Jason always loved spending time outdoors, even on an evening where the sky was dark with clouds and the scent of rain was in the air. Those were the best nights to be outside, trapped in his own thoughts. He had spent that day in class and then escaped off to the marina for a while. The weather had kept him from sailing, but it could not stop him from just enjoying being on the boat and feeling the rocking of the waves. It was great inspiration for his music and a good distraction from his day to day lifestyle. The only time he spent indoors was for class, sleeping, and he occasional meal, but even some of that he preferred being outside for.
It was getting late though and with the smell of rain in the air he figured it was about time he turned in for the night. With a little sigh he packed up his guitar and slung it over his shoulder. It wasn't long before the marina had faded away and he was well on his way towards his apartment building. The idea of living in a dorm on campus wasn't appealing to him, he preferred the quietness of his own place without the worry or party-crazed students living near by. Of course, living at home definitely wasn't an option either. It would be harder for him to avoid his father and the pressures of taking on the daunting task of becoming a Doctor. He had somehow avoided telling his parents about his Major change for a whole year of school. If that gave anyone an idea of how invested in his life they were. Ebony was a mess as well...he had no idea what his sister was up to these days....
His thoughts were starting to wander again. If only he could turn around and spend the night on the boat, escaping from reality just a while longer. At least he could get away from it all once his head hit the pillow on his bed. didn't he have an exam in one of his classes tomorrow? Had he even studied? Well,
he might just be in for an all-nighter anyway. In that case, the sooner her got home the better.
He started to pick up the pace a bit when he entered the park, he had discovered some time ago that by passing through there he could get to and from the marina just a bit faster. There weren't too many people around this late in the evening and he wasn't particularly scared of the dark or anything. If anyone came at him with some nasty intentions he could just swing his guitar at them, maybe knock them off their feet enough for him to get away.
Nope, he definitely wasn't worried.

Acubens wasn't afraid of guitars. She wasn't afraid of much, really, except spiders and the dark. Oh, and her reflection. But that was once and it was like 3:30 and in her defense she is a horrifying vision when she just wakes up. None the less, however, she was undeterred by the pace of the young man walking through the park that night. She matched it, hidden in darkness, and drew the mirror shard out of her fuku. The resulting wraith darted forward, needing no further instruction as to what it had to do. Acubens welcomed the energy, feeding her court as it needed. Until, that is, something registered within her. Something felt... off. The energy coming from the young man was different. Was it something the wraith was doing? She watched it, darting back and forth through the young man and growing more corporeal by the moment, but nothing was different. Was she doing something different? Acubens took stock of what she was doing, where she was positioned, but came up with nothing. Everything was the same. So that meant that it had to have been... "Hey," she exclaimed, calling the wraith back. "You. You with the guitar. Come here for a second." Was this the most logical way to go about doing this? Of course not. But Acubens had never been one to operate under logic in her most reasonable of moments. But now, in the grip of confusion, she acted on impulse. And her impulse demanded that she show herself and demand answers. Was he negaverse, simply unpowered? If that was so, then maybe she should have stayed hidden. Not many of that ilk were fond of being called out, especially not as civilians. But the thought occurred to Acubens too late as she stalked closer to the young man, waving her mirror shard like a mad woman. "You energy feels different." She stated when she was close enough, as though he would know what she was talking about. "Nothing is different about what I'm doing, except you. You are the only variable that's different in this situation. Are you negaverse? White Moon? Explain."

