Name ▼ Xelannis Ghevont Stage ▼ Acolyte Race ▼ Yaeli Gender ▼ Male Current Age ▼ 19 Career ▼ Priest
Prentice Description ▼ There is little to be said of any special note, regarding Xelannis' appearance. He is a teen of average height and thin build, with nothing to speak of in terms of scars, blemishes, piercings, or tattoos. His skin is a mid-rage, dull tan, and his hair is a 'pretty' violet tone, slightly wavy, and kept short and proper such that it requires little upkeep. For the most part, this sums up Xelannis' stature and demeanor: proper, unless incited toward something else. Dark crystals ring around his throat in a 'choker,' and there is a smattering of black rocks across each of his hands. He also has the customary 'droopy' ears, black sclera, and glowing irises of his race.
Acolyte Description ▼ Besides being a year older and a hair's breadth taller, Xelannis is no different than previously. He's grown his lightly waved violet hair out enough that he can tie it into a loose horsetail and has adopted the practice of carrying more symbols of his faith, now that he has been extricated from his family. Otherwise, there is little of note about him that sets him apart from any other Yaeli.

1. Patient 2. Judgemental 3. Straightlaced
Positive ▼ As a young child, Xelannis proved to be generally nonconfrontational. Even though he had specific ways of doing things, and never enjoyed others acting in ways that would disrupts his habits, his earliest years attending Yaeli classes pre-Sanctum showed him that people are innately cruel toward those that aren't like them, and one lone outcast has no power against the masses. Because of this, he tries to understand how others think and process things and avoid doing anything that would make him stand out, at least in public. Within the Sanctum’s walls, he’s a little more obvious with his distractions, as he considers the people around him to be ‘just like him,’ and less likely to be offended by any of his obsessive tasks.
While there are many things that could distract him naturally, if Xel ever truly sets his mind to a job or activity that he finds worthy of his attention, he will focus on it until perfect completion. Xelannis has never been one to rush. He is a deliberate boy, who does things in a methodical, intentional manner. This makes general progress slow, but the results of his tasks, at least in his eyes, are usually worthwhile. Things worth his dedication are things worth doing properly, and he’s adopted an easygoing stance in relation to how long it takes others with their activities as well.
For the most part, he does his best to get along with people. He is inquisitive and curious about strangers and their lives and jobs, but he will back off if his line of questioning becomes offensive. Xelannis is not innately a giving man, but because of his position, he will deliberately make the conscious choice to go out of his way and assist wherever he can, though he usually finds such duties less interesting, and it is difficult for him to devote his focus to them.
Negative ▼ First and foremost, Xelannis has taken up the habit of mentally ‘segregating’ people into certain classes. His peculiarity involves arranging others in any given group (his family, his church, his school, his Sanctum peers) in order of how he most appreciates them, written down in a small, handheld notebook. His favorite shape is a pyramid, and it is one he has taken to using for the task. The people he likes the least, or the people who are most unremarkable or ‘unspecial’ are at the bottom of his pyramids. Those he is generally unfamiliar with or has no strong opinion on are one tier up, and the higher a person is to the top, the more he likes and ‘understands’ them. Xelannis is never in his pyramids. They are reserved for others.
Because of his surface-level inquiries and detached approach to learning about others, he easily jumps to conclusions about what is mainstream and acceptable. When he comes across two people that have similar notes and placement in his notebook, he likens them to being essentially the same person, with the same thoughts and feelings regarding everything. This leads him to assume things about others and then also push his own interpretations of their feelings onto them.
His perfectionist and presumptuous nature leads him to perform poorly with group tasks and activities, particularly when faced with a group ‘leader’ who has differing ideas than his own. He isn’t one to cause a fuss and will retreat if he notices that tensions are growing, but until that time, Xelannis will push and push and push until he either has his own way or is snapped at. He is likely to quit projects with people he can’t get along with, even if they were once important to him.

