Emily had decided it would be a good night to perhaps do a little digging, and even more perhaps...run into Sanidine again. No, not Sanidine. Michel. It was so difficult to remember that...but that’s how things were now...so she had to deal with it. And remember it.

She left the library at closing time and walked a good distance away before powering up, giving a small sigh as the chaos welled inside her, changing her clothes from the normal ones she had worn to work to the rose covered dress and boots of Lieutenant Bellite.

When she finished, she glanced around, already on guard as she felt an order aura somewhere nearby, her bell springing to her hand without much conscious thought to it. What if whoever it was had seen her? What if they wanted to fight? What if…

Just what if.

Alya had decided to be a better fighter, he had to be more aware of the limitations of his body. He’d been training on a roof—out of the way and hopefully out of sight, but somewhere that gave him a vantage point if he felt someone show up on his radar. He’d done his stretches, and was testing out his strength on some old boxes and bags of rice. This wasn’t a workout like he’d have at the gym, but he wasn’t here to beef up—just know what he was capable.

His upper body strength seemed a little stronger, but it was what his legs could do that really seemed to be impressive. He’d noticed that he was significantly better at jumping—something he realized he was enjoying as he leapt across the rooftop.

Now, he was prepared to leap across the rooftop, from this building to the next.

He was prepared—he was ready. He took off at a run and prepared to make the jump—and then he felt it.

The energy signature suddenly burning on his radar, right on top of him.

The tip of his shoe caught the back of the ankle on his other foot only inches before he reached the rooftop’s edge. It was too late to catch himself or slow down.

Instead, he tripped, right over the edge of the building. He let out a startled yelp and desperately twisted to try and catch the ledge but it slipped from his fingertips.

He fell, in slow motion. He could see the cracks in the wall and the slight plume of dust that fell with him in vivid clarity. The stars suddenly sparkled so much brighter, in the distance.

The fall lasted for a total of three seconds, but it felt like a minute.

And then he crashed into Bellite.

Bellite let out a shriek of terror and confusion as the senshi attacked her. At least that’s what she thought was happening as she was crushed to death by a blonde senshi who had so much hair. Thank goodness she had summoned her weapon upon feeling the order signature, for now she was using it, whacking the sturdy bell against whatever part of the senshi she could find.

“Get off! Get off! Get off! Don’t you dare attack me, senshi I’ll destroy you, get off!”

It wasn’t that she was...scared but she was surprised and confused and...and he wasn’t even hurting her so...so maybe this wasn’t an attack but…

“What are you doing?” Her heart felt as though it was going a million miles an hour and finally she managed to wrench herself away from the senshi, stumbling quickly to her feet, her bell poised to do more damage to him.

“I haven’t even done anything wrong!”

Ow, stop it! Stop it!” Alya cried out, trying to roll off of her and shield his head. She’d gotten in a few good whacks and by the time she got away and stood up, he was doing the same—only, he was clutching his head.

“What are you doing? I could have broken my back! And you could have brained me!”

He was alive, that was the good part, except he hurt a bit. He’d feel this in the morning, he just knew it.

He held one hand to his head and moved to rub his other hand to his back. “Oh, ow,” he whimpered again, eyes drifting to the roof and then back to the Negaverse agent. “I wasn’t attacking you, I fell off the roof.”

Bellite blinked, her confusion melting and a frown taking its place. “Oh...oh, oh I’m so sorry…” She felt really, really bad. Guilt was rushing through her veins. She banished her bell and walked over, trying to get a closer look at him. “I’m so sorry, are you okay? I just thought you were attacking me and I panicked and...well. Now we’ll both end up having some bruises I think…”

Though he would end up with a lot more than she would. She wasn’t holding back with her hitting. “I’m Bellite, and I’m so so sorry. Do...do you need ice or anything? I...I could run and get some for you...you fell off the roof? How on earth did that end up happening?”

Alya relaxed when he realized that the agent seemed like she was genuinely apologetic. “I’m okay,” he insisted, partly because he was pretty sure he was still in one piece and really did want to reassure her—and partly because, if she was lying, he certainly didn’t want her to think she had the upper hand against him right off the bat.

