Tonight was surprisingly quiet, all things considered. For the past few days Chara had encountered more and more enemies, ones that knew him by name, even if he had never met them before. They were strange and fierce and seemed to be stronger than he could ever imagine. It wasn’t enough to keep him from patrolling and fighting, hell, it made the urge to kill one of those chaos bastards even stronger! But.. There was no denying the mental fatigue that had begun to set in.

They talked and they talked while they fought. The enemy spoke of his weakness, of his worthlessness, doing their best to work away at his mind. And though he knew damn well there was no way in hell any of that s**t was true, it still scared him just a little and made the loneliness he felt that much worse.

There was also a bit of fear within him to involve any other senshi his struggles. What if they happened to be killed just like the knight who had held him in his arms the first night all this started… He wouldn’t risk that. It was bad enough it was just a stranger he had gotten killed, what if it were someone he actually knew or semi cared for?

So tonight, he patrolled alone. That was the case until he felt the aura of someone familiar nearby… It would only be courtesy tell them to stay away, right? Resigned to his loneliness, Chara went towards the light aura, just to warn them.

Quote:
When Briar slipped out on superhero detail as Oort, he quite often ended up in the park and tonight was no exception.

It had started of due to the fact that the park was close by, well at least relatively so, and because it was somewhere familiar..

But over time it had become something of a habit, because it was where he met up with Euporie who was both his tree buddy and partner in superhero-ness - although now that he was in high school such meetings tended to be more of a weekend thing.

So he had sneaked out and gone to the park, but it had been pretty quiet out - to the point where Oort had been considering venturing further afield...

Because whilst he had to be careful to make sure that he was back home before his parents, Oort also knew that he had time - because both of them were working late.

Quote:
“Oi!” Chara called out to the other Order-Aligned person who seemed to be patrolling around the park at night. He didn’t exactly look young but, Something still seemed to worry him about the other. And something felt rather familiar about them too. When he finally did recognize who it was, his eye simply sparkled in excitement! In an instant he dashed over to the other boy’s side, gripping him by the shoulders and giving him a bright, elated grin.

“Holy ********… Oort, right? Sailor Oort? It’s me, Chara! We worked together back when the whole Negaverse s**t went down, and we were in their space! Holy s**t, man it’s been so long, how are you?!” Despite his colorful language, Chara was truly excited to see the other boy, They were both different now, stronger, but they didn’t seem all too unlike they were before, except perhaps for the deep circle that could be seen under his one eye, and the eyepatch over the other.

“It’s been so long, I’m glad to see you all in one piece! You ARE in one piece, right?”

Quote:
Oort picked up on the aura first, but only barely, his mind still processing the warm aura that felt similar in strength that of Oberon’s before he heard the voice calling out his name.

Reddish eyes looked a little startled at first as he turned, eyes shifting to glance almost automatically in the direction that it had come from and then his lips quirked in a small smile as he recognised the approaching senshi.

"Chara you're okay!" Because whilst the outfit was slightly different and the eyepatch new - it really was Chara.

"And it has been a while" because it really had been. "And yes I’m okay - I was out patrolling" he said, wrinkling his nose slightly at the admission "But it’s been kind of quiet."

In fact it had been really, really quiet so far tonight - at least on his front.

"But how about you - is everything okay?" Because whilst Oort had seen Oberon and Tomlin relatively recently and knew from Oberon that Perdita was okay, it was the first time that he had seen or heard of any of the remaining others that had made up their small group from the whole Caedus portal and the Negaverse thing.

Quote:
Chara couldn’t help himself and pulled the other boy into a tight hug before letting him go, putting his hands in his pocket and just beaming. His face nearly hurt, he smiled so wide, so very different than his normal day-to-day scowling.

“Ahh, I’m glad to hear you’re okay, buddy. I’ve been worried for a long time about you guys! It’s like I couldn’t get in contact with or find anyone after that all went down. I’m glad I got to see you again, especially on a quiet night, we can catch up, if you have some time. “ His voice was excited, despite how sad the topic was. Oort didn’t need to know about that loneliness that had been eating away at him recently. It was his own problem to deal with! What WAS important was that the boy was alright!