Youngling ▼ Mikeya Ghevont and Meroll Winsenta had no intention of falling in love. She was nothing more than a tailor’s daughter from Pajore, taught to be mindful and wary of anything and anyone that she was unfamiliar with. He was an explorer with no family of his own, eager to test himself against anything the jungle wilds could throw at him and bring all of its treasures back to his city. They knew each other only in passing, at first. Mikeya could mend clothes, and Meroll’s many adventures meant many ripped trousers.
As time wore on, they became more familiar with each other’s routines, and steadily enough, Mikeya began to want for the time when the young, stupid man she’d grown fond of would return from his adventures. To this day, Meroll still traverses the island of Yael, seeking out items of value. But whenever he lands in Pajore, he finds himself in Mikeya’s bed. The pair are exclusive, even if Meroll is frequently absent, and each time he returns to her, Mikeya comes to be with child.
Xelannis was her first.
Although he has primarily lived in a single-parent household, he is familiar with his father, and Meroll’s efforts have funded almost anything Xel and his eventual siblings could want. They aren’t rich and have no expansive home within the city limits, but the house they do have, just outside of Pajore, was always enough for their still-growing family.
In his youngest years, Xelannis spent as much time as he could ‘building.’ He learned of his favorite shape and could craft it out of anything set before him. Once his younger siblings came of an age to be a nuisance to his building, he learned patience and tolerance. Since he was six, he attended school with a small sampling of Pajore’s children and learned to read, write, and many practices to keep himself safe within his island home. By the time he was eight, the other students had taken note of his peculiar building rituals, and because of that, so did his teacher.
She provided him a notebook to help ‘making pyramids’ easier, though even this practice didn’t go unnoticed.
Like many Pajore residents, the family ritualistically attended church to seek out the blessings of their gods. One such session led a priest to discover Xel’s peculiar writing habits, and it was deemed ‘peculiar enough’ to merit starting him on the path to becoming a priest.
Prentice ▼ Since that time, Xelannis has spent nearly a decade learning and practicing the rituals of the gods and devoting himself to the study of the Yaeli religion. The Sanctum has become his home, and whether he intended it or not, there is time for little else in his daily routine besides the tasks set before him by his superiors.
Despite this, he has always made it a point to write home daily, explaining to his mother and siblings the intricacies of his situation, such as the subject of the sermons he's encouraged to attend or the new bonds he'd forging with his comrades. Xelannis wasn't allowed to send these letters during his first several years as the Sanctum's pupil, but as he aged, it became more permissible, as did physical meetings with family members and others from outside the church.
The young tailor's apprentice, Sammara is one such individual. She and Xelannis have met only twice, but she shows some intrigue in him, and for that, he can't help but be interested himself. Further meetings have been arranged between them.
Most recently though, thoughts on Sammara have been tucked aside. As Xelannis prepared for the indoctrination ceremony that would welcome him as a blossoming priest, rather than a prentice, most other things were put on hold. He resigned himself fully to the duty that has been placed before him by the gods, choosing to forgo contact with his family after his mother lashed out, and accepting that he may also never be able to take a wife or sire children if it proves to be a detriment to his study or duties to the people.

Prentice Growth Form
Character Name: Xelannis Ghevont Class Promotion: Acolyte (Priest) Current Location: Pajore Journal:Journal RP Growth Point Links: ▼ - 3 points ▼ - 5 points :: Claimed here ▼ - 7 points ▼ - 4 points Class Affinity/Choice Solo: ▼ - 8 points Class Quest Solo: ▼ - Complete Items: Fetish, Dye (3), Cloak, Niiribi Root, Comb, Journal, Shoes, Change of Clothes, Sewing Kit (3), Necklace, Pelt (2) I was hoping the fetish could serve as a quill behind his ear, since I'm not sure which other item would accomplish that. Dyes to add a dark, desaturated bluish color like this █ among his clothes. A cloak and pelts for a more wintery feel, since it is approaching that season in his story line. I'd like him to keep the turtleneck he has on currently, please! Though it can use one of the dyes, if the artist wishes. The niiribi root and comb to give him one of those short, right-at-the-nape-of-the-neck ponytails that really shouldn't be longer than to his shoulders. Journal for his little black book. Shoes to give him boots and change of clothes for an edit to his pants (for that wintery look I was talking about!). The sewing kits can go toward whatever designs look good on him, and the necklace can just be up to the artist's interpretation. He has crystals in a 'choker' around his neck, if showing, as well as little clusters on the backs of his hands. Body Type: He's on the thin side of average, but generally holds himself very proper. Preferred Artists: MissMisnomer/kaname423, The Only Black Uke/kaname423, MissMisnomer full, kaname423 full, kaname423/Lilia, The Only Black Uke/Phieth, kaname423/Tasinei (style 2?) WIPs: Sure :>