Katya wasn't a normal cat, despite what her appearance said, she was a guardian cat and to those who were powered they would sense it - without a doubt. But the hat and necklaces that adorned her steel blue coat did stand out, and to normal people might just say she had a well off and possibly eccentric owner. After all, who let there cat out with a cloth little crown and pearls about their neck? certainly not a sane pet owner, though there were some who had dogs with diamond encrusted collars, but those were toy dogs...and did they count as dogs? Really? Plus they doubled as fashion accessories anyway, remaining on their owners person at all times, or so it seemed. She didn't feel pity for those yapping things, nor did she envy them. She was independant and was smarter than them - thank you very much.
Tonight she was out, which wasn't all that uncommon, patrolling the park on her own. She knew it was dangerous here but she felt no worry or nervousness by being here. If she needed back up she was sure she could find it - the park was known for 'terrorists'. Not to mention she could always laser someone in the face for good measure.
What she was not expecting was to come across what was certainly a dark mirror senshi...following someone. How interesting...
Seeing what was happening, but also feeling something off in the air, Katya darted forward as well, little paws carrying her toward the two figures as fast as a cat her size could move.
Deciding to speak out, as she heard the dark mirror senshi speaking, the guardian cat called out as she closed the distance between herself and them. "No! Unawakened!" And with no way of contacting Benitoite...and no Generals around from what she could feel...this one was going to the dark mirror, she would tell Alexandre later tonight.
"This one is untouched." She added as she got closer, her voice lower now.

Jason wasn't won't to spook easily, but something about the clouded evening sky was making his skin crawl. He actually slowed down his pace a bit, just so he could hear a little bit better around himself. There wasn't anyone else around that he could tell, and why would there be? It was going to rain any second now, they'd be crazy to have a stroll through the park at this time. Maybe it would have been better for him to take the path around the park after all. It only saved him a couple minutes to his apartment.
He was just about half way through when things started to give him a bit of a fright. Did he just see a shadow out of the corner of his eye? He looked behind him but didn't see anything. What was this feeling though? His heart started to race a bit, and he was feeling like he could really use his bed right about now. Again, there was that sensation that something was behind him. When he turned around to look this time though he heart someone call out to him. That caused him to jump. At least he managed to keep his mouth shut. No one would hear him scream out here anyway, plus he considered himself a little more manly than that.
Of course he had heard rumors of the 'terrorists' in the city, he wouldn't be a very good journalist if he hadn't. Of course, he would rather stay out of all that business if he could. There were better things to write stories about and with all the people that disappeared in this city, he'd rather not become one of them by getting caught up, sneaking around, and spying on any of them. This was actually his first encounter with one. At least that's what he assumed she was. With that outfit, waving around some mirror like a crazy person. Negaverse? White Moon? He had no context to understand what any of those things were.
Should he run? For whatever reason his legs sort of felt like jello, would he be able to make it out of the park? Why didn't he keep his phone in his hand while he walked in the dark alone. It was somewhere in the messenger bag slung over his shoulder. He wouldn't get it out in time to call for help. Before he could even think of an answer, other than the confusion written all over his face, another voice spoke up. He looked around but didn't notice anyone else around. Not until he heard it again, softer this time and he looked down to see an eccentrically dressed cat.
This was a dream right? He must have fallen asleep on the Voyager after all. There was no way this made any sense. "I have...absolutely.....no idea what either of you is talking about." He was talking to a cat. A cat that could also talk. And some crazy terrorist. His gripped tightened on the guitar strap on his shoulder, but he stood his ground. He didn't know what else to do in a situation like this.

The sudden appearence of a cat admittedly took Acubens' off guard. She'd never seen a cat other than the little b***h who awakened her and then Pippin who had been with her while she was White Moon. But this one... felt... different. She looked down at her, blinking as thought that might clear away her confusion. So chaos... had guardian cats? It made sense, Acubens reflected. It had it's own version of knights, it had senshi of various kinds. It may as well have cats as well. Still, she marveled for perhaps longer than she should have before she finally spoke. "Unawakened," she parroted as she looked from the young man to the cat and then back again. Well, not every Dark Mirror Senshi corrupted... unless he was a corrupted senshi... or even a white moon waiting to be awakened. In which case she was more keen on walking away and leaving him be. She didn't really need nor did she want another self-righteous jerk in white walking around telling her what she knew about her court. Acubens' bitterness surprised to and she had to take a step back. Well, if this was a white moon senshi, Acubens would just have to take him directly to Remarque to bring him home, wouldn't she? And if he was corrupted then she'd just... kinda... leave. She'd never really come upon a corrupted senshi, but knew that they existed. And if her previous interactions with the negaverse were very telling, then she was in no hurry to be involved with them anymore. "So..." she ventured carefully, watching the cat out of the side of her eye, "are you going to... I don't know... do the thing? Or do I need to do something?" Again, Acubens' ignorance of the ways of her court was embarrassing. Granted, she had no business knowing how to awaken a senshi, it seemed a little above her pay grade, but she was ashamed none the less.

