For a great many ponies, the trip out to the swamps was not a pleasant one. For Lady Orchid,
it was a journey she found overwhelmingly pleasant. The wind was gentle beneath her wings, and wordlessly she soared, off until the murky depths of the swamp greeted her arrival. She touched down at the swamp's edge, a gentle bow of her head to the trees and flora which resided in this wondrous sanctuary of greenery. Trotting lightly, Orchid navigated her path through the swamp, careful not to disturb any of the wildlife residing within. Better the ponies disturbed than the plants.

Her saddlebags were laden with today's books and teas, and Orchid cast her gaze around the swamp.
Was he hiding somewhere? Or was she just that out of touch?

"Willow? It's me?" She called, voice a delicate treasure among the deep greenery of the swamp.

User Image The sound of her voice lifted through the swamp, cutting through the cries of birds and the bubbling of the swamp. The water shifted and a head emerged, glowing silver orbs staring at her from the dark, black water.

"Lady Orchiiiid." The swamp called, voice distorted as if two voices were speaking at the same time. Slowly, the eyes grew closer as a pony dragged themselves from the swamp waters and crawled onto dry land. He stood there, nonplussed as he dripped dark water. Instead, his eyes were on her bags, a delicate smirk on his lips.

"Shall we sit?" He croaked lowly, nodding towards the path she was on, trailing his eyes up the path. He knew the perfect spot for their evening together. The swamp changed its layout each and everyday, and without him she'd surely get lost. Luckily, her offering of tea from time to time was enough for him to offer her a safe entry and safe exit. She wouldn't find harm in these swamps.

Anyone else may have found the display morbid and macabre, but Lady Orchid found it endearing. Willow was a strange pony, their friendship stranger, but it was delightfully refreshing in the face of how many ponies treated her. Different from the monotony of something between reverence and fear. Lighting her horn with magic, Orchid reached into her saddlebags, pulling out the sachets and thermos of water she had brought along for the trip.

"I'd rather love that, if you haven't spent too long sitting today already. I got to stretch my wings out on the way over here, and a sit my do my fat rump quite nicely." She teased, attention turning to the path he'd gestured to. A smile on her lips, she began heading off that way, knowing very well that Willow would follow, as he always did. He was a peculiar fellow, but he had wondrous taste in teas, and was always willing to experiment with her!

...And my, that sounded rather bad. Good thing she hadn't said it aloud!

"I think you're going to like what I came up with today. It's a white tea, with dried grapes and strawberries. But it's the fennel and anise that make it!" She giggled, rather pleased with the concoction she'd devised.

Willow watched her lift objects from her bags, eyes trailing after them with a curious glint to them. As she predicted, he did follow, keeping close to her as he listened. Ah, a new tea for the evening, good. He may be the 'fright of the swamp', but even he did enjoy a good drink, especially with pleasant company. Sometimes, he considered offering his own potions for a taste, but those were reserved for the less fortunate. As morbid as he was, he kept his poisons to himself when it came to those he found genuinely enjoyable.

"Fennel?" His distorted voice called quietly in question, tone deep as he considered her previous gifts. Fennel was new. The path eventually broke, revealing a small opening within the swamp that held various flowers circling two stumps and a rock in-between them, a perfect spot for them to settle. He didn't waste time, picking up his speed to claim a seat and carefully brush the rock off.

"Does this please you?" He called, gesturing towards the area absently. He'd offer her to his house, something he hadn't done yet, but he needed to clean first. This would have to do for now, although she never seemed disappointed by his pick in scenery.

"It brings out the sweeter notes of the grapes without making it too tart,"
Orchid replied to the question. Really, the good weather had put her in good spirits- when the plants of the world thrived, so did she. It was in her nature to prefer the breezy spring days where she could unfurl her wings and glide across the sky without feeling like she was going to wilt in the sun. The summer was...
not her favorite season. Sure, ponies associated winter with the death of plants,
but Orchid felt it more like a sleep- a season to rest, and to breathe, and prepare for the spring once more. Her steps were especially light with her good temper, all sorts of flowers springing up in the wake of her hoofsteps.

At their arrived spot, Lady Orchid looked around the clearing, the smile not dissipating. She giggled, just a bit, shaking her head.

"I'm pleased by the company, but it is a rather lovely spot. It feels like it's been an eternity since I spent time with you last."

He nodded absently at her answer, mind wandering already. It wasn't that she was boring, absolutely not. No, he was still stuck over whether to invite her over to try some of his blends sometime. However, her second comment snapped him from his thoughts, eerie eyes rolling to lock on her as he released a distorted laugh.

"Far too long." He agreed, although time always seemed to go slowly for him. Perhaps it was the boredom settling in. Ponies were avoiding the swamp more and more these days, and while he liked that, it also meant less victims, which was frustrating. Especially now, when Hex's lurking existence was growing more and more irritating. He needed an outlet. If he could just get that damn protection spell off her hut....

No. Focus on now. It was rude to his polite friend to be lost in thought. She was here to share tea, and he ought to be present.

"Sometimes I wonder if you'll forget this small swamp." He lightly teased.
