Well. It was bound to happen sooner or later. Riagan thought as he looked at the posted names for chore assignments. He'd finally been put with the candidate that (for reasons he himself couldn't fully explain) he'd been avoiding since the moment he first arrived here at the Weyr.

It's not like he was really trying to avoid him.. He just never knew what to say. If they were meeting as strangers, it would be easier. But from the moment he saw him, he knew exactly who he was. The son L'mul had spoken of so much in recent turns.. How could he not know? The problem was, he'd left it too long. If he'd gone up to him at the start and just said 'Oh, hey! I know your dad.' that would be one thing. But at the time, for some reason, he had frozen, not sure what to say. After that, he was always telling himself 'it's not a good moment' or 'I'll just talk to him next time'. But the longer that went on, the harder it got. Now that several months had passed, it seemed odd to suddenly bring it up.

But then, could he just pretend not to know him? Wasn't that somehow worse? he thought, grabbing the snack box of tools they would need for the chore. he sighed as he headed out to the Bowl to the pen whose fence needed mending, still running through what to say in his head. With any luck, Rhey would be late and he have more time to think of it.