"Yes unawakened. Unclaimed.." The Russian blue explained further as she jabbed a paw in the males direction. "Potential...but not touched by any side." She added, to clarify, as it seemed like the other was unsure of what she meant, if the others parroting of that single was was anything to go by.
"I can't awaken a senshi. I can only identify one and provide them their henshin pen. I can also upgrade senshi - that's it." She spoke shaking her little heard befor emoving towards the thus far ignored male. Rubbing against his legs she stared up at him. "You'll make a lovely senshi..." She purred out while rubbing her face to his leg. Letting herself get a feel for the power in him, untapped, and then smiled as much as a cat could.
"Saffron..." So that was the sphere - how lovely.
"I don't know how you awaken your senshi. I would have to find an officer and have them call a General King or a General Queen...and I can't sense any officers around. I have no means of contacting anyone." She spoke honestly. "So this one is going to be yours, as much as it pains me." And it did. She loved having corrupted senshi around her, ones she could keep as her little babies, but this one wasn't meant to be hers.
"We can't let him escape though - if one of the others sides cats finds him...they can awaken him on there own." And he'd be lost to both there sides then.

There was silence for a time, long enough for Jason to debate if he could actually make a run for it. What would happen if he tried to run away though? He only knew the rumors, he didn't know what they were actually capable of. What they could do to him if he stepped out of line just a little bit. He gave her a questioning look when she called him unawakened. All he could make sense of that was that he was asleep or something. Which he wasn't, he was pretty sure of that at this point since his grip on his guitar strap was actually starting to hurt.
He was more focused on the lady in front of him, so the cat by his feet started him a bit. Yet, he was still careful not to step on their little feet. He had a bit of a fondness for cats himself, so even if it was a creepy, talking one, he didn't want to hurt it. Besides, what could it really do to him? Scratch him with their claws? A Senshi? What was that supposed to mean? Saffron, the spice? He was definitely being left in the dark here and the more that the cat spoke, the more worried he became.
"I...feel...Like I'm not getting a say in any of this. And personally, as cool as talking cats are, I'm not sure I want to be involved...." He took a step back from the both of them, wanting to gauge their reaction a bit before doing anything to rash.

Unclaimed. So... senshi were of neither side until someone claimed them? Acubens made a note to herself to write that down in her research later. For now, however, this young man needed and deserved her undivided attention. She turned fully towards him and reached for his hands. "No, of course you deserve a day in this. This is your life, after all. But before you make any choices, I want to explain to you what this all means." Acubens smiled warmly and took a long, deep breath, trying to find the words to explain without sounding terribly biased. It was true, she wanted the young many to choose her court... but not because she wanted to claim his starseed for it. She wanted him to choose the Dark Mirror Court because... in the end... it was safer. But how did she explain that? Slowly, she supposed. "You've heard of the terrorists, right? Well, they're called Senshi, and they are essentially reincarnated souls from millions of years ago. Now, as outlandish as that sounds, it's true. I used to be one of them. My name is Sailor Acubens, Senshi of Velociraptors. I am named for a star, as you will be when you are awakened by someone. And you will be awakened by someone. I am asking you to follow me because I know that you will not get a choice as to if you want to become what you will become or not. I am asking you to follow me because if you do not then one of two things will happen. The first thing that may happen is a negaverse officer will find you and they will force you to awaken. The second thing that may happen is that a white moon senshi will find you and they will force you to awaken. If one of them finds you, you will be forced to fight." Acubens risked a step forward, trying to keep the young man calm, not overwhelm him, but still get her message across. "You will fight in a war that very few understand with no end in sight. You will fight and either you will win or you will lose, but you will be fodder. I am asking you to come with me, because I can offer an alternative. The Dark Mirror Court." Another step closer, keeping her distance, but trying also to make sure the young man didn't run away. "We are separate from the war. While the White Moon and the Negaverse fight each other, we are looking for a way to protect ourselves and our family from the war that tears our city apart. We are a small court, but our goals are our own, and not bound to queens who never show their face. And being small also gives us the advantage of being able to look out for one another better..." Was she making sense? She hoped she was making sense. "So right now, you have a choice. Come with me and be saved from the war, or wait for someone else to find you and be forced to fight."

