Post warnings for the last two weeks have been sent out. A number of you may be surprised to find one in your inbox when it's not yet your turn to post. The reasons for this are simple.
If you've been waiting longer than a week for a post,
you need to skip that person and allow them to catch up later. If they are the only person you're interacting with, seek a moderator's help so that you won't be waiting months on end for a post that may or may not come.
Post Count vs Post Order
A post count is a count of posts you've done in the week. The week starts on Monday and ends on Sunday. (Unless otherwise stated you will have until 7pm ET on Sundays to post.)
When I do these,
I do not go by post order; it's simply too much of a headache to root out who you're waiting for, how long, who's next, what day the post order started on... when all I'm doing is making sure you are still an active member within the guild. I'm just checking that you meet the expectation of one post per week.
Example:
Jane posted on Monday. d**k is next in the order, and posts on Thursday. Fred's next. But Fred is busy over the weekend. If he doesn't want to be skipped over, he has 7 days to post, right?
If he waits until Wednesday of the next week to post, that means that Thor will not be able to make post count for the week, because the posting week already ended by the time it was his turn.
(Did this give you a headache? This scenario is usually how it works IRL. Not everyone in a post order will be able to start post orders on a Monday. Because of this, and the sheer number of people in the guild, it is too hectic to keep track of post orders for post counts. Imagine being the moderator who would have to do this, counting the days between each post, knowing who's next and how long they waited... with every interaction in the guild, every week. It sounds like a monumental pain in the a**, right? That's why post orders are not accounted for in post counts.)
Also, please note...
In the example above, both Thor and Fred need to have posted in the leaves thread before that Sunday night, or they are both delinquent in posts. Fred needs to say he's busy and will get to it in a few days. Thor needs to post in the absent thread,
I'm waiting on Fred to post. Please excuse me from count.)
This lets the mods know that you're still around. And it allows the people you're writing with to know what's going on. It also saves you from getting an unwanted private message from the moderators, harping at you to post.
To Reiterate
The post minimum for Academy X is one post per character per week. Orders are important to story progression, yes. We understand this. And not every post order is going to fall into a Monday-Sunday pattern (as shown above.) For this reason, we ask that if you are not going to make post minimum, you post in the leaves thread, stating that you are waiting for so and so before you can post. Please quote their username so that they see someone is waiting.
If it has been seven days since the person in a post order was eligible, skip them.
Example. Jane posted on Monday, May 1st. d**k is next in line, but Monday May 8th, there's still not a d**k post. It is now Fred's turn, officially. He has seven days to post. If he does not post, he will receive a warning.
Because this is the first time in a long time that we've enforced post counts... those who were post-locked in a stagnant order may be given a free pass this once -- if they PM me explaining that they didn't realize that they too needed to post in the absent thread.
Whew. I know that might have been confusing. Please PM me with questions. Please post on this thread that you've read this so that I know we're clear.
And as always,
Thank you!!! <3
