The starseed held in Wolfeite's hand was a glowing, golden color relatively reminiscent of his eyes, though slightly duller. For once, he had stripped off his gloves, and the clawed, furred hands were entirely visible, curling protectively around his prize.
He debated snapping it, crushing it, but that would have been a waste. And he didn't want to eat it yet, because there would be no reason to do so, not when there was no hunt to be had at present. He needed to be diligent in keeping up his stores of them, after all.
The figure of a man lay prone at his feet - some wastrel with alcohol on his breath and the stench of drugs heavy about his eyes and mouth, leaving the air around them feeling thick and drowsy. Wolfeite's upper lip pulled back into a sneer of disgust, and he kicked once at the man's limp foot before he stepped out of the alleyway and onto the darkened, dimly lit street of Hazlewood Avenue, in downtown Destiny City.
He thought he felt a power signature nearby, Wolfeite's ears upright and alert, gaze narrowed as he tucked the starseed away into his coat for safekeeping, prowling around another corner, the mask pulled down, teeth sharp and visible in the night air.

Nearly two blocks away, Sailor Dia was enjoying her own sparkly prize. She'd behaved herself, first only taking a few energy orbs from the jerk who'd approached her from his car. He'd offered her a ride, which she happily had accepted - what better way to have a little privacy, anyways? It hadn't mattered that the man experiencing a middle aged crisis clearly had intentions for other reasons of wanting the pinkette in his car... mostly because she'd had her own ulterior motives as well. So there she sat, one leg dangling outside of the black Mustang as she fumbled to keep hold of all three orbs and a glittering starseed. Her greed had ended up getting the better of her, but thankfully with the way the man had parked, his body probably wouldn't find itself discovered for the next few hours. Maybe. Not that she really cared or anything. Hip-checking the passenger door to close it, she turned around and was about to head off when a familiar looking broody figure showed up from around the corner. Well, well. It seemed as if there was a dog on the loose in Destiny City that evening. His skulking came as no surprise, but the long tail that swung behind him did. It had been a while since she'd seen Wolfeite, hearing tales here and there from Tourmaline. She'd figured he'd still be a creepy man to come across... and she wasn't proven wrong, especially with him now holding a General's rank. Cradling the orbs in her arms, she simply smiled and waited for him to approach... after distancing herself from the Mustang, of course. Couldn't put herself in too much of a compromising situation, after all.

He felt the power signature like a homing beacon, bursting into life a short distance away, and stronger than he last recalled as she came into view. Wolfeite slowed his steps, waiting until he could see her fully, but there was no mistaking that vibrant set of curls or that haughty smile that touched her lips as she stood there, clearly not making an effort to leave.
The wings were new, as was her aura. Wolfeite stopped a few feet away, and gave her a deliberate slow look, letting his gaze rake up and down her new uniform, golden eyes tracing the lines before they moved back up to her face. A smile, feral and sharp, tugged at his lips.
"I see it isn't only the other one that got promoted," said Wolfeite lightly.
"Hello, Dia. Long time no see."

"Can't say I spend much time out in the Rift, no." The orbs vanished, squirreled away in a pocket of Negaspace for her to deal with at a later time. The starseed, however, remained in her grasp, sliding gracefully inside the confines of her glove. "But it doesn't seem that hanging around other monsters has done poorly for you, Wolfy." She paused, her head tilting slightly. "I'm sorry - General Wolfy." His gaze befitted his animal counterpart, falling nothing short of predator's stare as he looked her up and down. Fangs were presented in the form of a grin. Hands now free, she lifted them up in mock presentation, her grin growing wry as the gloves extended themselves upwards, allowing him a full view of the "new" her. "Liking what you see, I take it? It's okay to be jealous - not everyone can be as pretty and magical as an eternal senshi, after all."

"That's because your kind isn't welcome in the Rift," said Wolfeite, sounding a touch amused, lips quirking up into a sneer, rather than a smile. His tail flicked behind him, ears pointed straight up and alert as Dia's own gaze returned the one he had just given her.
Wolfy. He made a disdainful noise in the back of his throat, Wolfeite resisting the urge to roll his eyes, but for once he let the absurdly unfitting nickname go in favor of giving Dia another look. Her power signature was pulsing, pushing towards him; he wondered how long she had been like this, how long he had been working on his own, so that he no longer knew what the others did.
He left you, said a voice inside of his head.
He doesn't want you.
You are better than him.
The thoughts were pushed aside. Wolfeite let out a harsh laugh.
"Eternal what? There's nothing to be jealous of, princess, though I suppose I could put in a good word for you, should you decide you want to be more than just a meat shield for the Negaverse," Wolfeite drawled. He took a step forward and tugged on one of her curls, an intrusive and proprietary thing that was deliberate.
"What else have you been up to, Dia?"

