She had come upon the scene at the power plant by chance, once the bright white flare or order exploded over her senses along with flickering auras of a general and an eternal on their side. A clever woman, she had slipped into the shadows and powered down, more apt to observe everyone fleeing from the shadows, blue eyes bright in the darkness of the alley she hid in.

Once she was certain that no one remained, she resumed her guise of Stellerite and talked forward purposely, shoulders squared and hands behind her back, fingers flexing and ready to summon her kavars if any stragglers remained behind.

The place was empty, the skeleton of something that reeked left behind, melted flesh pooling by sparking wires.

"This will take weeks to repair," she commented idly, letting her voice echo back to her from the concrete walls of the broken building she stepped through.

A lone youma lingered, red eyes blinking at her as the shut in succession. "Do you know what happened?" She asked the bird, refusing to be unnerved by it.

"Reaper rose, survived the rabbit hole, he did. Find Alice. Tell her." It chattered at her, beak clattering before it seemed to melt downward and disappeared from her senses.

Sighing, she tugged off one of her gloves to examine her nails instead. While she didn't know who the youma was speaking of, she knew this was something of interest to her general.

When she left, she had fished out her crystal. "Calling Ascendant-General Alkaid, requesting a meeting within three days time from Captain Stellerite."

Assured that her messaged was received, Stellerite moved on to do more recon.

The more she learned, the more her general would have to work with.

Who was the reaper and who was Alice?

As always, Alkaid had been deep in the rift when the signal came through. Stellerite’s voice chimed clearly through the communicator and she pursed her lips where she stood, shrouded in a thick mist and looking for a shadow that kept eluding her. Annoyed, but with her eyes still glued to the slippery target, she fished her crystal out for a simple response:

        “Heard.”

Three day’s time found her standing in a bare, stone meeting room of the Negaverse subspace. There was a fire crackling in the hearth that seemed to have completely enamored her, drawing her gaze in a way that said the flames had thrown her head over heels in the depths of her own mind. There was little knowing how long she’d actually been there, standing, staring at the dancing oranges and golds. Time had a way of slipping through her fingers and she typically showed up either too early or too late for most of the meetings she arranged these days.

She was here, this time, before her loyal Captain.

There was nothing different about her, not that there ever was, but in one hand she was holding something that seemed altogether out of character. A crisp, new journal was held in the palm of one hand and pressed lightly into her upper thigh where she lingered, waiting. The colors seemed much more suited to the woman on her way to meet the Ascendant General than it did for the general herself.

How she had acquired it, well, that was certainly a story.

There hadn't been a formal time decided for their meeting but Stellerite was unconcerned about that little detail. Alkaid would come and be there waiting for her, or, she would arrive and wait for her general. It was really quite simple and the captain had cleared her schedule appropriately to account for that.

Her heels clicked on the stone leading up to the meeting room and she did her best to emulate her general's walk when she entered the room.

Rey meant King, King meant royalty and Stellerite was determined to carry herself in such a manner that conveyed such. A small, pale hand pushed the door open and she stepped inside, observing how the ascendant watched the flames and took notice of the journal in her hand.

"Miss Alkaid," she said quietly, clearing her throat before she address the not-quite-human woman. "General Alkaid, I hope I did not keep you long." Blue eyes flickered over to the fire and she wondered if the woman felt any warmth from it at all. "Something...happened on the surface world."

She paused to chew on her thoughts. "A power plant was attacked by what I believe was a Greater Youma." She had never seen one in person herself, it was difficult discern what it truly was.

But...what else would leave remains behind?

"And a youma lingered...said they were looking for Alice." That had been the most confusing thing.

There was only a minute change in the General's stance to indicate that Stella's presence was noted at all, not more than a fraction of a turn so that she could hear her better and a shift of her fingers where they curled tightly around the journal. Stella had been chosen for her ability to read people, to deal with Alkaid's distance without perceiving it as anything other than her own nature. It was a small blessing to cease her need to overact in the presence of others - Stella was a rare gift in that regard. Perhaps not irreplaceable but very, very close to.

Her Captain's words flowed through Alkaid's thoughts even when she remained largely unresponsive, until she voiced her opinion of the greater youma. It made her eyes narrow on the flames and her mouth curled down at it's corners, bringing back the first semblance of presence to her eyes. Suddenly her thoughts were not the aimless wondering musings of a creature with too much time and endless questions of the purpose of existence but instead the quick, curious calculations of Alkaid's memories.

She had not encountered a greater youma on the surface since before her Ascension, since Tanzanite.

Yet even that connection was not what finally spurred her to motion, it was instead the simple, silly name.

Alice.

The woman, if she could even claim the title any longer, spun on her heel so quickly that her dreads whirled in an arc around her legs. The bright eyes narrowed their attention completely upon Stella now, intent and serious.

"What else did the bird say, Captain?"

Observing Alkaid was always a challenge, one that Stellerite rose to with excellency. The ascendant didn't display emotions if she didn't view it necessary and even then, her recruit could see the facade for that it was. As such, she responded properly and accordingly.

Alkaid commanded her respect and gave her loyalty and trust in return. The blonde was smart enough to know that was not something her general offered to anyone. In fact, she knew it had been extended solely to herself and the missing General the star themed corrupt had come to her seeking answers for. Epidote had been enlisted at Stella's request and that reason alone.