“My name is Alya, um. Thank you for breaking my fall, Bellite.” He chanced a quick smile. “I was practicing, seeing how far I could jump. You weren’t on my radar, and then you were—you startled me and I tripped. I didn’t mean to fall on you, honest. Are you all right?”

The lieutenant waved a hand, trying to assure him that she was fine without words. Because she was fine. Just a little freaked out or something. No big deal, really.

“I’m fine, I’m fine. I just...I just you know. Was going out for a bit and then you were on my radar, and I guess I just freaked out thinking it was some sort of attack from above when you fell on me...but uh, it was a pleasure to break your fall...I would do it again in a heartbeat, and I promise if it happens again, I won’t treat you like a roach I’m trying to squish either. Seriously. I’ve at least learned that lesson, figure out what’s going on before hitting whoever or whatever it is.”

Bellite grinned and shook her head. “I uh...are you having a good night, besides all of this? You’re staying safe, aren’t you...Alya? It’s a pleasure to meet you. I’m not really the violent type, honest.”

Her grin was infectious; Alya managed to return one. “Well, it was going alright—until I fell,” he confessed. “But that was my own fault—I should have paid more attention to what I was doing. I came out here to train, to get stronger and…I mean, I suppose this has to count as a lesson, right?”

He smiled again and laughed slightly, friendly enough. “I mean, I hope so, at least. I’d be really disappointed if I get all bruised up and it doesn’t even count for anything. Say, though—you’re…awfully nice, for a Negaverse Agent, aren’t you? Most of the ones I’ve run into—or, rather, they run into me. I didn’t fall into them or anything. But, most of them seem like they want me dead. You…don’t?”

Bellite shrugged. “I don’t even know you. Why would I want to see you dead? I...I was brought into the Negaverse because of my research skills, not because I was someone who was bloodthirsty or anything like that...I’m a lousy fighter and don’t like to really go out alone but...but I don’t really have much of a choice anymore so...I’m doing what I can.”

She shrugged again, pleased that the conversation was going so well. “I’m hoping to rank up a bit though, I would like to be stronger, and I am very excited for the ability to teleport. We get to do that when we’re stronger, I read about it. See, we have this great beautiful library that’s just brimming with information and I just want to learn all I can...so…” With a sigh, Bellite looked almost sad. “But, right now I can’t get to it on my own, so I just have to get stronger...so that one day I can. I’m a knowledge seeker, not a warrior...but, my General told me that it was fine for me to be what I am...so I am.”

There was absolutely no reason at all for her to be telling him all of this...other than the fact that she was very lonely, and he seemed like a very good listener.

Alya listened intently, nodding every few seconds. He had stopped rubbing his back and was standing up straighter and seemed like he was feeling a little better. When she mentioned teleporting, he exclaimed, “Oh, I want to do that…”

His lips pursed and he shook his head quickly. “I mean—I don’t want to be in the Negaverse or anything, but when I was a kid, I wanted the ability to teleport so badly. I thought I’d gotten stuck with the power of invisibility but—” he laughed suddenly and seemed to derail himself. “Everything I know about the Negaverse says that they’re bad people. What were you researching that was so important you wanted to work with them?” he asked, tilting his head to the side curiously.

“I’m so excited to gain the ability...it’s going to be so much fun, I think. From what I’ve read, when you first start out doing it, it makes you wickedly tired though, so you have to be careful. And, Alya, if you ever joined, you would be more than welcome to come and stay with me. I’m not trying to recruit or anything, just if it ever happens, you won’t be out on your own.” Bellite grinned and tossed back some of her hair which had fallen over her shoulder.

“Um, well, I mean, I just like learning everything so...it’s not just one thing I’m researching anymore...I mean, it was, I was researching everything I could about youma, but...that’s all been taken care of, so now I just...want to know everything. But...like I said I haven’t been able to go to the library for a while now and I’m just...starting to get a little unhappy with that. Do you research things about your side? I’d like to know all about that too, if you have anything interesting to share!”
PostPosted: Mon May 08, 2017 9:53 pm

Alya blinked. “You were researching youma? I have a question about them! How do you—you know—stop them from trying to eat you? Because I met one and he was so tall—and he talked! He said he was a General’s youma and it just freaked me out so much, okay. I ran away. It was pathetic, I know, but I’m pretty sure if I’d just stayed, he’d have eaten me. I mean—I understand if you don’t want to tell me, it’s just—it’s a lot like how I imagine being chased by a bear is. I didn’t want to get in trouble, he just. Wanted to eat me.”

