He never thought he would be ever be on a island. Those were places for people who had so much extra cash that they decided to visit crazy places for a week. It was for people who went to Disney word and owned more than 1 car. People who had a retirement fund and didn't need coupons.
It was surreal as he walked, dressed in a white tank top and shorts, his sneakers tied by the laces and draped over his shoulder as he walked. Someone had said stuff washed up on shore so he was keeping his eye out while also just looking out at the water and the trees. He needed to buy one of those lounge chairs and beer. Really get the whole rich dude experience.

The sandcastle had taken all morning to build, just up out of the reach of the tides. Mikael had built a very good little replica of the Deus buildings, carefully flattening roofs and walls with a makeshift sand crafting kit he'd borrowed from various places and with a bucket next to him.
Patting the Life labs with a spatula he set it down and picked up a little wooden statue carved from driftwood and painted to look like himself and he set it on the roof. He just looked at it, daydreaming and thoughtful for a few long moments, and it was the only thing that existed in the world.

Kai stood behind Mik, staring at the little buildings. He knew them enough now from his many walks, and while he still felt new, he knew the names. It was intricate, better than anything he ever saw, but then again, he never had been on a beach before. <********. Dat's good man. Even got like, all the little paths and s**t." He knelt down to his knees to look at it. "How the hell you make the windows there?" He pointed out to the dorm building.
He didn't think the man would mind, considering he made the sandcastle out in the open. It wasn't exactly something you did when you wanted a secret hobby, and he didn't seem to mind him when he walked over. It wasn't what he expected to find when walking on the beach, but it was still something.

Mikael didn't seem too startled by being addressed and smiled. "Thanks!" he said without turning around. "I do some of the little fiddly bits with toothpicks and stuff to reinforce them or like, cardboard bits. Otherwise things could collapse, I just try things and see what works."
He smiled at his little creation. "I'd love to build actual buildings one day."

"Why can't ya? Whole beat up town got all the stuff. Steal some s**t and make something. If junkies can do you, you can." He narrowed his eyes and looked more at the detail, placing one hand on the sand as he leaned to one side.
"You staring at this place a while? You got stuff I didn't notice."

"Maybe." he said doubtfully. "That sounds a bit like stealing though. The sand doesn't belong to anyone so I'm usually ok with that."
"I've been here for three years." he said distantly. "So I've had a lot of time to look at the buildings and things, some of them you can see the different parts that have been added on, others you can't."

"Those broken down bits don't belong to nobody. You'd be cleaning up. Like old bricks and crap. Recycling." He sat down and continued to stare at the buildings.
"Got a good memory. I didn't notice a lot of this. What do you do here for 3 years?"

“Maybe.” Mik said. “But what if they actually belong to someone? Someone who just hasn’t come back to get them? What if I built something and they wanted it back?” he seemed dubious about the morality of the situation and decided the best person to ask about it was Rodney. Rodney would know if it was okay to take some stuff to build with from towns. He wouldn’t ask his dad because he would say yes it was fine and he should take stuff from normal people’s rooms and houses too if he wanted.
“I don’t know if I have a good memory.” He said. “I’ve just been here a really really long time. I’ve not done much, just like, made sandcastles, painted, nothing much else other than that. I don’t think they’ll ever promote me, I’m not useful. I can’t even decide what division I should be in.”