“Oh man, so much crap happened, I’ve lost an eye, nearly killed a couple of people, for good reason of course, got stronger, and probably made some real enemies. You know, just senshi things.” The whole eye problem was his own damned fault, but… Details.

“What ever happened to you after that thing?”

Quote:
Reddish eyes widened slightly from beneath oval lenses, because Oort wasn't expecting the older boy to suddenly tug him into a hug like that..

And he might have yelped a little - he had - although he certainly wasn't going to admit to it and neither was he going to admit to the slightly reddened cheeks when the other let him go.

He wasn't sure what to make of Chara's comment about nearly killing people, but whilst he wrinkled his nose a little, Oort didn't comment on it.

"Losing an eye sounds seriously painful" he said instead - because it really did "But your eye patch looks really cool."

He huffed a little "Mum grounded me for practically forever after the whole Negaverse thing, because I wouldn't tell her where all the scratches and scrapes came from" and whilst she had finally relented eventually it had taken a while. "So I couldn't power up for a while."

He sighed "Although I guess I still wouldn't have been able to tell you since I don't have your contact details in my senshi phone."

Oort actually had very little contact details in his phone - he had Liryn's and Euporie's and Oberon's and Tomlin's - although those had come later.

"I've seen Tomlin and Oberon relatively recently though and whilst I haven't seen Perdita, Oberon told me that she's okay."

He continued "In fact Tomlin is the one who helped me be like this" Oort indicated his uniform as he spoke "We both got pulled to this place with a whole bunch of blob clone things and he helped me to power up.”

And whilst Oort was glad that he had gotten stronger, he was still a little disappointed that his magic was still a key rather than something awesome like the cat lasers that Tomlin and Horatio could do.

Quote:
The little yelp he got from hugging Oort only made him smile. It was a funny and honest reaction and it was a rare thing indeed that anything of the sort was caused by him.

“Hehe, thanks. I feel like a real baddass with it on sometimes. At least up until I mess up my depth perception and hit a wall. It’s much better now though. Sucks about your mom… Hey, let me make sure I get your number this time, okay? I can’t just be running contactless! What if you need me or something to help kick a**?” Or maybe one day you could help me too… Briefly crossed his mind, but he pushed it away shortly, not wanting to think of his more distressing times recently with Alkaid and her goonies.

“Good. Good. ******** great, really, I’m happy to hear everyone is alright.” His nose scrunched up at the mention of the cat but after an eyeroll, he let it go.

“Did I ever tell you about that cat who woke me up? Little a*****e was all like “Wahhh, Chara, you’re so mean! Boo hoo, you’re worthless as a senshi because all senshi are supposed to be nice!” or something like that. But look at me now! I’m the saltiest senshi of them all and just fine. And I’m proud of you for being so strong as well!” But wait… He still was just a chibi, wasn’t he.

“Hey… So when do you become like, a normal Senshi? I bet your attacks will just wreck some real s**t once you’re completely powered up right.”

Quote:
Oort nodded "Sure" he agreed as he pulled out his senshi phone and held it up "Want to do it now?"

He added "That way you can always call me up too" because if Chara pinged him up then Oort would do his best to help - just as he would for Euporie, Tomlin or Oberon.

He wrinkled his nose at Chara's tale about the cat, because… Because "That sucks" he admitted, because at least Horatio had stuck around to talk to him and show him her star laser that one time… Although she hadn't done much more than give him the henshin pen and tell him about the monsters–

And Oort had looked for her - in fact he still looked for her occasionally by the bagel shop near the swimming pool where they had first met - although he didn't really expect to see her again given that it had been years since they had first met.

But Tomlin was so much better and whilst there were some who perhaps might think that Oort was being biased, he didn't care.

Because Tomlin was awesome. Point stop.

"But you're strong" and Oort was being serious since he had seen Chara in action during that time in Negaspace.

He frowned at the question about becoming a full senshi and then shrugged a little "I don't know" he admitted because no one had ever told him. "But it would be really neat if my magic suddenly turns super awesome or something" but the little key that was currently his magic was anything but awesome - even if it had proved useful on occasion.

