Miyu rested in the glade, having opted to take a quiet morning off. Around her hung the scent of flowers, mostly from the cereus blossoms that adorned her. The early morning light of spring filtered through the leaves, dappling the glade with a light that promised the return of summer. She blinked her deep purple eyes as she turned her gaze toward the canopy above. Times like this were precious and beautiful, even if Miyu, like most of the herd, preferred the beauty of the stars and the moon. She smiled softly, and then turned to nuzzle the soft, pale body snuggled firmly against her side, under the blue silks she wore.

The rest of her six new fillies had already gotten up and wandered off with their father, but Asuka, the only child yet born to the family with Arcturus horn and Lyra wings, was still trying to sleep in. Miyu also privately suspected that Yasu, the other filly closest to the middle in age of the six, wasn't far away. It was fine, really. Yasu might not have the patience for lessons yet, and Asuka already seemed more interested in songs than in magic. They'd have time to grow and learn. There was no need to rush yet. Though Yue probably had more students than anticipated this time around, between their almost unheard of six foals in one pregnancy, and the fact that one of their grandsons, Equinox, had recently had three foals of his own with his lovely Arion mate.

Nine foals to teach. It had to be a lot. And, honestly, for herself and Yue, what with reorganizing the herd in the absence of Arei and her three eldest children, it was probably more than they could reasonably handle. Which was another reason Miyu was glad for times like these, when she could just relax, with only a couple of the foals actively needing her attention. Not that she'd mind company, she just hoped that said company would help her watch the foals.

Asuka snuggled firmly into the safety created between her mother's side, and her mother's silks. She wasn't fully asleep, but she was still sleepy, and in no hurry to wake up. Though she was probably missing out on lessons or games with her sisters. It was still pleasant to be lulled into a nap, surrounded by the rich fragrance of cereus blossoms. She smiled happily as she felt the nuzzle touch her flanks, shivering happily. This state of affairs couldn't last all day, but it could last a few minutes longer. More if her mother started to sing.

Miyu might not always be the first Star to burst into song, but Asuka loved songs. And the birds were singing right now, too. That just made it perfect. Birdsong might be hard to sleep to, but it was still beautiful. Asuka could miss out on games and lessons, but she always found it harder to miss out on the music that seemed all around the Moonlight Herd's territories. At least, those that the new foals could reach. And there might be good music there, too. Hopefully, once they got big enough, the fillies could go exploring together.

But, in the meantime, there was this nice time she could spend with her mother.
