Gardening - Everything comes down to gardening. Nathaniel's apartment is filled with plants, succulents, flowers, and any other flora and fauna he can manage to fit within a tiny square of space. He has a natural gift for growing things, and is always incredibly enthusiastic about both sharing his knowledge of gardening and also using it to make others happy.
Dog walking - What started off as a side job turned into one of Nathaniel's favorite past times. He volunteers at local animal shelters to walk the dogs and play with the animals, and usually has a great time dragging them all to the park and getting some fresh air and exercise for both himself and the dogs.
Learning - Nathaniel is a naturally gifted person who thinks of learning new things not just as a way to pass his classes, but also something to do to pass the time just for fun. To him, going to the library, researching, reading nonfiction books, and watching documentaries are all good fun, not something he's forced into.

Virtues:

Mild-mannered - It's extremely hard to ruffle Nathaniel. He is hard to make angry and hard to annoy, mostly because he tamps down on a lot of his emotions. His mild-mannered, gentle persona is entirely genuine; Nathaniel is much more of a caregiver and a listener, an excellent person to talk to if you need someone nonjudgmental and easygoing.
Kindhearted - At heart, Nathaniel is simply a kind and generous person with a big heart. He puts himself last, always doing his best to make everyone else feel comfortable and has a strong need to provide support and guidance to anyone who might need it. He is generally a very good person.
Creative - Throw Nathaniel into a confusing, convoluted situation, and Nathaniel is the one who can help come up with a solution. Level-headed and straightforward, Nathaniel's creativity and unique way of thinking and viewing things in front of him has always been a bonus, especially in less-than-appealing times.

Flaws:

Reserved - Sometimes too mild-mannered, Nathaniel is very friendly, but his quiet, polite demeanor sometimes can result in appearing aloof and unfeeling. He doesn't react the same way as others; every reaction is muted, quieter, simpler, which can be off putting to any who are not used to it.
Private - He does not open up easily. Nathaniel's heart is a closed book, and his inability to face his own harder, more painful emotions is a problem. He bottles everything up, to the point where it becomes unhealthy, and eventually the dam will break, and it will be a bad time for all.
Self deprecating - Nathaniel would call it realistic or just dry humor, but his tendency towards self-deprecation can be tiring, even to himself. He doesn't see himself as anything special, and has come to the conclusion that he is just another cog in the wheel. He's not angry about it, or upset about it; instead it seems to be just a fact to Nathaniel, something he has unfortunately come to accept about himself.

Weapon & Magic

Page - An old fashioned tide clock on a chain
Squire - A larger tide clock, still on a chain. Scamander turns the hands of the clock and the opponent will be surrounded by an illusion of a storm that sweeps them out into a rip tide. The effects are only illusory; they will experience a sense of rain, wind, thunder, lightning, and other effects of a storm at sea. This lasts about thirty seconds with a radius of approximately three feet.
Knight - Two medium sized clock hands connected by a chain. Scamander crosses the hands in front of himself and the opponent is immediately blasted back into an illusory storm that overtakes them. It is not painful, unless one is sensitive to the sound of thunder, but it is extremely overwhelming and all encompassing. This lasts about fifty seconds with a radius of approximately five feet.

Summons -- Sharp-shinned hawk - The hawk flaps its wings twice and the sound of thunder cracks out on them, causing a ringing sound in the opponent's ears. This lasts approximately twenty seconds.
