While part of the pride of this guild is its structure and free-roam options the
underlying mechanics may be a little confusing, so to help new and old
members alike we will make a 'How to' section that explains key parts and
features of this world! Common questions will also be addressed and
recorded with the answers here so we as a community can grow more
familiar with the story together.

We do ask that members not post in this area but instead take their
questions to the Brainstorming Area, this thread is purely to record
information for quick and easy review.

- How to make a Profile -

We do not mind if you alter the Profile Skeleton itself so long as it clearly
contains the data requested. Want to change up the colors or the format? Go
for it, just keep things neat/readable and try not to stretch the page with
pictures. ( If you are having trouble with this feel free to ask for help or
suggestions, it is what we the crew are here for after all!)

For those of you who use multiple pictures, either for pets or weapons and
the like, please utilize the Spoiler tab offered at the bottom of the profile skeleton.

Now, making a profile is the first step and it should be taken Here in
the Profile Application area. Once you are ready to have your profile
reviewed for approval just send a message to a crew member letting them
know, they'll look it over and either offer a few constructive requests or move it to the
Approved Profiles
section themselves. Please keep in mind that the
review process is for everyone's sake, it isn't to be mean or to hinder your
creativity we just want things to be fair for everyone and still respect the
story/world itself!

- A little about each playable species and their relationships -

Full details are found Here in the Archives.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Elves -
A wild and tribal species the Elves offer an affinity for wild magic. What that
means is, they are good at directing elemental forces through emotion. The
older an Elf gets the more elements they can learn to attune to but it is rare
for even a Elder to utilize more than three. They do not have 'spells', their
power comes from their understanding of the element in question and is
difficult to control. They do have a semi-practiced religion and a monarchy,
but it is a relaxed structure compared to what other species would be used
to. Their home is based in the Lavinan Forest, the capital being Lavinan
City. Yes, they named it the same on purpose to make it hard for outsiders to find.
They are able to produce half-breed offspring with Humans and Orcs.

Relationships -
Humans- Distant, Neither friendly nor hostile.
Orcs- Distant, Neither friendly nor hostile.
Dwarves- Distant, Neither friendly nor hostile.
Centaurs- Distant, Neither friendly nor hostile.
Silurin- Cautious, Respectful.
Grozin- Friendly.
Qaish- Friendly
Uchrit- Independent
Varkim- Distant, Neither friendly nor hostile.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Orcs -

The Orcs are a strong and noble species that even their enemies, the
Dwarves, cannot criticize how powerful their society has become. Native to
the southern coast ( a land of forests, bogs, and swamps ) they have learned
how to meld with the difficult terrain they live in. Known to be warriors that
value honor and family, as they often adopt more children of any species to
increase their house size, theirs is actually a Monarchy centered around the
females of the royal family. They are able to cross breed with Humans and Elves.

Relationships -
Humans- Respectful, Friendly.
Elves- Respectful, Indifferent.
Dwarves- Loathed.
Centaurs- Respected, Friendly.
Silurin- Well respected, Allies.
Grozin- Independent, Indifferent
Qaish- Independent, Indifferent
Uchrit- Independent, Friendly
Varkim- Independent

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Dwarves - --------------------------
Able to cross breed with Humans, they do not seem compatible with other species aside from the adaptive Silurin and frankly that wouldn't create a 'half Dwarf' anyway.

Relationships -
Humans- Distant, Neither friendly nor hostile.
Orcs- Loathed.
Elves- Distant, Neither friendly nor hostile.
Centaurs- Friendly.
Silurin- Thought to be extinct.
Grozin- Distant, Neither friendly nor hostile.
Qaish- Distant, Neither friendly nor hostile.
Uchrit- Distant, Neither friendly nor hostile.
Varkim- Friendly.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Humans - ---------------------------------------
Able to cross breed with Orcs, Elves, and Dwarves.. If ever the odd situation came around for it to happen.

Orcs- Neutral
Elves- Neutral
Centaurs- Friendly.
Silurin- Thought to be extinct.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Silurin -

The Silurin are a elusive and subtle species, their territory fairly isolated and
their wisdom impressive. Native to the Western coast ( a wild place called the
Old Lands ) they learned how to use their technologies to overcome the
difficult terrain they lived in. Classical Architecture had spread wide in this
culture; Aqueducts were developed to take water to the fields of the Capital
city and later utilized as water highways to get around faster. On land
advanced large stone roads were built to allow merchants and supply
caravans to move easily through their territories. Few realized that these
roads also served a second purpose and this stands as a subtle reminder of
the intelligence of the species. With such a simple road system many if not
all visitors traveled them, making it very easy to keep track of what and who
entered or left their lands by the many guards that patrolled them. These
roads also offered faster military deployment, as they later discovered was
necessary.

Known to be Scholars that value Science and Knowledge theirs was actually
a Democratic Government who supported the Arts, Science, and a steady
self-reliant economic system. Now many of their towns and cities are in
ruins, scattered around the continent and thought to be the last bones of the
species itself. The last few villages, and the Capital itself, remain hidden in
the Old Lands. They can reproduce with generally any species but, as listed
above, the resulting child is either pure Silurin or they take after their other
parent's species entirely.

