards, but at least i feel a bit more understanding, maybe."

He grinned at that, tempted to walk over and stop the other senshi's hands from fiddling with things but stopping himself. "Baby steps remember? Understanding things a bit better is a good step in the right direction. Have to start with the basic fundamentals before you can start branching out. And trust me. There are some things about people no one will ever understand." That was, at least in his opinion, because everyone was different. So everyone would react to things in slightly different ways. You could make some good generalizations about human behavior but you couldn't nail it down like you could math or chemistry. "Do you have any questions about anything?"

Almandine was still frowning, back in thought. One hand tugged idly at the ribbon that was tied around his neck, as though trying to loosen it, and bells jingled softly with each movement that he made, cloth shifting, wind rustling the little golden instruments.
"Basic fundamentals present a problem if they aren't explained properly," Almandine informed Arachne. "Though I see your point. Not everything has a good explanation to it, which is probably a disappointment to some, myself included."
He didn't like subjective information. Almandine lowered his hands again.
"What exactly did you mean about hitting on? That wasn't mentioned in the book. Or rather, not a great deal of physical contact was."

He watched Alma fiddle with his clothes again before taking a couple steps closer and reaching out to catch one of the senshi's hands. He didn't put any force behind it, in case the other man didn't like it, but gently tugged his hand away from his clothes. "Nervous tick? Didn't think you liked me that much." He smirked before letting go of Alma's hand and straightening his ribbon. The question was a bit surprising, that wasn't what he'd figure Alma would latch onto. "It's when you make a .... actually that would be another euphemism so lets not go there." He laughed softly to himself. "It's what someone does when they are attracted to another person and want to express that they are attracted to them. Most people aren't comfortable enough to just come out and say what they want and it's more socially acceptable to 'hit on' someone instead. That way it leaves things open so if someone isn't interested they can let the other person down without making a potentially public scene out of it."

Almandine frowned at Arachne, but didn't make a move to pull his hand away, or jerk away as the ribbon was readjusted. Instead, he just stood there, watching him with a studious expression, as though he wasn't entirely sure what was happening and why.
"I like you just fine," he said, as though it was obvious. "I mean, you're Order side, so I suppose I'm not supposed to, but you don't seem evil."
He didn't like the games, or the shady pretenses of anything. Communicating seemed largely like a back and forth game of he said she said that was rather exhausting on a whole other level. Almandine heard the bells chime again as he shifted.
"Why can't they just say what they want and have it out like that?" he asked, the frown deepening; it now seemed permanently attached to his face. "It seems awfully dumb to continue just...guessing."

"Because at some point someone decided we had to separate ourselves from animals and our base instincts. So it became the social norm to not refer to anything potentially sexual in public." Once he had Alma's tie straight he took his hands back, giving the other senshi a once over. "So instead of 'I think I like you and would like to get to know you better' it's 'Want to have coffee with me some time?' or instead of asking 'hey you want to go to my place and have sex' it became 'wanna netflix and chill'." He did agree that it was stupid sometimes and just saying things outright would be easier but he also understood why that wasn't the case. People just didn't work like that normally. "Most people seem to prefer euphemistic language for things that might make them or someone else uncomfortable. Not always the best but it's worked out so far and it shifts with the times." People were a lot better at mentioning some things than they were only a few years ago. "And I'm not evil because that's the whole point of being on my side, we're not the evil ones." He grinned, voice teasing. "And there's a difference between you like me and you like me."

"That seems...ridiculously counterproductive," said Almandine finally, with a glance over at Arachne. "I find it difficult to believe that someone can't just ask someone to be intimate, or to go out, or whatever that means, because honestly, I'm not entirely sure, but it makes little sense to continue the bantering."
He shrugged a shoulder, bells jingling.
"What's the difference? And I find it hard to believe as well that there's just the black and white expectation of evil versus good."

He laughed softly again. The way Alma thought of things was cute, probably more so than the other senshi realized. It was always good to find someone else who had a different view on things and Alma's straightforward one was fun. "Some people do that. It can depend on the person you're talking to or the situation that you're in. Generally most people go for the banter instead though. One of those silly things humans do." Tucking a piece of hair behind his ear he tipped his head as he thought. "Difference between like and like? That would be the difference between friendly and intimate. As for good versus evil that's a whole other philosophical discussion. I tend to look at our little delemia as the difference between the people who are willing to severely injure or kill civilians and those that aren't. You'll find that sort on both sides. Villians always think of themselves as the hero."

Almandine was not the sort of person who put his hands into his pockets or crossed his arms; instead he just let his fingers roam, idly tapping along one hip, smoothing absently across one of the belts that ran from his waist downward, holding the bells.
"I never understood banter," he said truthfully, with a glance around at their surroundings, Almandine's brow furrowing in thought. "Small talk seems a waste of time, to be perfectly honest. It's just filler conversation instead of actually talking about something that's interesting."
He dropped his head down again, looking over at Arachne. "Wouldn't that be like and lust then? I don't believe there's a thing as a true, finite line between good and evil; those terms are far too broad. I'm technically supposed to be on the 'bad side' of things, aren't I?" Almandine asked, brows lifting. "I don't really think of myself as evil, though."

Arachne had to keep himself from catching Almandine's hands to stop him fidgeting. He did wonder where that habit came from though given how formal the other man seemed to be otherwise. "Sometimes banter can be interesting though. It can be a good way to find out if someone else has the same interest as you depending on how you go about it." He was probably not the right person to talk about like versus lust but he'd give it a shot at least. "Technically I think most people consider lust an attraction to someone purely on a physical basis. Sometimes it's just a very deep desire for something but usually in this context it's sex rather than an intellectual sort of attraction. " "From my side you are on the 'bad' side of things. But usually for someone on your side I'm on the bad side. Eye of the beholder and whatnot." Arachne shrugged slightly. "You don't seem evil, met plenty on your side who haven't and some that very much are."