Watching the male back up, intending to flee likely, she moved and latched her claws into his pant leg, intent upon keeping him here. He was not leaving - not when they could awaken him. Looking up at him with olive colored eyes she rubbed her face to his pant leg. "We can give you power...make you something lovely." And precious, at least to her. Her feline yes moved to the dark mirror senshi, expecting her to do something...and soon.
While Acubens took his hands, insuring he didn't run off, Katya withdrew her claws and decided to continue rubbing against his legs. Cats, as she knew, were said to be just as calming and relaxing as dogs were...she thought cats were better. Hopefully he would be down for awakening, she wanted to awaken another senshi, even if it was for the dark mirror, she didn't get to do this often enough. She did understand Acubens though...Benitoite could be like this also...though he tended to recruit people more by accident than anything it seemed.
"Well, a thousand years ago. That soul was reincarnated before but on that planet...star...ect." She chimed in from down at his feet. She knew some of the story, she was a guardian cat after all. It was something she could tell her corrupted senshi as well, it was her job to know these things and inform them of such things.
"A white moon senshi cannot awaken...a cat can. Some of them, on that side, tend to leave newly awakened senshi with little to no information and no allies. They are left almost clueless and that's not at all acceptable." Katya added in, nodding her head. The dislike for the other side, and it's guardian cats, clear in her tone of voice if not her body language which also spoke of her dislike for the other side.
"I agree though...as a cat who serves the Negaverse I can tell you that you will be expected to fight. I could offer to bring you to my General and we call a General King or Queen to corrupt you. But again, it is your choice and you would on my side be forced to fight. My General may be kind, and nurturing of his officers, but it's unavoidable." She would tell the truth, let him make the best choice - so long as it wasn't order.
"You will, in some cases, as a member of her court have allies within the Negaverse - such as my General." So joining this..Acubens did offer that added bonus, at least in some cases such as her General.
"If you don't join her...I won't let you join the white moon - they are in the wrong in this war. I will find a way to summon a General King or Queen and bring you to my side." She added, honestly. "I won't allow one of their cats to awaken you to their side and potentially leave you clueless - it should be criminal." The cats on that side which did that, and those who woke children, deserved a good beating and she would love to deliver it personally.

The cat was the first one to make any sort of move on him. Seconds after stepping back he could feel the pressure on his leg. It might have been some sort of evil cat for all he knew, but he didn't feel right about kicking it away. It had tried to be comforting to him earlier, despite some of it's words sort of catching him off guard. He instinctively held out his hands in front of him when the woman stepped toward him, which was a bit of a mistake as, instead of attacking him, she just gently reached out to hold his hands. He gave her a puzzling look at first, studying her face, but he couldn't exactly say she looked like she was evil, rude, or even lying to him.
She was the...wait. What? Senshi of Velociraptors? That sounded outlandish, but is that what the cat had meant earlier when she had called him Saffron?How could she know that if he wasn't 'awakened' as they called him. He listened carefully to what each of them had to say. It certainly did explain a lot of what happened in this crazy city. People were disappearing all the time, a secret war going on behind the scenes could certainly help to explain all of that.
Honestly, he didn't want to get involved in all that craziness. He had a lot of his own trouble to worry about. The fury he'd eventually face from his father, and out of control sister, and school to worry about. He didn't get enough sleep as it was these days. Though, the way they were talking, it sounded like he was going to get in the middle of this one way or another.
"You're saying....as one of the Dark Mirror Court...I wouldn't be at risk of getting dragged into this war? I have enough going on as it is, but it doesn't seem like I have much of a choice here. Or well, any really good ones..." He took a deep breathe. If he didn't accept his fate now, then someone was bound to drag him into it kicking and screaming some time later. "So....how do I....become one of you?" Based on how she reacted earlier he wasn't sure she knew everything herself. He looked down at the cat for a second,
but even she had said she didn't know how it was done for them.

