Caliban stretched his arms out a bit as he looked over the darkened park. He was supposed to meet some page here or something for a bit of sparring. He had heard through the White Moon grapevine about some knights and some senshi who were wanting some fighting practice, and he had managed to get in contact with... what was her name again? Meru? With this page.
He was a bit nervous, which was why he was spending his time waiting for her to arrive by stretching out. Although he had sparred before and he had even fought Negaverse agents, he still didn't believe he had that great of skills when it came to sparring. He wasn't exactly the best teacher one could have, though he didn't believe she expected him to be, but still. He wished he could do a bit more.
Luckily though, it was a nice night out which calmed him a bit, especially since he could breath in the nice night air so deeply. He hadn't been able to do that in the winter. He sighed once again as he kept an eye out for the other. They had decided on this time of night after they were both off of work.

After getting beat up more than once by Negaverse agents, Meru thought it was time to at least try and get some help. She had reached out to groups Order aligned, and found someone to teach her. Honestly, she still didn't really want to be there to fight, but maybe she could at least learn to fend someone off.
Meru approached the brown haired, grey eyed male and smiled. "You must be...Caliban? My teacher for the day?" It was a little weird to say since the male looked years younger than her. "I don't really know how to fight, but I'm really getting tired of getting beat up and taken advantage of." Meru frowned, remembering the times where someone always seemed to get the upper hand.
"I'm Meru, Page of Cosmos. I hope I don't get beat up too badly today."

Caliban smiled softly at her. Well, this wouldn't be the first time he had tried to teach someone how to fight a bit better. He figured he was only as good as he was because of how much dodging he did every day with parkour. "Yes, I am. It's nice to meet you Meru. And I hope that we can both teach each other a little."He stepped back a little. "Uh right... well, do you want to start with you throwing a punch at me or do you want me to try to attack you first? I mean, if you want to practice either offense or defense more than the other that's fine with me." After all, his powers were incapacitating someone else, so he had to learn how to do both himself. ATh e a r t I'm terrible at spar starts XD

"I'm... Not sure what I can teach you. Not about fighting anyways." Meru fidgeted, wondering what she could exchange. "I'm a massage therapist in my civilian life? I can always give you my card and give you a free massage?" She laughed jus ta little. "Else, I can teach you how to massage yourself if your muscles ever ache?"
Meru thought some more. "I bake too. Goodies with alcohol like tiramisu!" She could feel herself salivate just thinking about it. Maybe it was time to make some for herself soon. It sounded like a good reward if she felt like she did well enough today.
She debated what she wanted to learn, balling her hands into fists and getting ready to punch. It didn't feel right though, so she put her hands back down again. "I think I'd prefer learning how to defend myself. I'm... not really wanting to hurt people." Meru didn't really mind being hurt though.

"Well that's all right. But learning a bit of massage would be interesting. Or maybe I can just take you up on that free massage sometime." He replied, laughing a bit. He probably should though, considering how many bruises and pulled muscles he gave himself. "And that does sound delicious." He was mostly a dinner-making type of person, but he wouldn't pass up the opportunity of sweets either. He nodded, getting himself ready also. "Sounds good. I'll try throwing a fist out first to see if you can block it, okay?" He waited for her to get ready before he sent out his fist, aiming for her chest.

Meru smiled at his laugh. "You can take your pick! If we do this more than once, you can always choose more than one thing!" She nodded, agreeing with herself. If someone managed to teach her to defend herself, Meru would literally owe her life to them.
"Hm... Defending myself..." She balled her hands into fists and then put them up to her face. She stood straight, not knowing what to do with her legs, but at least her arms might be right? "Okay... Go for it!"

"Sounds good to me!" He said, right before he sent out his fist. He wasn't really going to hurt her, though he could understand if she flinched from his fist. After all, it hurt to be hit with things, and if one wasn't ready or used to it, then flinching or jumping or defending themselves would be normal. He supposed he only got through it because of adrenaline. "Try to block this!" No way was he going to use his powers in a spar like this.

She thought she was ready for the punch. Boy was she wrong. It definitely wasn't a full powered one, but it still hit her, landing on her shoulder. Okay, Meru should have been able to block that. If only she reacted with her hands and moved them to defend her body. "Maybe I'm just slow..."
Meru thought back where she was watching the punch come, but not reacting to it. She couldn't help but frown. "That was pretty terrible, wasn't it?" She relaxed her arms and fiddled with her hair ribbon, wondering how badly Caliban thought that was. She wasn't ready to give up yet.
"Maybe we can try this in succession? You keep punching until I pick up on your movements and... try to defend myself?" It made sense when she thought of it, but wasn't sure if her idea was clear.