Alya shuddered thinking about it and then shook his head. “I don’t really have any information to exchange for that, though—have you ever thought about un-joining the Negaverse? Um, I don’t know what you like to research, but I know that all the Senshi, all the Knights—they all have their own unique homeworld. So if you think one library is cool, imagine a whole universe of them! I bet there’s so much unexplored and just waiting to be discovered.”

His eyes almost seemed to sparkle, as though some thought had suddenly hit him. “I have my own planet. I have a whole world that’s just mine. And I’ve never even been,” he muttered, as if the thought was ridiculous. “I’m afraid to go on my own, to be honest, but I have a whole world that needs researching. If you don’t like fighting, you could always leave the Negaverse and focus on exploring and researching worlds? Oh—and imagine all the cosmic history that’s stored on those other worlds!”

“He...talked and told you he wanted to eat you? That’s...Evan couldn’t talk...that’s very interesting.” Bellite suddenly wanted to be in the library more than anywhere else right now...maybe...maybe she would be able to run into someone who could drop her off there...and then she could make the trip back whenever...well, whenever she could find someone to give her a ride back.

She almost didn’t hear what he said, so lost was she in her own thoughts, but finally her head snapped up. “Y-you mean like purifying? I mean, I’ve...I don’t think...I don’t know. But...if you’re suggesting that I come with you up to your homeworld...I am telling you right now that I would absolutely be thrilled to, if you don’t want to go alone. I’d love to see space, and go with you and discover new things...do you think there’s a library up there?”

The lieutenant looked starry eyed and ready, and would most likely be completely crushed if this hadn’t been what he was talking about. “Seriously, could we go sometime?” She paused. “What...what are you the senshi of, anyway?”
PostPosted: Mon May 08, 2017 9:54 pm

Though Alya heard her mumbling to herself, the name ‘Evan’ meant nothing to him and he didn’t have enough information to properly pry. When her attention snapped back to him, he just smiled—and he knew that he couldn’t say no.

Her eyes were too pleading, too innocent.

He didn’t think she belonged with the Negaverse at all; she didn’t have any of the malice or anger in her eyes than the others had seemed to.

“Apathy,” he answered, “But I assure you, I am full of passion. I feel many things, so if anything it’s a bit of a cruel sphere. I’m full of emotions and not at all boring. And if you want to come up with me some time—as long as it isn’t a trap—I would take you. Maybe you’ll find something up there interesting enough to change your mind,” he smiled. “I mean, I don’t know so much about the Negaverse but they seem like the sort of person to yell at you if you don’t do what they want—and all the ones I’ve met, nearly—except for you—were like, obsessed with fighting. But, it’s just a thought! No pressure. As long as you aren’t gonna hit me with a bell or anything, maybe you can help me research my planet sometime? We can learn about things together?”

“I would absolutely love that more than anything, Alya. Seriously. Thank you!” Bellite was practically jumping up and down in her excitement. But, if she was going, she would have to pack and be ready...she would need a camera and a notebook, and...ugh.

At least it would take her mind off of everything, planning a trip to space.

“Thank you...I’m so beyond excited...and I’m not going to hit you again, I shouldn’t have hit you tonight, and I can assure you if I hadn’t been so on edge, I wouldn’t have, and I am truly sorry. Please go home and put some ice on your head...I don’t think I hit you hard enough to give you a concussion or anything, but perhaps just be careful about sleeping for a little while? Take care of yourself, please. I don’t want you getting more seriously hurt because of me...I wouldn’t be able to stand that, truthfully.”

Maybe...maybe she wasn’t meant to be a part of the Negaverse...but...it was good to have compassion no matter which side you were on, right? There had to be at least a few who felt as she did...at least she hoped so.