For a moment, Acubens wasn't sure exactly what the young man would choose. But when he began asking more questions, she knew she had a chance. When he asked about his choices, Acubens took an overly eager step forward and nodded with an emphatic, "the war doesn't touch us all that much. Only if we invite it in, and most of us don't. We may have friendships with the negaverse and the white moon, but our singular duty remains to keep one another safe. We do not choose a side int he war as a court, though some may choose to do so on their own. I haven't, for instance." Had she spoken too quickly? Had he gotten any of that? Oh she was so close! How do I become one of you?The question made her heart leap into her throat, causing a happy yelp to escape. Acubens recovered quickly however, sobered by the fact that she... she didn't exactly know herself. Well, if it was anything like how she had been baptized then... to the throne room they went. It was worth a shot anyway. She reached out again and offered her hand to the young man with a welcoming smile. "I have some ideas. But you need to be touching me the whole time for this to work. Otherwise, our little walk will end with you being spat out by a mirror gods only know where. You too kitty. I need to be holding on to you too, I think. Well, better safe than sorry, really." She held her other arm out for the cat the jump in to, should she want to accompany them on their journey through mirror space. She wasn't sure if she was still needed... well probably. Mr. Saffron hadn't gotten his henshin pen yet. "We're going to mirrorspace, which is our dominion. IT's a parallel world that you will be able to access whenever you please once you awaken. The throne room has a mirror, the Black Mirror. It's the one I was baptized in, and I think it might be where we need to go for you."

"Indeed, you are correct Acubens. I know my General is on good terms with your Prince and knows your Princess as well, though I believe he is closer to your Prince Remarque. I have met him as well, he is quite nice." She spoke gently. She knew Benitoite would never try and drag his friend into a fight but she also knew that if Remarque ever needed it Benitoite would support and back him in a fight, a scary combination in a fight if you asked her. The idea of someone going against those two...she knew who the winners would be.
Looking at the dark mirror senshi she nodded her little head. "Sounds good to me. Let's go." And she made to leap at the senshi of raptors, intent on climbing up and draping herself across the other shoulders...and digging her claws in to keep her hold on the other.
"If it worked for you it should be the same for him. Awakening is the same every time...for each group anyway." She piped up as she climbed from the others arm to the senshi's shoulder and draping herself there she clung on tightly.
"I'm ready when you and Saffron are...I will give you his name once we are in there...and I do know it - that's one of my jobs." Saffron, if he wanted, would learn that her biggest job was helping senshi who served chaos and despite him being in the dark mirror court - she would help. He was still one she was helping to corrupt. She would help to train him to the best of her ability, even if it would be limited as she served the Negaverse and lacked in knowledge on dark mirrors. She would speak to Remarque and find out more - she would do better!

