Remarque spent a vast majority of his time in Mirrorspace these days but he was keenly aware of the necessity of energy to keep things running smoothly. He’d only found a small handful of people to drain, but they were already sleeping and so he couldn’t imagine he was doing too much harm. The park was filled with the unfortunates without a place to call their own; Remarque figured it was always best when he just sapped some of their energy. The wraiths seemed to know what to do and he was done and gone in only a few minutes.
It gave him a bit of freedom to spend the next half hour however he pleased; after a day full of work and spending a few hours with his rambunctious daughter, and then heading out afterward to explore Mirrorspace. He deserved a break.
His need for social interaction had him venturing towards one of the more populated areas of the park and, much to his surprise and pleasure, it wasn’t too long before he felt the energy signature of a basic Dark Mirror Senshi. There were mirrors planted in convenient locations around the park and Remarque was grateful that not all of them had been smashed up this month. He was able to pass through one near to him and pass out of one closer to where the signature had appeared on his radar.
While in Mirrorspace, Remarque might have stayed in his Princely form, but here in Destiny City he liked to stay as below the radar as possible. As an eternal, he drew significantly less attention. Intent on making a good impression, even if it was just Kiuchi or any of the other basic Senshi he’d met recently, he brushed out his uniform and began to walk towards the energy signature.Leopleuradon I hope this works, let me know if it needs any changes!

Crocus was out and about again that evening. He was trying to grow a little more independent, though admittedly he still felt a bit lonely wandering around without Acubens by his side. He couldn't depend on her to always be available at the same he was though. So flying solo was better than sitting around at home and being too worried to go out on his own. There were a couple of different spots he liked to roam around, Acubens had helped show him a couple of places mirrors were throughout the city. It was still so strange to walk through one alone though. That night he had popped out in the park. The same park where Acubens had found him.
He was diligently making his way around, looking for some targets for his mirror wraith. It wasn't all that hard of a task, but Jason was still careful not to train any one person too much. He just didn't like the idea of someone passing out and being left in the open like that.
As he was wandering around he felt the presence of who he thought was someone familiar. It felt like Acubens, has she come out looking for him because she was worried about him? A little smile grew on his face, she was like a worried older-sister to him at this point. He started to head toward it, but was a little surprised when it was someone he didn't recognize. Oh, so then, the presence he felt wasn't unique based on the individual? He really needed to figure this stuff out already. At least he could tell they were on the same side.
Crocus gave a little wave, he was still getting used to meeting others like himself. Thankfully he had yet to run into someone in a different Court from himself. He had a feeling that wouldn't go so well with Acubens wasn't with him. "Hello there, you're looking quite colorful this evening." Always start out with a compliment, that was his mantra.

“This evening,” Remarque confirmed, “And every other. I know it’s a bit gaudy but I suppose I’ve gotten used to it after so long. I hope you won’t judge my fashion taste on this. I’m not this much of a peacock in my everyday life, I assure you.”
He seemed like he was a in a good mood and smiled politely before dipping his head in greeting. “It’s always a pleasure to find another Dark Mirror Senshi. I’m usually very good with names and faces, so I can only assume that since I don’t recognize you, we haven’t been properly introduced just yet.”
He continued to approach and offered a hand when he was the appropriate distance away. “I’m Remarque, Dark Mirror Senshi of Puppetry. It’s good to meet you. Have you been at this whole thing for long?”Leopleuradon I'm sorry this took so long ;;

"I'm the last person to judge. I have flowers in my hair right now." Crocus joked as he pointed toward the flower crown on his head. It wasn't like it was much of a choice anyway. If Jason had been able to decide what his super-powered form would be, he definitely would have gone for something a little more cool (and maybe manly) than some flower. So, he definitely wasn't going to judge anyone based on their attire.
"I've been on the job for less than a week actually." He could count the number of powered individuals that he knew on one hand and one of those was a talking cat of all things. As the other Senshi offered out his hand Crocus gave him a firm handshake, but as he heard his name his jaw almost dropped. Remarque! Of all the random Senshi to pump into on one of his first nights out alone it was really him! Acubens had mentioned him a lot in Mirror Space. At first he had just assumed he was a friend of her's in the court, but she had mentioned he was a bit of a big deal later out at dinner that evening.
"Oh wow." Is all he said at first after he let go of the other's hand. "Acubens talked highly of you when she helped to awaken me. I'm Crocus, Dark Mirror Senshi of Saffron." He didn't really know where to begin. He had so many questions and just a general curiosity to get to know one of the leaders of his Court.
"So the crystal in the thorn room. Acubens told me you told her not to ouch it. But she didn't know why. Can I ask what happens if you do? It's just been on my mind since then. You know when you tell someone no...well. Curiosity killed the cat. That might be quite literal in this case...." He still knew so little about his own court, it was probably embarrassing. Not only to himself, but probably the other members of his Court.

