Despite the clock chiming nine at night, Zach and Fai set foot into a dim sum restaurant still open at this hour. The boy felt ravenous but was willing to wait, especially since he had so many questions for Fai. Chibis? Children in the war? How was that even possible? What cat in their right mind would do such a thing? The thought was unconscionable. Who could do that to a kid? A tired-looking waitress sat them in a booth, commenting that the restaurant would only be open for another hour. That seemed like plenty of time to have a good meal and discussion with Fai. "Man, I'll take whatever you give me. Order us somethin' tasty, okay? I wanna know more about this kid problem..." The boy used air quotes and hushed tones until the waitress was far enough out of earshot. "...I wanna help keep 'em safe if I can, you know. Somebody's gotta keep an eye on these kids..."

Shaking his head as he slid into his seat he went to grab the napkin, which was wrapped about a set of chopsticks and a soup spoon, and unrolled it. "Alright, I'll grab whatever comes by that's good." Since the food came out on carts and they could just grab whatever they wanted.
This was the sort of dim sum place where they didn't order food so much as they took off a cart whatever they felt like. It wasn't long, thankfully, before a cart was passing by and he started to grab things off of it. He knew how much the other said he needed, calories wise, and with how many he himself burned off he figured they weren't going to have to worry about gaining any weight.
Grabbing soup dumplings, sui mai, har gau, the other buns he got were filled with chinese barbeque pork. Those items put onto the table he got up, seeing another cart across the way, and went to get some more things, telling the other to start eating while he went to get some more things. If they were going to be eating he was going to grab a lot of options for the other to try, hopefully find some things he liked, while they both took in a lot of calories.
Rolled rice noodles, that were filled, and covered in soy sauce came back with Fai along with chicken feet that were more for himself than the other.
"Hmmm...we can start with this..." Though he was planning to grab more items, as there were a lot of dishes he liked at a dim sum place. It was one reason he liked the places, lots of options in small amounts so a lot could be had.
"If you see anything on a cart that you want to try - grab it." If the other didn't like it he himself was likely to finish it. There wasn't much he didn't like. He didn't like tripe, that was one of the things he wouldn't touch.

Zach clapped his hands together, rubbing them in anticipation of stuffing his face full of delicious food. He didn't know what at least half of all the foodstuffs in front of him were, but he wasn't about to turn it down. A little of this, a little of that... he filled the decent-sized plate before him and started digging in. "So... how you been, Fai?" he asked around a mouthful of food. Coughing, Zach chewed and swallowed quickly, realizing how rude it was. "...I've been trying to train more, and go to the gym and stuff... started swimming too. Tryin' to get some more muscle, you know?" Whether or not he was successful... remained to be seen. It was a process. The dumplings, dumplings galore, those were a definite favorite. Buns filled with barbecued pork were delicious. "I think you said the power went out after Chicken McNugget started raisin' hell... I wonder how much property damage that all racked up? It's crazy... they don't put a lot'a this stuff on the news. Seems like they just don't wanna, or nobody wants to hear about it."

Laughing as he watched the other eat, and enjoy the food, he went for the chicken feet himself. Using chop sticks, so he was a bit on the neat side, he ate away what was there before going for a soup dumpling. Plopping it into his spoon, using his chopsticks to do so, he nibbled a hole into it before going for the soy sauce and vinegar mixture, some ginger as well, and added that to the dumpling before consuming it.
"I've been well. Keeping up with my own lessons and visiting the home world." He was glad he'd found what seemed to be a city, maybe a capital city, as it was some progress made and it was what he'd been hoping to achieve at some point.
"Yeah, it did. There are a lot of options. The media also could be under someone's control." With family in a country like China, where that was a thing, and North Korea near to China he understood that media could easily be controlled and hushed up. That was a possibility and one he'd considered. If that was the case...he didn't like the implications - not one bit.
"I think people would want to hear about it. I mean they call these things terrorist acts...I think there is more to it." Going for another foot before going for a roll of rice noodle.

Visiting the home world...Zach loudly swallowed the food he had and paled. He hadn't been to his own homeworld and he was a super senshi now. It was embarrassing. "What is Cetus like, Fai? Are there lotsa... ya know... kappas runnin' around with those bowls on their heads?" Zach tried to keep his voice low, especially when the waiters came by with the food carts. He was incredibly interested in Cetus' homeworld and leaned forward in his seat for further details. The media being under Negaverse control wasn't something Zach had ever really thought of. In truth, it was a brilliant idea. No wonder the regular citizens of Destiny City seemed to dislike the senshi - if the Negaverse controlled the information that disseminated through the city, they could easily influence public opinion. How crazy was that? It would explain so much... The boy sighed and leaned back in his seat. One thing at a time. Can't fight the media all by ourselves. Gotta focus on checkin' out the homeworld first, maybe. If it's not full of lethal dinosaurs with laser beams in their eyes or something. Ugh.