Quote:
Chara took the phone without hesitation and pulled out his own, pressing them together until the screen blipped and Oort showed up in it. With a small smile, he handed it back before shoving his own into his pocket.

“Yeah, It sucks, but what can you do? I can say I ******** hate cats, always will.” Oort didn’t need to know about the Chaos Cat he Punted not too long ago. Didn’t need the younger senshi to think he was EVIL. Just… Really really hated Mauvians.

Quote:
It didn’t take much listening for Oort to realise that Chara disliked the star cats… As in really, really disliked the star cats.

And whilst he got it, well okay at least kind of got it - it wasn’t really a position that Oort personally shared - because whilst the star cat that had given Chara his henshin pen appeared to be kind of pathetic and Horatio was gone - Liryn was okay–

In fact the small star cat had been the one to help his tree climbing buddy Kirra to become Euporie…

And there was Tomlin and Tomlin was flat out awesome.

Quote:
A slight blush came to his cheeks and he rubbed the back of his head when Oort called him strong. He KNEW he was strong and would kick anyone’s a** who doubted him again, including that ******** cat. He was just WAITING for her to show her face again. “Hehe, thanks Oort.”

After a moment, he frowned, listening to the other talk about his powers and trying to remember what they did. Sadly, he really couldn’t remember what they were.

“Well, what does it do right now anyway? My mind is imagining you taking a Key to the enemy’s forehead and turning it like a lock and you just crack open their minds. Get to be all nosy and s**t.”

Quote:
Oort pretended not to see the colour that tinged Chara’s cheeks as he took his senshi phone back. "Awesome" and it was - because at least this time round he could get a message out or something if something happened.

He shrugged slightly at the question about his magic and shook his head "Well it is a key" he admitted "But it doesn’t crack open minds or anything. Instead it kind of makes people a bit stronger for a little bit."

He thought about it for a moment before adding "Although sometimes it does the making faster thing instead - and it seems to last for a bit longer now that I’m a super senshi.”

Quote:
Not that the making stronger thing actually worked on him because - despite getting stronger - using his magic on himself still only did the making faster thing.
“Oh, so you’re more support type? That’s neat, I think. Imagine us paired up. You could give me a boost and I can just use these chocolate things to sear the skin right off of the enemy! Wouldn’t that be cool? I mean, cool in the sense that “Hey, we can protect people!” not the “I’m going to murder people for funsies” kinda way, you know?” As excitable and eager to fight Chara was, he didn’t think he was -quite- the sort to go and other humans, even negabastards, for fun.

“Do you think you’d like to.. Uh… Go and patrol together a bit? I’ve had this really freakyass lady named Alkaid stalking about me these days and would love the backup. Ooh, I think if you open up the Senshi Primer thing, there’s an article about her in there. It says “run” but you know me, I never did know how to keep my a** out of trouble. What’s the worst that can happen, I lose an eye? HAH!”

Quote:
"Yes" Oort nodded at the question because Liryn had referred to him as a support type and he had worked that way together with Transylvania - who had turned out to be one of his old Knightside classmates - well make that a year or so down from him.

"And sure I’d be up for doing senshi stuff with you" because they had kind of worked together before during the whole Negaspace thing - as well with Oberon and Tomlin and Perdita and all the others.

"Including patrolling" Oort added with a small smile, although a thoughtful frown flitted across his face at the name 'Alkaid'. "Alkaid?"

It took a few moments, but he eventually placed the name "Isn't she the one that the primer says looks like some sort of creepy broken doll?"

Well okay Oort wasn't really sure if the primer had quite put it in those terms, but he did remembered it saying something about a broken doll.

Quote:
“Sweet, thanks.” It was a relief to hear that Oort would be willing to do that, since he knew he wasn’t the most fun person to be around, given his short fuse and his face. But Oort seemed pretty cool with it all, and didn’t have the most cheerful expression most of the time either. Yes, he was sure they’d become good friends with times.

