DESCRIPTION This is the district of Yhiwul City on the water planet, Vegni Prime 8, that was renovated for visitors from other worlds, but plenty of Cepalu locals visit this part of their city.

Jyothi examined the wares in this district his boss wanted a dish from a recipe he was given by an off-worlder. The recipe had to be altered slightly, it's not like plants get eaten around here. He should be able to keep the flavor the same. though he had to trust some of the merchants on what tasted like a particular plant. He gets sick if he tried them himself. He hoped the guest liked the food, he knew his boss would just devour it without caring what it actually tasted like.

He was also watching who all was here in the offworlder district. He likes seeing how different people from other planets. A lot were shorter than what he was used too, the humans were interesting. He had tried some of their food and had learned some of their spices were fine enough that they could be used in meals and even though a lot were plant based they were edible. He was still uneasy with the use of eggs in cuisine, it was rather barbaric to eat kids wasn't it. He did spot one off-worlder that was interesting perhaps female but she had wings and was covered in feathers, how interesting. What was her planet like?

                                            Alazne Ezkibel

It seemed like a fine day to go to the market, though it would have been much better if she could even see all the venues. Her luck must have been awful, because the natives were very tall, so most of the stalls were set to be a happy medium for the average heights. It would have been fine, if it weren’t for the fact that she was short, even from her own people’s standards. Alazne was a woman of 5’ 0”, and though she was petite, her wings made her seem slightly larger, folded behind her. Her attire kept her comfortably dry, and since the fabric was simple on it, she could cut out spaces for her wings, too. In her left hand was a basket, which happened to have some vegetables already, though it lacked the fish she was seeking. Thankfully, her sense of smell didn’t deceive her, especially when it was yellowfin mackerel. Her nose guided her to the correct stall, but she groaned when she realized the fish were on the top right container, just a few inches out of her reach. Worse, the man who worked the stall was in the middle of a transaction with some stranger, meaning she needed to wait. It was humiliating, but she attempted to stand on the tips of her toes to reach, but still couldn’t reach.

She was shopping too it seemed poor girl was shorter. She likely came to his chest. Though her wings did make her look bigger from a distance.she was trying to get one of the fish from the earth themed fish market. He could tell which one she was going for so he carefully grabbed it and passed it to her. "Here you go." Jyothi said offering the fish. "What are you making?" He asked. He noted the plants in her basket. Could her kind eat meat and plants? He couldnt say the plants looked any good to eat seeing as they where sold for off-worlder consumption. Prehaps she may be able to help him find the right flavors for what he was to make.

Initially, she wasn’t aware he was helping, so she expressed some irritation at how easy he made it appear. However, her expression quickly changed when she realized he was helping her, and that she misjudged. “Oh, thank you,” she said, taking the fish. Now she just needed to wait for a chance to make her purchase, though it seemed her miraculous helper sought to make conversation. He was polite enough to help her, so the least she could do was spare a few words. “It’s for a stew. I’m going to get hungry on the trip back, and it’s more expensive to buy food on the ship than it is to just make it ahead of time.” Maybe he might have wanted to have some? It was just a meal for her trip back to Bostrum, so she knew she would have likely had extra.

He said looking at the small tablet he had they hed the recipe listed he just needed to find some way to add sweeter flavors for the meat he had picked already. She mentioned that she didn't buy food on a starship. "Oh they sell food on the ships?" He asked. Oh that be great to go on them and see where it led. He was pretty much stuck here unless his boss opted to go but he would be stuck working and never get see anything. He have to somehow buy passage on a off-worlder ship that does keep up with the culture. But alas most where aware of who was and who wasn't premitted space travel.

He spoke a little funny, but that wasn’t anything new; not everyone spoke the common language all that well, and she sounded ridiculous when she was learning. However, what got her attention was his tablet. Naturally, she found herself curious to what it was he was making, and sort of glanced over at it. However, he followed up with another question before she could remark on the tablet. “Of course. I would say the food’s pretty good, not to mention a huge menu, but a little overpriced. I mean, even with the jump drives, it’s still a while before the ship can get where it needs to be, a couple hours, in fact.” Eventually, people would get hungry, at which point they would just buy the food regardless of the price, because that was all that was available; business at its finest. “I figured I would just do it myself, and save a few credits while I’m at it. You learn how to cook quite a bit when you’ve been to as many places as I have.” When she heard a whistling sound, she reverted her attention to the man working the stall and proceeded to make her purchase, placing the mackerel in her basket, before politely turning his direction so they could resume their conversation.