Remarque cracked a smile at Crocus’ joke, but it was clear he wasn’t judging the outfit the other Dark Mirror Senshi wore; they didn’t get any say in what uniform they got, and he’d certainly seen other Senshi who were far more unfortunate than either of them.
“Less than a week! Then, I’m lucky to have run into you so soon. You can ask me anything, there are no bad questions. I’m surprised Acubens actually told you not to touch it, though. She’s a bit of a trouble maker, to be honest I’m surprised she hasn’t ‘accidentally’ poked it to see what happens.” He was teasing, lighthearted at least, but he was quick to answer the question as best he could. “No, the reason you shouldn’t touch it is because it’s dangerous. It’s a crystal, and to be honest, probably incredibly unstable. Leto and I—Leto, being a Princess in our Court, but I’m sure Acubens has told you all about her—found it once, a few years ago.”
It was a long story but he didn’t want to bore the Senshi when he’d just asked a simple question; instead, he drew in a breath and tried to think of the shortest way to give the full answer. “Before that crystal, Ares’ crystal used to sit in the throne room. But, she disappeared—and her crystal, along with her. We didn’t think anything much of it until the wraiths turned on us. They were uncontrollable, wouldn’t listen to anyone. It was just dangerous—for us, and everyone in Destiny City. Leto and I got together and wound up finding that crystal.”
He paused. “Well, no. We actually found a giant wraith. So far as we can tell, without the crystal there, all the energy we were gathering had nowhere to go when not collecting into a crystal. So, the energy the Court was gathering was lost to Mirrorspace, or it must have found the next best thing to collect into. We beat the wraith,” he shrugged, like it wasn’t a big deal. Like he and Leto both hadn’t realized they were in over their heads, about to die. Like they hadn’t been thrown through one mirror and spit out with their Royal powers. “And the Crystal was all that was left. We took it to the throne room for safe keeping and the moment we plugged it back into the alter, everything went back to normal. So, the reason it shouldn’t be touched, is because if anything happens to it, maybe we lose control of the wraiths again. Maybe Mirrorspace starts falling apart. Maybe you get a discharge of all that energy and get hurt. Leto and I were Royals when we touched it—I don’t know what it might do to anyone who isn’t capable of handling that power.”
He wasn’t trying to scare the male, but he wasn’t going to keep the answers quiet; it was a good question, and one he didn’t get asked often enough.
“We don’t know how much power that crystal holds, but we do know that we need it to keep our Court stable.”

Crocus really did feel quite lucky to run into Remarque that night, everything that had happened to him in the last week had left him with so many questions. And, as thankful to Acubens as he was for finding him before someone else, she didn't have all the answers he was looking for. But, Remarque? He probably had the answers to most, if not all. Still, he didn't want to take up all his time this evening, so what was most important to ask him now? He listened to him talk about the crystal. The one thing that really caught his attention, aside from the fact that the mirror-wraiths could be very dangerous, was a name. Ares? Who was that? Acubens hadn't made mention of an Ares, or a Leto for that matter He'd have to ask her about Leto later. For now, he wanted to know who Ares was.
"Well, thanks to you both we're okay now. I'll be sure to keep away from that thing. I joined the Court to stay safe, not to do something stupid and get myself killed." Remarque had gone above and beyond in his explanation. He hadn't just told him it was dangerous, he had told him why. It also helped him to understand why he was out there gathering energy, at least in some part.
"No one has mentioned an Ares to me before. Since things went bonkers when she left...Was she the original leader of the Dark Mirror Court? Sorry, I can't help be be curious about...I guess, you would call it our origin story?" He didn't know much about...where any of them came from. Acubens had mentioned that they were all sort of...reincarnations of previous lives. He didn't think Remarque really knew exactly why all of this was happening now, but maybe he could tell him about Ares a bit, she had to be an integral part of the story. Until now, Crocus had just though Remarque was their leader the whole time. He hadn't known there was someone before him, or even that there was another Princess in their court.

Remarque reached up a hand to scratch at his chin contemplatively. “Ares is a difficult creature to define,” he said after a moment. “Technically, she was the original leader, but there are few that ever knew her as that. Leto, Requiem and another Senshi followed her when she first introduced the Dark Mirror Court. They were her allies when they were of the White Moon. She was a Parallel Senshi, trapped in our universe and locked out of her own. Her motivations for the Court were far more sefish—she wanted to recreate her homeland, here. But,” he shrugged. “The flaw in that plan is that all we’re all from this universe. Born on this planet. So I don’t know that anyone was ever as passionate about remaking her Kingdom, here. But her goal was short lived. I joined early in the Court’s creation, not too long after it was formed.”
He shrugged and thought back to the Surrounding; he shaved off details where he could to save time. “I only saw Ares a few times in the next few months. She was distant, aloof. And then, one day, gone. The goals of the Court were originally designed by her, but without her around…we made it our own, I think. We’re free to pursue whatever we think is best. In my case, it’s trying to find a way into space again. Trying to find a place where we can be safe, should the Negaverse succeed in taking over the Earth. But Ares…”
His voice trailed off for a moment and he sighed. “I never got to know her well. I suppose I wasn’t ever really able to consider her a leader. She introduced the Dark Mirror Court to us, and I’m grateful for that, but beyond that…I don’t know. She wasn’t ever around enough to get to know.”