Not welcomed? Her? Well it wasn't like she wanted to go to the Rift anyways. Hmph. His eyes were roaming again and she could feel them on her. Beady yellow irises that took in every detail of her new uniform, her bow and curls all the way down to the pearls wrapped around her ankles. Tourmaline hadn't mentioned how unsettling his new appearance had been - only that he'd decided to embrace his inner monster and in turn had begun to look like the youma he'd merged with. There wasn't time for any more thinking, not when he was closing in the space between them and addressing her. Her nose wrinkled at the mention of meat shield. What horrid imagery, especially coming from someone who had a tail now, of all things. As the curl was toyed with, she suppressed the urge to scowl. He didn't deserve to know that he was irritating her - he wouldn't be given the honor. The response he received was haughty, the twenty-two year old making sure to tilt her chin up as she answered. " Working, of course. It's no fun, just sitting back and depending on my good looks to get everything I want." Her hand moved out, mimicking his bold movement by tugging on one of his dark locks, smirking as she returned, "And you?"

He knew how much it probably grated on Dia's nerves that the Rift was one of the few places that would not bode well for her, and took extraordinary pleasure in rubbing that in her face, deliberately. No one had said Wolfeite was a good person, even with the people he worked with regularly.
He was making her irritated, and that was a good thing. Wolfeite's grin was a feral thing in the dark, all white, sharp teeth.
"Oh, is that what you call whatever it is that you do?" he asked, a lazy tilt of his head to the side indicating that Dia's definition of work likely differed from his own. "I would have thought that your standing around and looking pretty was all that you ever did."
His head jerked, just a little, at the hand that reached up to tug on his own hair, the corner of his lip curling up into an involuntary sneer. It was too close to his ears for comfort, which had flattened downwards at the gesture, his gold eyes fixed on Dia's face.
"Also working," he said, with the faintest hint of a growl to his already low voice. "Recruiting. It may interest you to learn that I have a corrupt of my own now, working for me."

She noted his ears flattening, which only served to strengthen her confidence at the thought of rattling the puppy in front of her. She moved to distance herself from the General, heels clicking slowly against the pavement as she began to circle around him. Mindful of his twitching tail, she kept her sights on the man himself, lest he try anything else outside of hair pulling. "Oh is that so? Makes sense, you finding someone else to do your dirty work for you. Who's the lucky lady; someone I know?" Tourmaline hadn't mentioned Wolfeite had recruits. It... it made sense, sure, but where were her recruits in all of this? Why did the Negaverse deem it unfit for senshi to be able to corrupt people??? It wasn't fair! "Besides... what makes you so busy that you have to resort to underlings doing the work for you? Too busy playing fetch, puppy?" Her hand slipped under the glove and tugged free the starseed she'd been keeping safe. Dangling it in front of her, she gave the half-youma a mocking voice as she returned, full circle, around where he stood. "Does the good boy wants a little star seed treat?"

He breathed a little easier as she stepped away, Dia's curls shifting like ribbons with every movement. As much as he would have liked to think of her otherwise, Dia wasn't stupid; she had a knack for snark and sarcasm that Wolfeite grudgingly appreciated, but the rest of it made him annoyed simply by her presence.
He didn't care for her sense of justice at all.
"No one that you will know," said Wolfeite, but his lip curled with amusement. "And yes, he does do work for me; he's an asset to what I already can do, it simply streamlines the work when there is someone else to work with that doesn't have the same skills as I do."
Kamacite was quiet in some respects, but he was capable in others. Wolfeite's gaze flickered towards Dia again, a hard line of anger beginning to grow across his expression at the starseed he could see in her hand, at the taunting.
It was deliberate and mocking. Wolfeite let out a growl of barely concealed irritation.
"I am not your dog," he said roughly. "I am no one's dog anymore. I fight my own wars."

His angry snapping had her laughing, one hand covering her mouth as the high pitched giggles lit up the otherwise silent night around them. They were a little more forced than she'd care for them to be - her mind was more focused on the other information he'd revealed and not the fact she'd instilled more irritation between his furry dog ears. The good, hairy General seemed to have found some direction in life. She'd done her job with collecting her quota - more or less - but as far as actually progressing herself in the Negaverse.... well, she'd done little more than sit and wait around for a General who may or may not return. In essence, behaving like a faithful dog herself. And that crawled under her skin far more than his attempt at making fun of her prissy ways. The laughter died and her eyes narrowed as the smirk lingered. "You know, as lovely as it is to see you again, sweetheart, I'm afraid I've got far more better things to do than play with strays. And besides..." Offering him a wink, she clapped her hands together and tilted forward, as if about to whisper a secret to the other Negaverse agent. "... I'm more of a cat person, myself." Her hands unwrapped and one rose to press against her lips, pulling back in a mock kiss in his direction. "Ta ta, darling." With that, she was gone, finding refuge elsewhere so she could stew in peace.
