Zach was completely out of his element, feeling both self-conscious and incredibly vulnerable. His swim trunks from about eight years ago no longer fit and he had to purchase new ones (and he did, the trunks being a particularly familiar shade of dark green). While he'd gotten quite a bit more exercise than he normally would due to the whole superhero-with-magical-powers thing, the boy was still somewhat skinny when it came to men of his height and age. And the flat-as-a-board a** certainly wasn't doing Zach any favors. Anxo had promised to not only swim with him, but to construct a regimen for the two of them for exercise and muscle-building. What Anxo didn't know was that Zach could float and maintain some forward momentum, but Michael Phelps he was decidedly not. The thought of embarrassing himself in front of Anxo and whoever else might be at the pool was mortifying. Zach had deluded himself into thinking he 1) had a reputation and 2) had to maintain said reputation. With a sigh, he stood sheepishly at the very far end of the pool, the lane furthest from the locker room, and waited. Anxo would be there soon, or so the boy thought. He could have sworn he'd gotten the time right...

Anxo hadn't mean to end up running so late for his day out with Zach. Between the setting up of the new shop with his parents to the upcoming final exams his mind was all sorts of over the place. By the time Noon rolled around he wasn't even out of the house yet! In a flash he was out of his work clothes and into his swimming trunks and t-shirt then bolted right out the door!
Luckily his little tiny apartment was right around the corner from the school so he was there in a matter of minutes and truly hoped he didn't leave his friend hanging too much! He truly did love the pool. It was certainly his home away from home and no where else in the world made him feel more at peace than just lounging about the water.
Except maybe cuddling up with Arian every now and then.
When he DID arrive at DCU's big ol swimming pool, he saw Zach and did his best to sneak up behind him with a mischievous grin. Sure he was supposed to be here to set them up to work out but.... There was no harm in teasing the other juuuust a little bit, right?
Once he was sure that Zach wasn't paying any attention, he quickly ran his fingers up and down Zach's sides with a stifled laugh.
"Boo!"

"AHHH ********' HELL!!" came an exceptionally loud shriek. Zach teetered on the edge of the pool and almost fell in, whirling around to reveal a shocked and embarrassed face. "DUDE. You swam here before! Didn't you read the sign? It says NO HORSEPLAY." The boy was fuming, but more out of embarrassment than actual anger. He was already self-conscious enough standing around people who were aspiring professional athletes and veteran swimmers with muscle to spare. He didn't usually hang around without a shirt on, either. He only showed up to swim at Anxo's insistence, and this is how Anxo decided to say hello!?The nerve! "Just... whatever." Zach sat down on the edge of the pool, dipping his feet into the water. Thank goodness it was heated. If it wasn't specifically listed on the rules board, Zach would be considering yanking Anxo into the pool himself. Not only was he ashamed of being taken by surprise, now Anxo the a*****e was going to see firsthand that Zach wasn't the best swimmer, either. This day was turning out to be horrible.

Yikes.... Anxo certainly hadn't meant to get such a reaction from his friend. Okay, maybe he did, but the expression was far angrier than he had expected. It had been some time since Anxo had a good friend to hang out with and eased back just a bit too much into his casual horseplay... Maybe it wasn't quite the time to do so just yet.
"Hehe... I'm sorry Zach. I guess I just can't read very well huh?" He muttered sheepishly, finding himself embarrassed too for having been scolded like that infront of the other swimmers who knew his face. But just like a duck, it slid off his back pretty quickly and he was in the water in an instant, lingering near Zach's feet.
"It's nice and warm.... Well, not warm, but not icy cold atleast. Come on in, I won't bite.. And I'm sorry, I am... I won't do it again. "

Cupping his hands in his armpits, Zach slowly slid into the pool with Anxo. He couldn't help but be very self-conscious of his lack of defined muscle next to all these experienced swimmers. It showed in his face, with the blush creeping across his features. He waded slowly out to Anxo in the middle of the swimming lane. "...yeah, it's not too bad." he admitted, keeping his arms near his flimsy pecs. Would swimming really improve his body so he'd look like the other swimmers. "At least it's not super cold. I just uh... yeah." Zach looked down at the water and clearly wasn't sure where to start. "...uh... Anxo? Whaddu we do now?"