He nodded his head. "That's a good idea. I know some people have problem with their reaction times, and it can be difficult for them unless they practice a lot." At least he wouldn't have to beat up on her now. "I'm just going to jab at you, though I'll try not to hit you. I don't think it would be a good idea to hit you over and over again. I'll go far enough that you can still block me, but you won't be getting hurt all right?" He said before he threw another punch. Sure, other opponents wouldn't be as easy on her, but everyone had to start somewhere.

"It's okay, you're free to hit. I can take it!" Meru wasn't sure how much she could take, exactly, but she could always get a massage from one of her co-workers the next day. Even though she wasn't quite that hurt yet, just the idea of it made Meru excited. "I don't think I'll learn unless it hurts at least a bit. Some bruising is a-okay!"
Right after she said that, Caliban threw another punch and, once again, it hit Meru, this time on her arm. It didn't hurt, but Meru grunted, irritated that she couldn't even block a simple punch. "Okay! You're free to go whatever speed you'd like. I'll... try to match!"

Caliban still wasn't sure about actually hurting her. It might have been a lot of punches before she was even able to block one of them. However, he nodded. "All right, I'll still try not to do it too hard though. And remember, it's okay if you don't block as much as you think you should, some people are naturals, while others take some time. And besides, physical fighting isn't always the best way to go in a situation anyway."And after waiting for her to get herself ready again, he then continued with his punches.

Meru nodded at his words. "No pain, no gain, right?" She held up her arms, once again in a defensive position. At first, she was still taking hits just as he had before, but after a few more, she was getting in the rhythm and sort of started seeing how people moved. Meru made educated guesses and eventually blocked a few jabs. It seemed to go on for a while, Meru's heart rate increased, mostly from the adrenaline of being struck and trying to dodge.
"I managed to dodge... A couple?" She laughed. It was definitely better than nothing. Much, much better than getting beat up by others. "A lot more painful than my yoga sessions! How do you think I did?"

Caliban could see Meru making improvement and was quite happy for her. Although she wasn't perfect, she was at least learning what to do. After they had been at it for a while and was able to block a few jabs, he stopped for a bit. "Yes! You did great! Don't worry that you only blocked a few. That's better than how you were doing before, so you are definitely able to do this!" He replied enthusiastically. He hadn't really done this before, and he was surprised that even this little bit of sparring could be fun. "We can continue on if you want? But if you're too tired I understand. And we can meet up again another time too. Just try to remember what you did this time and I'm sure you'll be doing much better in no time!"

It wasn't much, but Meru could feel herself aching. Parts of her body was due to being hit, the others because of trying to defend herself. "Part of me really wants to keep going, but I really don't want to get bruised." She laughed. There was enough bruising when she ran into people that want to hurt her.
"How about I save your contact information and we can continue next week or something?" There was still no desire to fight back, but finding different ways of defending herself could be nice. "Annnd..." She pulled out a business card for Caliban. "There's my business card for massages."
Meru wasn't sure if she should give out her civilian identity, but they were on the same side so should be no issue? She quickly went to see if there was any other auras around her, but felt nothing, so powered down. "I'm Leonora. It's very nice to meet you!"

Caliban nodded. He understood at least. There had been quite a few times he would go home exhausted after a parkour workout and wake up feeling sore and stiff because he didn't realize how hurt he was. "Good idea. But at least you got some practice in."He gladly took one of her business cards, and powered down himself. "Derrick. Nice to meet you too." He replied, smiling a bit. However, he didn't have a business card himself. But he did have a few cards and a pen that he liked to carry around in his fanny pack, he needed a bit more than a wallet and some pockets when moving around sometimes, and wrote his contact information down. "All right, I think we got it then. And it was very nice meeting you Meru/Leonora. I'll try and get a visit in some time. I'm sure that my back is full of knots or whatever. It sounds like a good idea at least." He would wait for her to make her goodbyes too before going off and resting in his apartment for a bit. This sparring session had worn him out! ATh e a r t All right, ending post from me but you can do one too! Thanks for the rp and we can do another one later sometime! (like a regular one where he goes to the massage business or something lol)
