Kept you waiting, huh? Welcome, one and all, to the 2017 Snag Cup! So grab those Pokeballs and get ready to battle! Unlike previous tourneys, we'll be using one of the ingame rulesets this time around, specifically the VGC 2017 rules. These can be downloaded in the Festival Plaza and will be required. The exact rules for this can be found below, as well as the tournament's format as usual.

----

Battle Format:

VGC 2017 Rules: Double Battle, minimum of four (4) Pokemon per team, Alola Pokedex only. Pokemon Sun or Moon must be used to participate. Bracket is Double Elimination, but may be subject to change.

----

Rules:

1. All participants must sign up on the tourney's Challonge page (go here), and must have a Challonge account as a result. Don't worry, it's free. Checking in is also required and may be done starting two days before the tourney begins, to make sure those who enter will be available. Participants may be contacted through either Challonge or Gaia for battles. Friend Codes must be put in your name within the Challonge bracket.

2. Only Pokemon from the Alola Pokedex may be used. Any Pokemon that is normally unobtainable in Pokemon Sun/Moon are not allowed under any circumstances, including transfers from Pokemon Bank. Likewise, Pokemon must be caught or bred ingame and bear Alola's region mark. Nicknames are allowed, but must not be the same name as another Pokemon species (for example, an Unfezant named "Pidove" ). All Pokemon will be set to Lv. 50.

3. The following Pokemon may not be used: Zygarde, Cosmog, Cosmoem, Solgaleo, Lunala, Necrozma, Magearna, and Marshadow. Furthermore, no two of the same Pokemon species may be used.

4. Mega Stones may not be used, but all other hold items are permitted, including Z-Crystals. However, no two of the same hold item may be used.

5. Hacked or otherwise altered Pokemon outside of the game's normal means are strictly forbidden and are cause for immediate and permanent disqualification. As per the VGC rules, this also includes items, moves and abilities that wouldn't be available or possible without obtaining them ingame or through an official distribution or event.

6. Battles will have the following time limits: 90 seconds for team preview, 45 seconds per turn, and 10 total minutes of "player time."

7. Battle Teams are untethered, and thus not locked. However, all participants must submit a "Team Sheet" prior to the tourney's start. This must include the Pokemon you plan to use, as well as their hold items, abilities and moves exactly as they appear in their summary, and this team must be used for the entire tourney. Battle Videos must be saved and made available as soon as the match has concluded. These are to be submitted to a third party, who will be disclosed once found.

8. If both players' last Pokemon are knocked out during the last turn of the match, the player whose Pokemon faints last will be the winner of said match. If the moves Self-Destruct, Explosion, Destiny Bond or Perish Song were used, however, then the user of those moves will be considered the first to faint and the player will automatically lose.

9. Have fun, be a good sport, and play by the rules set forth.

So... much as I dislike being the bearer of bad news, but due to extremely low participation and the few participants not being a guarantee, the Snag Cup has been canceled. Something that was planned to be unveiled with the tourney's start will still be unveiled at the end of this month or the beginning of July. As for the Snag Cup itself, it will either be done at a later time or attempted again next year with Ultra Sun/Ultra Moon. This thread will be deleted in a few days.

I'm deeply sorry.
