                                              BACKGROUND
Elroy was the son of a bred slave woman named Mattie, and second son not-so-secretly fathered by her master, Alexander Strouss. The first son was Elroys older half brother, Ricard, by the other slave in the household, Natasha. His childhood wasn't a bad one. Strouss was a wealthy businessman, who played his field well. He made sure his slaves children were well cared for, well clothed, and well educated, since they were reflections upon his own image. You could tell a lot about a man by the status of his slaves, or so it was said. So it didn't reflect well on him when Ricard ran away. Elroy was only seven years old at the time, but he could tell that things changed after his brother disappeared.

He'd never felt that he was captive before. He simply accepted the world as it was, the way that children do. But as he grew older after his brothers disappearance, he came to know what the feeling was. Captivity.

                                                  noun

As he got older, he was never allowed anywhere unsupervised. He no longer went to public school, but was tutored privately. As his abilities as a nymph developed more and more, he soon found all electrical outlets plugged, and his interaction with technology was limited. This was, of course, before home computers were commonplace. The very first one had been introduced only a year or so before. Despite all the years that had passed, and Mister Strouss having taken on a wife, he still hadn't sired any legitimate heirs to his growing fortune. The master took a more keen interest in his remaining illegitimate and his education then, bringing in more accomplished tutors and expounding greatly upon his curriculum when it became clear that Elroy had a knack for learning quickly. Despite his reservations, in the seven years that had passed since Riccards disappearance, Mister Strouss had slowly grown more lax, more confidant that his second son wasn't such a fool as the first. Not wanting to let his (potentially now) only child fall behind if he would ever have need to rely on him,Strouss caved and invested in a personal computer for his son. Back then, they were large, bulky machines that heated entire rooms when used for too long. But, perhaps feeling an affinity for it, Elroy took to it at once.

He spent the next several years immersed in his studies and in learning to navigate computers. He had a clear knack for it, and so his father encouraged him, always buying him whatever equipment or parts he needed as his wife failed again and again to become pregnant. Elroy was able to complete his high school courses early, and quickly moved on to having tutors come to instruct him in college-level work. He took a profound interest in social studies, and the history of conflict and war. He entertained novel interest in medieval torture methods and different revolutions both successful and failed.

But his love of computers and programming and tech took precedence above all else, in no small part because it pleased his father. Mister Strouss was spending more time with him, investing in his education and skills. Since Elroy got in practically on the ground floor, he grew up alongside technology over the years, learning each new step in the advancement of computer systems and programming practically as it was implemented. He was proud of himself, of his wit and skill, and he did his best to balance his education otherwise. There was even talk of Mister Strouss taking legal action to have him legitimized. But, just after Elroy turned seventeen, Missus Strouss became pregnant.

Just like when Ricard left, there was a sharp shift in his masters mood. He stopped acting as a paternal figure and once again retreated to the role of a distant slave owner, nothing more. Elroy was furious, all of his hard work having ultimately amounted to nothing, aside from being more useful. He began to withdraw, finally taking an interest in utilizing his abilities as a nymph to engage in minor mischief. Being well-behaved had earned him nothing, so instead, he started to misbehave. He transformed into an electric current and his in the lines in the walls. He possessed telephones to make them ring non stop. And when his antics annoyed his mother, he his inside of his computer system and only replied by making text appear across the screen. Soon after his little half-sister was born, there was talk of Elroy being sold. Rather than be subjected to that, he decided that his older brother had had the right of things. He packed all of the tech he could carry, and he ran away.

Unlike Ricard, Elroy was nearly twenty by the time he fled. Clumsily, he cut his chip out of his shoulder the first night. But poor bandaging, bad conditions, as well as a lack of knowledge on how to properly care for small wounds, led to it becoming infected. Eventually he healed up, but the scar was more gnarly than it should have been. He made a plan for himself and stuck to it, eventually snaking in to the territory which had recently been claimed by a group called Haven. He made himself useful in whatever capacities that he could, st first. He scavenged for scrap with other runaways, salvaging what pieces of tech he could find and helping to either make it useful, or paring off the parts that were worthwhile to sell. He began piecing together his own computer rigs, when he wasn't possessing power generators to run on his own power to aid the other runaways. He spent years and years slowly building up his small tech empire, focusing more and more on making deals via the deep web, and channeling the income to provide valuable food and goods to other Haven members. He soon had a slew of online aliases, and eventually turned his sights on what he perceived to be the real problem; slavery as a whole. He did his best to alter documents, fry tracking chips, and break down government systems in digital attacks. But he could only do so much on his own. He started launching coordinated attacks on city-wide systems, frequently tacking down blackouts in populated and industrialized areas. While the city could usually get things back up within an hour or two, it cost them a pretty penny every time they did. As the years went on, he started causing more and more trouble. He frequently had to relocate himself and his systems once the investigators started trying to track him down. Once he narrowly escaped only by jumping into a nearby powerline and abandoning all of his equipment after forcing a complete meltdown on his machines. He hated having to start from the ground up again, but in the end it paid off well enough. He started tagging his online attacks on government sites and systems 'Deja Vu.' It was his way of saying "We've been here before. History will repeat itself."