Relationships -
Humans- Curious, Friendly but Distant.
Orcs- Trusted Allies.
Elves- Distant, Neither friendly nor hostile.
Centaurs- Friendly, Distant.
Dwarves- Avoided, Disliked.
Grozin- Curious, Friendly but Distant.
Qaish- Allied, Trusted.

- About the Languages Idrili and Hakir -

I know this is confusing and honestly, even if you have a Dwarf or an Elf, you
don't have to use these languages! I created them for fun and story depth but
they are by no means required. In fact those who use them, myself included,
should give a translation of what is said in the (( O.o.C )) area at the bottom
of their posts to make it easy on people who do not wish to slow down
threads so they can hunt a translation for it. Keep in mind that the only
plausible way someone's character should be able to understand these
languages is if it says in their profile that they can in fact speak it.

Don't be a Muncher guys.

Battle System!

For the most part we will keep to the Honor-System in battle. That means mature, logical actions/reactions meant to move the story along. However, I know, pissing matches can occur at the oddest of times. So our solution is this: In the event a battle cannot be settled we will resort to the dice-roll system, attacks (depending on type) will land or fail based on the numbers rolled by each character. I am going to simplify this as much as possible.

Dice rolling battle style, here at least, will depend on basic math. When a conflict cannot be settled by the Honor system the rp itself will pause, all those active in the battle will roll the dice. The Attacker will go first, his/her number will be the starting point for the others to work off of. The next person will roll, and so on until everyone targeted by this attack has had a turn. Please note that, unless the defending characters are working in unison, their rolled numbers will not be added together and they will individually face the attacker's number in their own equations. If a Attacker is facing more than one enemy in this situation they will get the same number of dice rolls (Adding each roll amount together) as the number of enemies they face. Fighting two people? They will get two dice rolls. If the Attacker's number is greater than the Defender's number it will be considered a successful attack (with a chance of missing). If the Attacker's number is lower than the Defender's number, the Defender has the option to parry or dodge successfully.

We group attack success by: -10 or less of the Attacker's number, the attack missed. -20 or less of the Attacker's number, weak hit. -30 or less of the Attacker's number, normal hit. -40 or less of the Attacker's number, strong hit. -50 or less of the Attacker's number, lethal/ending blow.

Example 1: Before another post is made we pause the rp in question. The (attacker) rolls the dice. He/she scores a 76. The (defender) will also roll the dice as a chance to block/evade the attack. He/She rolls a 70. When the rp resumes after this the attacker's hit will land with light damage. This is because the numbers are so close in value, the greater the distance between the numbers ( Subtract the attacking number by the defending number, in this case 76-70=6) the greater the damage will be.

Example 2: Lets say our Attacker rolls a 57. Our Defender rolls a 80. Because the defending number is higher ( 57<80 ) the Defender will be allowed to Parry or Dodge instead of taking damage. They can then take on the role of Attacker and repeat the process of attacking as explained above.

Sneak Attacks: Stealth attacks will automatically be processed as Dice-Roll combat on the first (official sneak attack) move if it wasn't cleared with the other party before hand. Basic Dice-roll rules (as listed above) will be followed for the victim, giving the stealth attack a chance to hit or be parried fairly. What happens after is entirely up to those participating in the rp, if they resort to Honor-combat or Dice-rolling.. or even if they just settle down for a chat.

Magic: The use of battle-based magic will be treated as a dice-roll before each of the user's posts. It is subject to the attacker/defender dice-roll system as explained above.

Getting Started.

I know many people, myself included, have trouble starting in a new Rp
setting. Stranger-Danger mixed with a unknown environment? For those of
us who love to weave tales with the written word the Unknown can be just as
intimidating as it is enthralling, it can be difficult to reach out. All I can say is
this: You are not alone, each and every one of us has had that moment and
will no doubt feel it many times in our irl/rp lives. You know how hard it is to
be the new person so, hey, reach out and help our newer members settle in
like you would like others to help you! In the spirit of Guildsman-ship we have
a few threads to promote interactions and offer member-to-member quest
creations to fuel group Rps.

------------------------------------------

The first thread is The Party Board. This is the area members in
Out of Character Chat will get together and find people to rp with! Idle
training, exploring, as long as your party mates are on board you can run
from one side of the landmass and back. Romance? Rivalry? Keep to the
guild rules and we'll try not to limit your stories.

--------------------------------------------

The second thread is The Brainstorming Area.
You can even use this area to discuss creating in-rp Guilds/Legions for your
characters to be a part of. Want a order of assassins, their history branching
through the land and lore of a certain species/area like a shadow? Just talk
to your fellow members and once you have a idea panned out bring a crew
member in on it for evaluation. Simple as that, we'll snake it into the world-
lore and your characters can take their rightful places in society.

----------------------------------------------

The third thread is known as The Quest Board and here Rp
Characters can post their own requests for aid. Fetch-quests, monster hunts,
help on a local farm, you name it. At times NPCs, often leaders of different
areas, will put out Bounties or Campaigns to offer a structured group-rp
in motion. Special and unique items, such as Enchanted weapons or tools
( character must mention ownership on their profiles of course ),
can be awarded to participants in these trials. The number of participants
influence the number of reward items, each unique and associated with a
number in advance, and at the end of the campaign members roll the dice
to 'earn' them. Mutual agreement on trading items between characters is fine,
but again mention the new items by updating your profiles or they will not be acknowledged!
