Almas stood as still as she could in her patch of oasis shade, and concentrated. If she focused, she could just hear, in her imagination, the beat of a drum, the high sound of a flute, and the gliding sound of some stringed instruments, playing the right notes at the right tempo. The tempo of a traditional dance.

A faint whisper of wind rustled her golden bells and fluttered her sheer blue silks a fraction of a section before she moved, swinging flanks and legs as she was taught. Almas tossed mane and tail alluringly, and punctuated each imagined drumbeat with some motion that made the bells jingle. Short, sharp kicks brought out the merriest sounds as she moved through the steps of the selected routine. The turquoise silks fluttered around her, bright and beautiful, seeming to envelop her silvery form as Almas, the youngest of her old troupe, danced her way through a pattern she'd had no reason as of late to memorize.

Honestly, she should be practicing with her old troupe member Adira, or Adira's son Taahir, who wasn't too much younger than she was, but, sometimes, she just wanted to practice in peace. She still wished that there were some musicians to help her keep time, but, in the meantime, she could work by herself, and just try to listen to the tune within the confines of her own mind.

User ImageHe was much quieter than he walked than either his mother or Almas. Unlike the other dancers Taahir didn't have bells he had pearls lining his attire a gift from his father. Taahir sighed, his father, the famous herd flirt. It was like almost every trip his father came back with more children. There were even solara novae in the oasis now his two sisters, plus his younger brother Nahusha who'd left on a quest to better himself. He could only guess how many siblings he had. Nahusha had said just he had four. Taahir was lucky to be an only child. He still saw how a few of the herd looked at him. No better than his father.

Taahir shook his head again. He tended to stay away from the water to avoid his father. Why couldn't his father be normal, and not sleep around. Though he should really talk with his sisters at some point they were actually quite fearsome to look at.Taahir flicked his ears as the sound of soft bells caught his attention. Someone was practicing. Either his mother or almas. Actually His mother was off with one of the brightly colored Lyra trader so it must be Almas.

Quietly Taahir approached, usually they'd all practice together, but they couldn't be together all the time. Taahir wasn't too surprised Almas had sought solitude it would be rude to interrupt. So instead he remained silent watching her, She was the youngest member of the troupe next to him. Though Mother had told him of their old troupe there were five of them all together. It must have been fun for them then. Almas was a much more experienced dancer than he was, he had to give her that, she was almost as skilled as his mother. She was quite pretty, though he'd only lately noticed how much. It was rather embarrassing, but he found himself watching her movements more closely. The way she tossed her mane, the movement of her body and... she really was pretty, gentle and kind.

Taahir tried to shake the fuzziness from his mind, as he flushed a bit. Honestly what was wrong with him. It was a good thing his coat was a chestnut color. When had he started looking at her differently? Taahir wondered. This was going to make things complicated if he didn't straighten up.

Almas didn't notice her audience at first. She didn't pause, not for a few more minutes. If she'd noticed she had an audience, especially the newest--and youngest--troupe member, and their first male troupe member, Almas would've stopped and blushed ferociously. She'd always been a bit of an innocent, dancing purely for the joy of the activity, rather than anything else, and, even if this had been a normal moment, the flush would've still stood out strongly against her silvery features.

In her mind, the music hit a stronger passage, punctuated with a greater emphasis on the drumbeats, and harsher notes from the stringed instruments. To punctuate that moment, Almas executed a series of leaps in place, balancing her weight on her hindquarters, forelegs uplifted, but held steady and tight. This had always been a difficult maneuver, but, fortunately, the music in her mind never called for more than three or four of those back to back, giving her a brief moment between each series to let her limbs hang naturally, before the music compelled her onward.

She flicked her tail for a brief instant as she settled, and the music paused for a brief moment before it continued. Waiting for the next notes to begin, she tucked head and tail in close to her body...and catching a glimpse of Taahir.

Almas jumped in surprise, turning around, music forgotten, and flushed brightly. "I, ummm, I didn't see you there, Taahir," she said shyly, wishing she could crawl under a rock and hide. No luck in the desert. Darn. She ducked her head, hoping her silky mane and her translucent silks would sufficiently conceal her features from the young stallion. Did he want to join the practice? Or was it something else?

Taahir jumped as almad did. "I'm sorry i didn't want to interrupt your practice." He flushed a bit. "I didn't mean to startle you." Damnit why hadn't he said something sooner? Or just not stared and gawked. He felt like such a colt.

"It Just didn't seem the right time to say anything." He explained softly hoping she'd stop hiding herself under her mane. It was rather a cute act though. When she danced you almost wouldn't realize how shy Almas is. she was very good at hiding it while she was performing and she always practiced hard. Especially when she was working with his mother Adira.

"Was that a new routine?" he managed to recover.