Anxo, himself, had no qualms about the state of his body. He was leaking confidence, if only because when it came down to it he didn't really care about what shape his body had. He was proud of all of his features, whether it was the curve of his bottom or the beauty marks dotting his face. Though, he wouldn't lie, he put alot of work into perfecting his swimming technique so the shape that came along with it was only natural.
"See, what I say? Almost downright cozy." To prove his point, he leaned back, allowing himself to float a few seconds before righting himself, making sure his long hair was tucked up underneath his swim cap.
"Hrm...? Well, we swim of course." He paused, then eyes went wide. "Oh, do you know how? I probably should have asked... But I thought I did ask.. Maybe I didn't? That's not a problem though! I can totes teach you, that is, if you trust me after how terrifying I was."

Zach looked like a combination of embarrassed and uncomfortable. Being surrounded by confident, buff swimmers and Anxo, who oozed confidence himself, Zach seemed like a fish out of water. Figuratively. He worked diligently to appear like he knew what he was doing, but in practice, he obviously didn't. He shuffled forward through the water, towards Anxo. "I uhh..." he started, looking enviously towards the swimmers in the other lanes, graceful and powerful in the water. "...yeah it's uhh... it's been a while..." Wandering towards Anxo slowly, he whispered when in hearing range. "So uhh... what's the stroke you gotta do to get, you know, super buff? That's the one I wanna do. I uhh... I got someone I wanna impress, you know?"

"Don't worry about it, Zach, I got you. There will be no drowning on my watch! Only drowning in the swarms of hot people who will be gawking your way when you get buff, promise!" Anxo couldn't help but find the way Zach moved about, shuffling through the water rather adorable. It was bad, sure, that he was uncomfortable but he knew from experience no one was actually looking at them. Swimming wasn't the kinda sport you stare at people while doing, since you'd be likely to hit a wall if you tried.
Then, he frowned.
"You know you're not gonna get SUPER buff doing this, right? Swimming is lean muscle, firm but not bulky, like mine." He grinned, then flexed his arm. While not incredibly standing out, it was there, and it was strong. "Ooh, you're gonna impress someone? Nawww, don't worry about impressing me, Zach, You know you're already handsome in my eyes~"
Anxo never really understood why, but it was fun to flirt with people, seeing cheeks turn red or getting flustered looks from those who weren't expecting it. Maybe that's why he adored teasing his own boyfriend playfully and watching his face light up like a Christmas tree... Ah, but those looks were only for him and him alone.
In the next moment, his voice became much more serious, hiding his stirn look behind a bit of water stretches and exercises. "Besides, if that person really likes you, they shouldn't be like 'oh, you're so skinny' and all that. If they are so superficial, they aren't worth your time. Let them fine someone who fits their tastes and you find someone who makes you feel good about yourself."
Being serious never truly went well with Anxo's general personality and outlook in live so as soon as he said his words he was back to his grinning self, giving Zach a strong but not stinging pap on the back.
"Anyways, what DO you remember? Can you atleast float?"

One Zachary Calloway huffed and rolled his eyes, arms still deep in his armpits to cover his less-than-impressive pectorals. "The swarms of gawkin', sure, that'll do over people makin' fun of me for bein' too skinny. I mean... yeah, I know I ain't gonna be all firefighter beefcake with swimmin' but... any muscle's better than no muscle at all. Tch." His extreme self-consciousness was incredibly evident and Anxo had already picked up on it long ago. "I don't think she's superficial. Like... real down on herself, but I don't think she'd dump me for lack'a biceps. At least, I hope not." The last bit was mumbled as Zach turned away, an uncharacteristically introspective look flashing across his face for a moment. Then, it was gone. The whap to the exposed skin of his back earned Anxo a return-fire raspberry. "I can do like... the this one," He made a breast-stroke motion without knowing its name, "...n' doin' the backstroke n' floatin' n' stuff. You mean, like that? What's the best way to start trainin' and gainin' stamina and all that? I mean, if I gotta do dis s**t a couple'a times a week, better be efficient. Right?" Sure, sure, just... keep talking as if you know what you're talking about. Yeah.

"Hrm.... Either way. For what it's worth... I think you are more than handsome... You're excitble and fun to be around and any girl would be lucky to know that they have your attention. As long as you're not a creep about it. ... You're not a creep, right?" While he initially started off serious, his gaze relaxed and he grinned, giving Zach's butt a small pinch and poke before laughing and swimming out of his reach before he managed to get whacked.
"We're gonna get you up and swimming all of the different strokes, just you watch! It will be amazing and you will look stunning. So... Have a bit of confidence, okay? And don't worry. I'll be here for you every step of the way." That said, Anxo got close again, hands coming about to Zach's shoulders to give them a little squeeze before starting his lesson.
Lucifer Force Short, sweet, and to the point! End tag for me so no more *sadness*! biggrin