                                                  noun
                                                  1. the illusion of remembering scenes and events when experienced for the first time
                                                  2. something overly or unpleasantly familiar

Deja Vu came to be known as a vicious anonymous cyber-terrorist. He even got so bold as to forewarn certain establishments and branches of his intended target strike times, and would even hold them hostage at peak traffic times in exchange for certain data or currencies.

After a time, it came to his attention that Haven members were having to repeatedly run off an ink mage who couldn't seem to take a hint. Roy went on a hunt to find out everything about him that he could. His name, his education, where he was born, his online foootprint, everything. Once carefully assessing his threat level as low, he reached out to Julian. The two began cooperating to falsify documents for certain runaways to legitimize them as citizens. Julian made the physical papers (something Roy could never do) while he himself crafted a digital ID for them, falsifying online presences and timelines to make sure they appeared in the systems as an average civilian with years of online history. It was gratifying work, and he got along well with Julian. They learned from each other, even if Elroy tended to disagree with the mage when it came to politics. After all, he was young, and naive. He'd looked forward to teaching him.

Unfortunately, the chance never came. While out on one of his regular scrapping runs with two other Haven members who he was close with, Crownless dogs found them. Despite the trios best efforts, Cross' men were expert manhunters. Elroy was shot with a suppressor, preventing him from escaping through nearby power lines. He and both of his friends, without legitimate connections to the outside, had no one topside looking for them. Like most runaways, they simply vanished, and ceased to be. Thus, Elroy began his two-year stint as one of Crownless' illegals.

There isn't much to be said for those two years. Crownless wasn't interested in Elroys skills as a domestic terrorist, and he wasn't much of a fighter. They used him for what purposes suited him, keeping him drugged and sedated. Elroy eventually managed to escape by only pretending to eat the food that was offered. It was difficult, only holding the food in his mouth to spit it out later when he was slowly starving. Being off of what they had him on hurt, made his nerves screech and made him crave it. But he held out long enough for the regular suppressors to wear off so he could escape through the power lines of the compound. He disappeared for a few months, secretly trying to locate the friends who had been abducted with him, but to no avail.

Eventually, Deja Vu resurfaced, more aggressive than ever. Twice as paranoid, twice as secretive, and twice as vengeful, Elroy dedicated the remainder of his energy into dismantling the system. He believes that the only way to end slavery is to end the government. Now, of course, he also makes a regular target of Crownless trades and systems whenever possible.

                                              ABILITIES
                                              ▬ POWER FORM
As an electric nymph, Roy is capable of altering his body into pure, compounded electrical energy. He can remain generally human shaped, like a giant ball of light and static, or (more frequently) he can compress himself down or zip through metal and power lines. He can maintain this form for as long as he likes. It makes him very difficult to harm or put hands on. However, in this form, he can be forcibly controlled by electric mages who are skilled. He also cannot interact very well with most physical objects in this shape, without resorting to some form of Electronic Possession.

                                              ▬ ELECTRONIC POSSESSION
When in his power form, Roy can seep himself into the circuitry of any electronic device or machine. Once inside of said device, Roy is free to control it however he sees fit. This usually comes with some drawbacks. Unless it's a device with a camera, he can't see, things of that nature. He is also much more clumsy with devices that he is unfamiliar with..He can be forced out of devices by breaking them. However, particularly with machines he's more familiar with, he can be an incredible nuisance. He has also spent a lot of time practicing seizing the control panels of large construction equipment.

                                              ▬ DIGITAL DISASTERS
Roy has been working with computers and programming since the dawn of personal computers. He's incredibly familiar with all forms of internet tracing, planting viruses, bugs, and seizing control of systems. Hes a whiz at infiltrating private servers and causing cataclysmic damage.