Crocus was hanging on every word Remarque said, he always felt like it was important to know how something started. It often gave insight into where they were going and what they were doing now. It sucked that this Ares person had just up and left them all, had she found some other way to recreate her world? If she just abandoned them selfishly that did suck. If her goals didn't really line up with them, then it might have been a blessing in disguise that she did leave. "Sounds like we might be better off without her." He nodded a bit, but was surprised when the older Senshi mentioned space.
"Do you mean like...going into space without a spaceship? I mean, Acubens explained a bit to me about our past lives and such. But I didn't realize it was possible for us to go to space...." What would happen to the Earth if the negaverse took control? Acubens had mentioned that they used to work together, but that they didn't anymore. She was always telling him to not trust anyone in the negaverse and that was probably safe advise if their whole goal was world domination. "If we do find a way to space, will it only be safe for members of our court? Or could we save others?" You couldn't blame him for being curious. He did have a family after all, even if they did get on his nerves from time to time.
"I've heard a lot about the Negaverse, but very little about the White Moon. What are their goals exactly? Just to get rid of anyone not on their side?" It seemed like they were probably the manga definition of the 'heros' in this case. He didn't think his court was bad though, they seemed to just be working on their own thing. In between the war going on on either side.

Remarque did not disagree when Crocus mentioned they might be better off without her, though he only shrugged in response.
“Senshi and Knights can go into space,” Remarque answered. “It’s some magic, deep inside of them. Though, from what I’ve seen, all their worlds are dead. All wilderness, and the remains of whatever world they left behind. I’ve hitched rides with some of the more open minded of the lot. Truthfully, I don’t place a lot of stock in their worlds; they died once before and they don’t know why. Some of their worlds have monsters, but I think the biggest problem is that they’re just dead. And so far away. The Senshi can only go there every now and then, it’s not a constant back and forth thing. And from what I’ve gathered, they can’t make any stable place to live, which doesn’t line up with what I think we need. So,” he shrugged. “I’ll keep looking into Mirrorspace and hope we can find some answer there. Something to help us.”
It was a dream, but it was one he was working towards. He wasn’t going to rest until it was a reality.
“But. I have friends here on Earth that aren’t in the Dark Mirror Court. I have family. I wouldn’t leave them behind.” He sounded determined; leaving them behind wasn’t even an option. “I care about keeping them safe as much as I care about keeping the Court safe. If we could make things work out, I’d take anyone important to us. If the Negaverse is destroying this world, I’d make room for some Senshi, some Knights, even.”
He shrugged. “Their goals are a little less easy to understand than the Negaverse’s, I admit. There are some that want to wipe out all Chaos, there are some that just want piece, and there are some that don’t know what the hell they’re doing. You can ask as many of them as you meet and they’ll all have a different answer. From what I can gather, though, the general idea is to keep Earth and the people they care about safe. So. I sympathize with them in that aspect, even if I don’t always agree with how they try to do it. They’re a mess, let me tell you. They’re just as likely to tear each other apart as they are to be torn apart by the Negaverse.”

It had to be kind of cool though, to have a solid connection to a life lived so long ago. The thought of running into monsters wasn't very fun, but to be able to explore a whole civilization, that would be kind of cool. Also potentially very sad, depending on what you found there. As cool as it seemed, it was probably better to ust avoid them. There didn't seem to be anything to gain from them, so what was the point even? They seemed like a place to escape to for privacy, but he had his boat and the waves for that.
He was quite happy to hear that Remarque wasn't just looking for some place safe for the court, should something awful happen to Earth. He was looking for a solution for as many people as possible. He didn't really know how long the war had been going on for, if one side seemed to be winning over the other, but he was glad that he had found himself in a somewhat neutral place. A court that was trying to find some way out should a terrible fate befall their home. He hoped Mirrorspace would give them an answer some day, though he was horribly unfamiliar with it himself.
"Acubens did mention that the White Moon were a bit of a mess as well. Looks like I have to thank her for finding me first." Though, he'll admit she had totally freaked her out in the beginning, Remarque had been able to answer most of his looming questions though and he had gotten some insight into his court that was dearly needed. He felt more comfortable in his new skin now.
"Well, I think I've exhausted my built up questions for now, thanks so much for helping me out Remarque. If I have any more questions, I'm sure I can count on you." He'd been quite fortunate to run into their Court's Prince of all people that evening. Kyuseisha no Hikari I figure we can probably wrap this one up! I'm sorry it took ages, the metas and everything super distracted me. orz

Remarque laughed softly and nodded. “If you have any questions, or if you ever need anything, I’ll be here. I’m not very hard to find. It’s good to see new faces in the Court, so don’t ever hesitate to ask. We were all new once, and I’d rather you ask for help than wind up in a situation you aren’t yet equipped to handle. It was good talking with you, Crocus. I’ll see you again soon enough, I’m sure.”
They were small in numbers, but every Dark Mirror Senshi that stayed active was a pillar in their community; he wanted them to be curious, wanted them to be invested.
Wanted them to be okay.
“You have a good night, Crocus, all right? Be safe.”