"No, nothing living. Woods...a river, a bamboo forest...and then a city in a valley. An empty city with no people. I doubt anything lives on Cetus aside from plant life." He was pretty damn sure of that, even as the words escaped his lips. He had no proof, just a strong feeling of this being the case. "I'm not sure what I'd think of a living kappa, if they hold true to Japanese mythology." Given their nature he wasn't sure what he'd think, but he knew he'd have brought cucumbers with him the second time he visited.
"If you want you can come with me the next time I go. It's not a bad place...inviting really, for those who don't mind woods and lots of walking." Shrugging his shoulders a bit before going for something else to eat and pointing out something to the other, something he might like.
"And once you visit your home...you can tell me about it." Or show him. He wouldn't mind seeing it, he was interested. he was interested in homeworlds right now because he'd discovered more on his, found what he'd been seeking. He wanted to know if it was just his without life, aside from the plant kind, or if others were the same. Was there bacteria and such on his...could a person pick up an illness there? It was an interesting thought really, though also unpleasant and maybe a bit unsettling as well.
"I did wonder, soon after awakening, why the government - like the national guard wasn't involved in what's going on in this city. It would explain it." He spoke, lowering his voice, as he watched the other. it would explain so much.

Zach sipped the green tea that was brought out to them. "Nothing living? Besides the plants, anyway, that's kinda creepy. Don't you think? What happened to all the people and the animals and stuff?" Denebola had mentioned her planet, lovingly nicknamed Pern, was long extinct as well. The super senshi told tales of dragonfly mounts and cities hidden deep within a thick jungle. It orbited a star that kept the place lit and warm. Crazy, when one stopped to think about it. Nobody knew about these exotic, amazing, alien places. The science textbooks in school spoke nothing of ancient civilizations existing anywhere except Earth itself. The invitation to visit Cetus caused Zach to chuckle. "Well... if nothin's living up there, that means no Kappa, which means no soul-sucking weirdos with bowls of water on their heads. Sounds good to me! I still... haven't gone. Haven't decided when I wanna do that... a dead place seems real creepy to me." Zach did a lot of things, but creepy was not one of them. The boy nodded confidently to Fai's assessment of the media and the lack of governmental interference. "You'd think the internet woulda caught onto this stuff by now, you know? Everybody's got a cellphone with a net connection, you'd think the property damage would be all over YouTube 'n s**t. s**t's crazy, Fai. s**t's crazy."

"I honestly don't know. I could always ask my cousin, see if she knows anything. She's been at this longer than I have." Though he really couldn't be sure if Mei even knew. Maybe someone else would, maybe she could point him somewhere. But it was indeed a bit creepy.
"Dead or not it's not too bad, a little creepy but more lonely than anything. I think I'd say it's like going to an ancient city...to what remains and being the only person there." That was the best he could do to describe it, it was true really. "I suggest when you go, bring food and water, compass, flashlight, and other important things. You don't know what will be there so you don't know what you'll need." It was best to be safe and ready for anything. They were dealing with space, planets and stars that once housed civilizations, and magic above all else - they were dealing with magic.
"It's on the internet...just not as much as it should be or as much as you'd expect. Seung saw it before moving here, when researching it. It worried him, rightly so, but it's not as big as it should. You have how much going on with terrorism in the world, it's a big topic and one for concern. Yet this supposed terrorism is...ignored. That doesn't make sense." And it never had. With such a focus on terrorism and mass killings, attacks and other things you'd figure this would be on the news and getting all kinds of attention and help and more. Very little though.
"I don't trust it or like it. But how do you counter it? You'd need to do it in a covert way...and even then - what will it accomplish? Get the world out...maybe a bit more." Shrugging he went for a bun to eat.

"It's like one of those abandoned cities, you know? Chernobyl? Where everything's super quiet and there's nobody around... way creepy. Are all the worlds like that?" Zach looked down at the tea he'd been holding, thoughts drifting to a mental drawing board to attempt to suss out the reason for the lack of human life on other planets. Maybe some interstellar nuclear explosion took everybody out. It was strange - Zach had never once, before becoming a senshi, thought that life could exist on other planets within the solar system. Other galaxies? Maybe. Statistically it's very likely. But knowing now that cities with whole civilizations existed and were wiped out by some unknown reason... Staring into the tea, Zach sighed. "Denebola used somethin' on her cellphone to go to the star. Is that how you do it? You just hit a button and boom, there you go? Nobody really sat and explained it, and I'm not really keen on runnin' around a dead planet with creepy critters possibly lurkin'... probably need to bring a flashlight and a friggin' shotgun in case anything gets an idea that I look nice 'n tasty. No thank you." As far as Zach could tell, there was nothing a pair of friends at a dim sum restaurant could do to overthrow the media choke hold the Negaverse seemed to have on information circulating in and outside Destiny City. It was too great of a problem for them at the moment. Perhaps, in the future, an idea might take hold that could grow into a movement to benefit the citizens caught in the middle of the war. "...man, I dunno. I still haven't gone to my moon... it's scary how much info isn't getting out, but just knowin' some of it's out there... that means the Negas aren't getting all of it. That's good, right?"