He watched her make her purchase. He was only looking for the right flavor to add the his ingredients. "I can live with higher prices if the food is worth it. Wish I could try them. Only so many cooking ways I can learn here. It be great to see them." He said. Currently the only non local food he got to work with were when his boss had guests. Not much time to explore the quisine when you where on a time crunch. This one was just for normal dinner. He had fed the man lunch before he left so he had time before dinner needed to be ready. Though his job paid well he still longed for more to lern and discover. But he was stuck here. Only the weathy class had acess to space travel.

Now that she thought about it, the people at the ships did prepare the food quite beautifully. Before, she would have been impressed just to see a cook on her home planet know so many foods, but a starship chef was a true master of interplanetary cuisines. Although, it did spark some curiosity in the woman as to why her new companion couldn’t. “What’s stopping you?” she asked, taking a few steps away from the stall so that others could make their own purchases. While she had a few guesses—particularly because she wasn’t uncultured and read a few things before she arrived—it never hurt to just ask. However, before he could answer, she realized she was being unintentionally rude. Someone once told her that it was impolite to exchange words for a few minutes and not exchange names. “I’m Alazne, by the way. Alazne Ezkibel,” she said, offering her hand. It seemed that humans made the shaking of hands a trendy way to greet others, and it caught on with her. If her new friend didn’t know, she would simply lower her hand, but he was in a district of outsiders.

The good thing about working for rich people was you got to at least see other races and things like handshake where quite the rage thanks to humans. So when Alazne introduced herself and offered her hand Jyothi knew what she meant. "Name's Jyothi Iyer" he said reterning the hand shake. "Well I'm not in the upper class so unless my boss needs his cook on a trip, I can't get a ticket." He explained. He had been tempted to just sneak on but he wasnt exactly stealthy and he was a tad afraid to ask for help as he be asking somebody to break a law. Though the outsiders district did help him get a bit of other world exposure. Though a lot in his gerneration where advocating for equal rights for at least space travel. Though with goverment being the way it is and true change whould have to wait till the current council starts dying off though even likely wasn't happening soon.

His name was interesting; she heard many strange names in her travels, and it never occurred to her how bizarre her name was for being long. For her, it made perfect sense to have a long name; no one else would have the exact same, but humans seemed to be just fine with sharing names. “It’s nice to meet you then, Jyothi Iyer.” He went on to explain his situation. “I read an article about that; it sounds like a drag. I know the Confederation’s been pushing for change, but I guess it’ll take time. It’s a shame you’re just stuck here. I sure as hell wouldn’t follow it; the galaxy is huge, and you’re only seeing a small fraction of it,” she replied. Now, she was never one to follow all the rules; she followed them when convenient. She didn’t want him to know she broke the rules often, though. “What’s that you’ve got there? Maybe I can help you?” she offered, changing the subject.

Jyothi thought. He had always loved the little holograms his dad would sneak home from his job at the theater. They helped quell his exploration desire as a kid but as he got older he longed more for the real thing. He was snapped back to reality when she asked about his recipe. "Oh, yeah my boss want to try some of this but plants won't sit well on the stomach. I need a viable alternative, flavor and look." He said passing the digipad to her. She may know a few alternatives he hadn't though of, she did travel more than he did

You can hardly tell the difference, and I saw a stall a few minutes ago that sold them…” Alazne looked behind her, narrowing her eyes as she tried to remember which stall had the ingredients he would need. “Come on, Jyothi. It should be over here.” Hopefully he wouldn’t lose her in the crowd or something; it must have been hard when he was experiencing completely different weather at his height.

Jyothi made note on the data pad of the foods initially thinking thats all Alazne would do. She would infact would lead him to the foods. He had the credits from his boss for the food. He alway get a little extra for himself to take home. This was no differant. She was easy to follow as her feathers where brighter than everyone elses paler skin. Of course some items where higher than she could reach and he helped her with those even offered her a sample some local, well local as in this planet, cusine. He wouldn't be offended if she declined. If he recaled her race was vegetarian by cultural choice. It was warm so he rolled the sleaves on his attire and exposing his scar he had since birth. Soon it was getting time for him to go make said meal. "Sadly I must go and actully make this meal for my boss. Prehaps he will take a business trip and want to take his cook along. Then prehaps I can try that ship food" He said as a goodbye.

Eventually, the ship was preparing to leave, and Alazne would be on her merry way as she made her last stroll through the market and towards the spaceport. She had a hunch she’d meet her semiaquatic companion once again, so she didn’t make haste at all while she walked towards her destination. It was a good thing Jyothi was far taller and therefore much easier to distinguish from others in a crowd. Despite having seen a multitude of different races, it was pretty difficult to miss a giant fish boy.