It wasn't exactly what Jason had planned for the rest of his evening. It seemed unavoidable at this point and the curious-reporter part of his brain was starting to act up. This was a chance to get on the inside of all the 'secret' things happening in Destiny City. He was just starting to realize how ironically named the city was. Did things like this happen everywhere, or was there something special about this City to cause all this? That might be something worth investigating in the long run.
At least Acubens seemed excited, should he be excited with her? He was joining her cause in a way afterall. In a normal situation he'd probably be a little more charming and excitable himself. It had just been a very, very long day. And until a few moments ago he was pretty sure he was going to be jumped by a terrorist. He managed a friendly smile at least toward her reaction, it seemed the least he could do.
He took her hand confidently at first, but as she explained what she was going to be doing he got a just a little bit nervous. He did not like the idea of being thrown out of this Mirror Space into 'Gods know where'. "And here I thought the whole 'Mirror' thing was just a fancy name..." He attempted a little bit of humor to shake away his nerves. He had committed to this, at least as his best course of action. It helped a bit to know the cat would be joining them. "I never did get your name by the way...:" He looked over at the cat sitting on Acubens shoulders. Surely they had a name right? If they could talk....
"Right...well. Ready when you are then." He gripped the Senshi's hand just a little bit tighter, no way was he going to get lost somewhere tonight.

Acubens winced at the feeling of claws in her shoulder, but ignored it. "No, literally mirrors," she threw over her shoulder, heading directly for the one that she had come through in the first place, cat on one shoulder and stranger in the other hand. Mirrorspace was the same as it ever was, which was to say that it was totally different this time around. "My name? I told you, it's Acubens -- ooooh the cat. Hey yeah, what is your name?" Acubens had been so excited about the possibility of growing her family that she had totally forgotten the civilities she held in such high regards. "Pardon my rudeness, miss kitty," she apologized, using her free hand to scratch the cat between the eyes. "This is mirrorspace," she finally announced, gesturing to the realm at large. "It's our home away form home, but it's never really the same way twice. The only thing that stays the same is the Common Room -- this place -- and the Throne Room, which is just beyond these super subtle doors." Acubens strode confidently towards the floor to ceiling doors before her, quipping the whole way. "If there is one thing that we are known for, it's subtlety. As you can see." The door gave way easily under Acubens' hand and opened on to a massive mirrored hall. At the back of the hall was a throne that Acubens had never seen occupied and a pale crystal filtering energy that other senshi were collecting. "That's the crystal that helps us collect energy. Remarque tells me not to touch it but that makes me want to touch it more... Oh, here we are!" Acubens stopped just short of the mirror that she had been baptized in. "The Black Mirror," she explained. "Soon enough, it should sense your starseed, the way it sensed mine. And then it just kind of..." She made a comping sound to mimic the mirror eating someone up, "and then it spits you back out was one of us. At least... that's how it worked with me... are you ready? Keep a hold of me, but move forward. I'll be right beside you the whole time. And I'm really good at breaking things, so if anything goes wrong, I've got your back." She winked lightly, trying to take some of the seriousness away. This was stressful, she knew it was. This young man was being thrown into a world that he knew little about... the least Acubens could do was make him laugh, right? "When you come back out, you won't need me to hold on to you. You will have a name and a sphere. But I'll still be here. I'll make sure that you can run a mile before I ever leave you." She smiled warmly, squeezing his bicep comfortingly.

"Me...oh!" Laughing she nuzzled against the dark mirror senshi's shoulder before looking to the soon to be dark mirror senshi. "Katya and I serve General Benitoite." She spoke lightly, though no less proud. She was proud of who she was and to whom she called an owner...though she really owned him, as everyone should know. "it is alright, I forgot to introduce myself as well. I got a bit...carried away with duties - they do come first after all." She answered nodding her head while reaching out to touch the male with a single little paw.
Looking around, taking in whatever mirror space had to offer, she couldn't help herself. She didn't know much about mirror space and wanted to know more - everything she could learn. She really was going to have to track down Remarque...or just get Alexandre to let her use his cell phone, she was sure that wouldn't be too hard. She'd let him know he had a new senshi as well, he'd appreciate knowing that.
"Mirror space is very different from Negaspace and the Rift...it lacks...though I could, at times, do without the youma...they don't like guardian cats or corrupted senshi." She spoke gently as she rubbed her head to the eternal senshi's shoulder.
"I already told you his sphere - it's saffron. He is the senshi of saffron." She said purring happily from the senshi's shoulder.
