Saran gave a massive yawn as she pushed herself up from the shade of one of the few trees that dotted their new homeland. She had to admit she wasn't sure if the climate was an upgrade, but it was nice to see some green things even if they were in a desert. Hardy plants thrived here and after the rains came beautiful flowers would bloom for a short time before returning to their dormant state. She shook herself a bit before heading off to one of the small watering holes that bordered where their new pride lands ended and the rogue lands began. There was always something exciting going on around this particular hole and she felt like she could use a little wake up call to get her blood pumping.
Much to her delight, as she drew closer to the water, she noticed an unfamiliar face drinking. Well, this was going to be a grand wake up call for him!
"You there! You're within pridal lands," she said with an all too pleasant snarl. He was going to get a lesson taught to him.

Grinsen sighed softly as he approached a small watering hole. The past year or so he'd been living in a pride, and when he had first arrived it had been quite an exciting place to be. There was murder and mystery and mayham afoot, but now things seemed to have been sorted out. The only plus to all this was that he had attracted the attetion of a very outlandish lioness and he was sure that if he could keep her attention a little longer he might just win her over. So far she didn't seem terribly impressed with him, but no one stayed unimpressed over Grinsen for long!
He lowered his head to drink, glad for the little vacation he'd given himself. Pride life did suit him but sometimes he needed to get out and breathe. Having lived a rogue his whole life there were times that called for a little walk-about. He was mid-sip when a voice caught his attention and he lifted his head, spotting a lioness heading his way. Her words didn't quite scare him off, but he did give pause. She was approaching rather rapidly to be friendly.
"Oh....sorry about that," he said with his trademark grin. "I'll just finish my drink and be on my way."

Saran wasn't pleased with the reply from the grey male. Lowering her head, she made her approach quicker, breaking into a trot.
"I didn't say 'when are you leaving', stranger, I told you that you are within pridal lands and that is not tolerated unless you wish to be kept for a slave!" She didn't give him much warning beyond that, pouncing once she was close enough. Saran hadn't seen much fighting as of late - as of ever, really. No threats had ever come to the Nergui beyond the individual lost lion, like the male before her. All of the usual warriors went out to the battles rather than having them come here. That didn't mean she wasn't trained to fight even if she tried to keep herself scar-free to entice more males.

Yup. Definitely not friendly.
"Well now, miss, I'm real sorry about that but it's pretty hot here and-"
Grinsen didn't have time to finish his explanation. The lioness was pouncing at him, claws out, teeth bared, and a look on her face that clearly wasn't up for discussion. He gave a little yelp of surprise and shifted to dart away, curling his tail between his legs so it wouldn't get caught. He scooted away safely, turning quickly so he wouldn't have his back to the attacking lioness.
"Easy, lady," he said, taking one step at a time away from the watering hole and hopefully in the right direction to get out of here. "I'll be out of your hair in a moment, just calm down."

The male dodged her attack, but Saran didn't mind. The less dirty she got during this the better. She'd have a nice little story to impress those back in the pride and perhaps have a few drops of blood on her claws to show for it, but without getting injured in return. It seemed the male didn't have much interest in being attacked either, which was good.
"No," she growled, approaching again at a swifter pace. She needed to chase him a good distance away before being satisfied. "You will leave now and my claws will escort you!" She charged, lashing out with a paw, a snarl on her muzzle. Oh, how proud her mother would be of her!

The lioness still approached and Grinsen tried to back up faster, but it was impossible with the speed that she was approaching.
"Hey, I'm going, I'm going! Just leave me alone and I'll-"
He was cut off as she charged forward, a paw lashing out at him. He barely had time to dodge and he felt the breeze from the powerful strike flash by his face as he ducked and nearly rolled away. He kept close to the ground as he turned to flee, his feet getting caught up in his own paws and the thick sand that he stood in. Time to get the heck out of here! She wasn't playing around!

Saran growled as the male dodged her attack, but only barely. It wasn't quite as satisfying to have a fight that didn't end in blood being spilled, but she'd not turn her nose up to simply chasing the male off. As nice as proof of her battle would be, she really didn't care for getting this filth's blood in her claws.
He turned to flee but was rather caught up, so she went in for one more strike, this time aiming for his rump. A good sting would send him on his way and have him never return.

Grinsen didn't give the lioness much time to react. By the time she was moving in he had found his feet, had dug in, and sprang away. He charged as fast as he could in the direction he had come, focused on the small dot on the horizon that indicated what he hoped would be safety. It was a large rock formation that he had sheltered in during a storm the previous day. He wouldn't be stopping there now, though. He'd keep on going right back to the Mwezi.

Saran missed and got a faceful of tail for her efforts. She scowled but slowed her run to a trot, then a walk, then she stopped completely. Looking after the grey male as he ran, she gave a little snort and her scowl turned into a smirk. Ha...what a weakling. He certainly wouldn't have been very useful here, either as a slave or as a potential breeding male. Certainly not a fighter, either.
Satisfied with a job well done, Saran returned to the drinking hole to get herself some water. All that 'fighting' had worked up a thirst!

Grinsen reached the rock but didn't stop. He couldn't stop. He didn't know if that lioness was behind him still and he certainly wasn't going to look to find out! He passed the little cave and kept on going despite his racing heart and dry mouth. Back home he went, intent on not having another reliving of his glory days for a long time to come.