While she spoke, blue eyes flicked over the seemingly contemplative expression Alkaid wore. She seemed neither distant nor present and while the captain gave her her full attention, she could see that it was not returned. Were it anyone else, she would have been annoyed, but this was Alkaid.

Alice, earned a reaction and amusement slid across pale pink lips before her expression shifted back to something more neutral.

"Something about the reaper surviving the rabbit hole." Even now, despite her investigation into the power plant incident she had come up short. It was aggravating, none of her sources being able to supply her with anything despite her smooth talking. She stopped to think about the exact words before speaking again.

"Reaper rose, survived the rabbit hole, he did. Find Alice. Tell her." She repeated, word for word.

After all, Stella never forgot the little details.

Alkaid had not missed the flash of amusement in the other woman and, had she cared less about the message Stella had to deliver, she might have praised the recognition she saw in the captain’s eyes. There was nothing in that moment more important than the words that passed her tinted lips.

Reaper Rose.

The Ascendant General drew her brows down over eyes that had regained a bit of their distance, mulling the three syllables over and over in her mind. It wasn’t so much that she didn’t understand but, rather, that she was almost in disbelief of having heard them at all. Stella was relaying something with more importance than she really understood - she had no reason to know the connection the raven had to her or the significance in the fact that it had known to Stella, of all people. That youma was playing a game that she couldn’t knock him for, not when it was playing into her hand right at that moment.

“General Labyrinthite has returned,” her eyes were calm as they stared across the space between them but there was a notable shift in her shoulders. It was an uneasiness that drew them tight, spurred by a sudden fight against the urge to leave. She and Stella had other matters to attend to - she could find him, after.

A crackled hand held out the journal she had been clutching while the other slid to the small of her back, tucked behind her torso.

“I have written several names in this. I need you to find as much information about each of them as you can and return it to me. I’m becoming.. forgetful with my age.” Her lips quirked just a fraction over words that sounded like a joke but for anyone that knew Alkaid at all, it was clearly truth. “Some of them may be alive but others I very much doubt.”

Standing in silence was not one of Stellerite's favorite past times, but she saw the concentration and...concern? No, surprise that flickered across Alkaid's face and she forced herself to be patient despite the nearly overwhelming desire to pry for information. Being on the other end of the game was frustrating to say the least and if she respected her general any less, it would have shown in her expression.

But, as always, Stella presented herself exactly how she felt she should for the situation.

Finally her companion was speaking, relaying the information she so desperately wanted to know. This time, it was her who was surprised and her pale brows lifted, lips forming a small oh at the realization of what she'd been told. "I've only heard of him," she admitted, recognizing that she'd entered the game around the time the man had disappeared if that star senshi was any indicator of how long he'd been gone.

"Well," she said slowly, contemplatively, "that explains the mess then." Men were always so dramatic after all.

Directing her attention towards the offered journal, the captain took it carefully. "Yes, ma'am." She replied, taking a moment to open it and scan over the list of names. Some she had an inkling of recognition for, but most of them were new. She had her work cut out for her.

"If I may be so bold," she started, watching the ascendant's posture carefully, "what do you plan to do now that he's back?"

The joke sparked a small quirk at the corner of Alkaid's lips that was entirely for Stella's benefit, giving the General an air of amusement for just a moment. All things considered, her Captain was one of the few people whose presence was almost always entertaining and she, under normal circumstances, took great pleasure in watching the woman as the cogs ticked quickly in her mind. Amber eyes settled on the blonde while she scanned the list of names she would find mostly unfamiliar to her, and Alkaid found herself wondering what Stella made of them or where she might even think to start.

"I intend to ask him for help," she began, taking a few languid steps forward towards the other woman, "right after I figure out what in Metallia's grace he has been doing for so long." She paused as she reached Stella and raised her hand to the journal splayed open in the woman's hands, pointing a single finger at the name atop her list.

Nemesis.

"Start with her. I don't think she's around Destiny City any longer but I would very, very much like to know where she has gone." When her hand fell away from the page, it rejoined her other at the small of her back. She squared her shoulders and leveled one last look on her subordinate.

"Is there anything else before I go?"

Stellerite wondered what could be gained, or rather, what was ahead if Alkaid intended on meeting with the previously missing general and ask for help. It seemed like a silly idea, considering the damage and destruction he had caused upon his return, but Alkaid had been in the game much longer than her protege. She knew things about the mysterious general that the captain did not.

"I will see what I can do to facilitate a meeting then," she offered. The woman figured that all she had to do was drop the rumor that one, Labyrinthite was back if others didn't already know, and two, Ascendant-General Alkaid was looking for him. Everyone else would do the work for them, if she started with the right people.

Blue eyes flickered to the name a pale finger pointed at. "Of course, general." It was a name she didn't recognize, but she'd start with the database and make her way through the contacts she had. If they failed her, she would find new ones.

"No ma'am," she replied, snapping the journal shut and holding it at her side. There was a split second of hesitation before her lips curled upward in the barest hint of a smirk. "Good luck with him." Was her parting words, before she took her leave with permission.
