(backdated to after the egg hunt is over)
What a day it had been. Waking up that morning Kathryn had no notion of just how exciting of a day she was going to have. The only plan had in her mind was to have fun at the egg hunt. It meant a chance to get out of the house and actually spend an afternoon wandering around the DCU campus. The added bonus was that if she was serious about attending that this would be a good start in checking out some of the courses that interested her.
Now Kathryn stood in the center of her room looking down at the prize that she had carried home. Luck had been on her side today as she had been one of the top egg searchers. Her gaze travelled along the many jagged but artistic lines of color that made up the pattern on her egg. If she recalled correctly this was the first egg that she had found while searching around the Founder's Statue. Chuckling to herself Kathryn remembered at least some confusion as to how many seemed to have missed spotting the egg until the last minute. It had been right in plain sight and yet no one had seen it.
Now as she traced the lines of color Kathryn scanned the interior of her room. Where was the most perfect place to display the egg in the most logical of places. She immediately ruled out the small shelf above her bed. The idea of having even something that might be slightly hollow roll off and strike her as she slept was not very appealing. Closing her eyes Kathryn visualized her room as it was and mentally checked off other possible locations as being too dangerous. There was the fact that yes she wanted to display the egg in her room but she also wanted to keep it safe at the same time.
Picking the egg up Kathryn walked over to the end table that sat to the left of her bed and gently shifted a few books before gently placing the egg on its side. By moving two books to bracket the egg Kathryn essentially stopped it from rolling around. It's location was tucked into a corner but still visible to others when they would enter her room. Looking around further Kathryn moved one of her stuffed animals to surround the egg from behind. Now the egg was truly secure. Nodding in satisfaction at the sight Kathryn picked up another book that was just recently acquired. Her gaze wavered from between the egg and the book as she judged the display once more. Everything seemed in place. She would probably end up moving the egg once more though as already there seemed to be an issue with the small lamp nearby. Shaking her head at the vision Kathryn rose from her bed and plucked the egg from where it sat. Maybe, just maybe, if it didn't sound too weird she would create a little nest for her prize egg and keep it close to her. Kathryn wasn't afraid that anyone would try to steal her "trophy", not really. But the fear was still there.