"I don't know but mine is a bit like that...just not modern. Think like ancient China...or Japan." Shrugging a bit as he grabbed one of the rolled rice noodle dishes to himself. Chopsticks easily worked to cut it up and eat it slowly.
"it's not than that, but that is a part of is. Focus on your planet...you'll feel it....like a pull and a feeling of...home or calm. Focus on that and hold on...and yes the phone thing." He stated as he went to grab up a dumpling and offered it to the other, after dipping it into a soysauce and vinegar mixture. Some ginger sticking to it.
Nodding his head he felt a small smile tug at his lips. "It is, though it's still not what it should be all things considered. I don't think we can fix it either. it would take a lot of people, tech savvy people among other things." And he knew no such people.
"I say focus on the fighting and on the homeworld...those things we can impact at least. This idea...while it's terrifying...we can do little to nothing about. It also means, if I'm right, that the opposition has a massive hold on things outside of this city....which makes me wonder...how? Are none of us out there - just in this city? or what happened. I don't know and I don't know if my cousin does. The best idea is finding some who may know...some who have been around longer." As he doubted they'd be able to pry such information from the other side.

Sleet Tempest Snape I think we can probably wrap here, or with one more post! Ancient China or Japan... Zach had seen pictures of the Great Wall and various Buddhist temples from hundreds of years ago in high school history books, but admittedly, he knew very little about either place. It sounded really neat, and probably safe, if there weren't any soul-stealing, bowl-wearing bastards running around in the woods. "...you think you could take me sometime? I'll bring the shotty, heh." Listening to Fai's description of the whole process, Zach nodded. He knew there had to be more to the process than just pressing a button. Fai filled in the missing information - a connection to the world. But how do you form a connection with a place you've never been? Maybe he needed to talk to his sister, and Ember too. Cats knew more than they let one. Little fuzzy masterminds, they were. Maybe his sister knew about the events that led up to the home worlds of senshi being wiped out. There had to be a reason. Mass extinction didn't just randomly happen. Leaning back in his seat, the boy latched his hands behind his head to stretch. "...yeah, you're right. Not much just the two of us can do, but at least some info's getting out. I'll ask around, but... Training and homeworld stuff... that seems more pertinent right now." Yes, Zach knew a word as sophisticated as pertinent - he just didn't use a larger vocabulary all that often. "But before we get all serious, I want some'a what's in that bowl..." With a laugh, Zach leaned over the table, supporting his weight with his good arm, chopsticks clicking in anticipation.

"I can bring you, sure. Just bring the basics...and no weapons - you won't need it." He was certain of it. He was sure there was nothing living at his homeworld aside from vegetation, sad as it was. He might have wished for kappa, or people, to be there but that might cause an issue if either thing was living there...like lots of questions - too many questions. Not to mention the danger and need for cucumbers, a lot of them.
Laughing at the others antics he offered him the steamer and shook his head. "Take what you want. Plenty of food and we can get more." And he was covering the cost so no worries for the other.
"And also we can make allies - friends in this. We can learn from them and them from us." It helped to have allies and friends. As much as he might not like the idea it would benefit them all and he planned on surviving this mess, so he'd do what he had to.
"I know a knight I can introduce you to. He has a fiance who is the same as well...actually his elder cousin is also...his younger cousin is like us." A senshi. It was a family thing. "His fiance's brother too is like them." A knight. The whole family was really a part of it, but it meant they all went out together and it made for good allies - close allies. It also meant a huge weakness which an enemy could exploit easily. it was a good and a bad thing really.
"Anyway...I think we should finish here. Our waitress might kill us." Pointing towards her, she seemed to be waiting for them and two other tables to finish. The place was getting ready to close and it was close to the time they were due to close. That said he hurried to eat what he could manage, planning on them polishing off what was on the plate before he'd get up to pay for everything.

Despite Fai’s reassurances, Zach still considered bringing a pocket knife. Just in case. The problem was, in his senshi outfit, he was desperately lacking pockets. Did the senshi of the past not need to carry anything?? It was madness! “I bet my sister probably knows why everybody’s gone off the homeworlds. She’s a little weird but she said she’s been in this whole war thing for like, six years or somethin’. It’s crazy how long your family members can hide this stuff from you, but anyway…” Plucking a dumpling off of Fai’s plate, Zach couldn’t help but grin. Then he regretted everything immediately when the dumpling turned out to be spicier than he anticipated. Coughing fit aside, Zach figured this was his karmic retribution for stealing. “...maybe you guys can meet sometime, and I’ll meet Swiss Family Magicalsons. I mean, the more friends we got, the better off we are.” Zach, as Themisto, had seen a few knights here and there, and definitely felt them on the edges of his mental radar, but he’d never actually gotten to know one. Most of the people he knew were senshi. Stuffing the last bits of food into his mouth, the young man felt himself incredibly grateful for both the food and the company on such a lonely night. “‘Ey, Fai. Thanks. You’re a great dude. I’m glad to have met you.”