“Yup, that’s the one. She was ******** psycho too, rambling on all sorts of nonsense. And she had this attack that just… It hit hard, man, I still have bruises from where they landed. It’s like, you couldn’t avoid it at all, no matter how much you ran, nearly knocked me off the rooftop. Honestly, i don’t know how I got out of that one.” It was a mystery why that Corrupted Senshi hadn’t killed him right then and there. For all of her crazy talk, Chara really couldn’t think of a single reason why she didn’t. Not that he was complaining.

“I do say this, though, if you see her, Oort. Try to escape because i don’t think I would have lived if she hadn’t just let me go. But it’s because she let me go that I’m all ******** paranoid about it now, and it feels like her eyes are always on me. It’s creepy as hell…”

Quote:
"M’kay" Oort made a mental note that he’d have to tell Euporie to be careful of this Alkaid person - because she sounded much more creepy than all the creepy people with the holes that the Negaverse seemed to have on their side…

Because if she was as psycho as Chara was saying, and Oort had no reason to doubt him, then he didn’t want his tree climbing buddy slash senshi partner to end up getting mixed up with or anywhere near her - not if he wasn’t there to help–

Especially if he wasn’t there to help.

"But if she keeps troubling you then let me know ‘kay" he frowned "Maybe my magic can help you handle her and I could let Oberon and Tomlin know - that is if you want?" Oort made it a question, because he didn’t think that they’d mind…

And with the others to help then maybe they could help Chara deal with his Alkaid problem - because they had managed to face off against a huge dragon youma and survive and rescue a whole ton of soul crystals at the same time.

But even if Chara didn’t want him to tell Oberon and Tomlin then Oort would still try to help the other Super senshi - at least he would as best he could.

Quote:
“I’d deeply appreciate that, Oort. Like, you don’t even know how fantastic that would be.” For a moment he smiled, then it faded, and his arms came up to just cross in front of his chest, more of in a self-protecting manner than a stand offish one. Perhaps he even looked sad for a moment, if just briefly.

“I know I’m not the most friendly person out there, and I’ve been feeling alone a lot of the time too these days, ya know? Like, hey, maybe I’m not really good at the whole being a friend thing or working with other people, but I’m trying to be better about it. So I want to start with you, with Oberon and the others. You think they’d be for it, for working together as a team like we did before?”

His words seemed laced with doubt, as if he truly didn’t believe that the answer would be yes. After all, why would it?

Quote:
"Sure" and there was no hesitation in Oort’s voice as he responded to the question a decisive nod "I’d be up for it - us working together that is" because whilst he couldn’t speak for Oberon and the others he could certainly speak for himself.

"As long as you don’t mind that I’m also partners with Euporie."

It was a promise that he’d made a while back - after helping to rescue his tree climbing buddy from the Nega creep with the chocolate box.

He’d found then that she was a senshi too and had agreed that the two of them could be superhero partners–

And it was a promised that he intended to keep because Oort did his best to keep his
Promises.

"I tend to come here a lot though" and not just as a senshi - because up in the trees made for a good reading spot - well at least it did when the weather wasn’t cold.

Quote:
“What?” Chara couldn’t believe at all what he was saying, it seemed so unfathomable that someone would be willing to fight alongside him, yet there he was. And he couldn’t help but smile, nodding at the mention of Euporie.

“Yeah, sure! I don’t have a problem with that at all. I’d be happy to meet her too.” Chara was just… Delighted at this point, and tried not to let it show too much on his face, as he was pretty sure it would be a warped representation of a smile, given how much he scowled.

But smile he did and it wouldn’t go away no matter how much he fought it, so he decided to just leave it be for now. Nothing was wrong with a smile anyway.

“I’ll be sure to keep an eye out for you then. For now, let’s go find some youma to squash and be the heroes we’re supposed to be!”

Quote:
"Great" Chara’s smile brought out an answering smile from him - small and brief - but still unmistakably a smile.

He nodded at Chara’s suggestion about looking for youma - his face back to a more serious expression - because Oort had been planning to keep an eye out for them anyway.

"Yes" he agreed and he was content to walk after the older senshi, because when it came down to it the youma weren’t going to take care of themselves.

I am really bad at remembering to transfer these over from Docs - but this is a fin and now copied over
