It was around 10 am when Arron decided to go out. He slowly got ready, enjoying the peeking light of the sun through his window. He disparagingly noticed dust on the pane and hoped his father would not notice. He flicked his hair back over his long, pointed ears and patted his cat. His weird hairless cat. Who purred obnoxiously at the attention. "Hey there cat," He said, crooning goofy nonsense to the feline who gurgled right back in cat speak. They had a deep understanding. He was definitely a cat person. He saw a great pack of perzi in his future yes. It was a good day to go looking for critters, of course every day was but he felt an especially strong pull yanking him out the door. But he would not without his journal. He needed it to record all the things, especially since Sezarra had sent him one from wherever she happened to be, it was blue with a wave design on it. Very precious to him as he believed it came all the way from Matori. It had a note from her in it. To my little cousin I hope to compare notes with you one day! Sezarra

Ruulu was watching her Mother cook from a peeking hole upstairs. She watched as Iroia sang softly and moved unconsciously through weapons formed as she dumped hated vegetables into a pot. It was poetry in motion, culinary ninja art in fact. Ruulu was absolutely fascinated. But eventually the sound of her older brother scratching around in his room interupted her thoughts. How unthoutghtful of him to disturb her. She poked her head through his door. "Hey, what are you looking for?" She didn't like asking him, but oh well. He had her attention now he might as well be grateful for it. Her hair dangled over her shoulder, long like many alkidikes had it. More importantly long like her Father's. Arron's was more like her mother's except for the coloration of course. Inferior of course to her own. She was secretly jealous of the color though.

Ahh it was his little sister again. He didn't like to think that she was spoiled but he was afraid it might be true. Except that her spoiling she seemed to dream up for herself because his parents were too smart for that. He hoped. "I'm looking for my journal, you know that blue thing that I sleep with under my pillow half the time." It was true too, he did, having it close made him happy. It had all the critters he had seen in it, carefully transcribed from his cousin's book before he had it sent back to her. His cat was in it along with all the bugs he had found, the rest of the family pets and all the pets he could draw from the village. It meant more to him than gold.

All of this stress over that journal. Sure it was pretty, but it took Arron so long to draw a thing that Ruulu would be busy chasing the thing by then. She really didn't see the point. He said it was because she was too young. She said it was because he was stupid. Aisha would be the judge. She didn't think she was childish. Arron had never had a childhood, she could enjoy hers. "Have you tried looking under the cat?" He replied that it was not under the cat. "How do you know if you didn't look." Did he just growl at her?

Arron was starting to suspect his little sister of subterfuge. It was no secret that she liked pretty things. What was wrong with the females of this family, no one ever seemed to make much sense. He had almost lost Volka and that separation, and the fact that she was his twin endeared her further to him. He respected her, cared for her, she still confused him occasionally but he would figure it out usually. Now Ruulu on the other hand...seldom made any sense, was never lost and came with an entitled brat tag. "Ruulu, do you have it?" Volka would never try such a thing, but he would put nothing past his little sister. Selvei liked to cuddle, Ruulu liked to dominate.

Well she never! What on earth would she want with his silly doodles! Welp, he deserved what he got. "Oh?! Well how about you come get it then!" She screeched out something akin to her Mother's best warcry (Iroia dropped a cucumber down below it was so accurate), and raced down the stars and out the door, feet flying. She blew through the yard and leaped over the log that marked the trail into the trees of Jauhar. She would run until she could run no more then she would hide as only a sister could. Her skills in bushcraft would crush his! The best part was that SHE didn't have the journal had in fact NO IDEA where it was.

Arron was just about to pick up the cat and actually look there he was so desperate when Ruulu started a temper tantrum. He gazed after her with his mouth open, such uncouth behaviour! Before he knew it his own feet were taking him out the door to his room and after her. Not quite as fast because he was big enough to slam into something, including his mother. He saw bewilderment in her eyes and shrugged as he ran. He saw his sisters little blue butt leap the log and disapear....who taught her to run that fast?! He sped after her, but he was by nature more cautious. There were things in them there woods, he should know he had found quite a few of them. Probably nothing that would eat her at the moment, much as she might deserve it. But it would be better to check first. It might eat him too after all.

Ruulu cackled to herself, or would have if she had enough air too. She was still pelting flat out before she found the perfect bush to duck under. An excellent hiding place if she did say so herself. Her brother would expect her to take to the trees but she was no shifter to be toodling about in high branches. She wasn't sure she liked heights yet. So a bush it would be! This one had thick ribbed leaves that brushed against her skin. It tickled a little but she ignored it. She heard his footsteps approaching. He was so slow if he had really been serious about catching her he would have come much faster.

His footsteps slowed and so did his racing heart. The trail ended here, did she take to the trees? No. There were no signs of a scrabble up the bark. He laid a hand on the broad chest of one of the nearest forest giants. There were enough wrinkles for her to climb sure, he walked around the tree but still there were no marks to be seen. Where was she? He poked around a bit like any good tracker, trying to pick up the trail again. "Ruulu, Ruulu," he muttered under his breath. There was no where else for her to be..except. Oh no! Not the blisterbush. "Ruulu if you are in that bush you better come out now, and don't break any of the leaves, if you do the juice will burn you."

Ruulu took a deep breath, he was serious, she could tell from his voice, fear gripped her heart and suddenly the game was not so funny. She sidled out from under the bush and into the arms of her concerned brother. He brushed the dead leaves off her and inspected her skin which was turning purplish with irritation. He scooped her up and raced back to the house, trying his best not to trip. "What is it? Why does it itch?" she said fiercly beginning to scratch as he moved along the trail. It felt like her skin was lighting on fire and her eyes widened as she stared at her skin then up at his face, so like her Mother's.

"Its a blister plant, you are going to be fine, your older sister and I have had our run ins with these before but unlike you I was not lucky enough to not break the leaves on me. That is the worst. If we can get you to that cream in time we will be okay. You will be okay anyway but it will sting less the sooner we get there." He marched into the house and straight to the cupboard, he laid his little sister on the couch with the other arm not holding the itch cream he had retrieved. "Hold still." he said as he started dabbing the itchy blisters that had begun to pop up on her delicate skin. Soon she looked pretty spotty and he couldn't help but smile at her. "You look so cute."

Now ordinarily she would be flattered at the compliment, especially from her brother but as it was she was a little peeved now. She glared at him. "Thanks." She muttered. Why was it Arron looking after her, where were Mom and Dad. She was grateful for the help sure, but still it was annoying, especially since the dreaded itching had faded with the absolutely excellent cream. She would have to learn how to make it some day. She sighed finally and went boneless on the couch, utterly relaxed. Her eyes drifted shut as he continued to rub the cream on any new blisters.

Arron smiled to himself, poor little princess. She was almost cute with her eyes closed like that. He finished up and reported to his mother before coming back to make sure she didn't blow up like a puff fish. They had a strange relationship, she was the most annoying thing on earth some days. Her brother was a sweetheart who adored Arron. Ruulu seemed to like Mom and was obsessed with Dad. He wasn't sure what she felt for the no nonsense Arron or the even more no nonsense Volka. She was so feisty. So young. Whatever she set her mind to she went at with all of her energy. A devious, crafty, plotty mind backed by a hyperactive metabolism. Something thankfully that seemed to have skipped him and his other siblings. Ruulu however had caught it. He was surprised she was so still on the couch but that could be to avoid more itches.

Ruulu slitted her eyes at her brother, hopefully no green would peek through her lashes. She would wait for the opportune moment, his head would turn slightly there! She reached out and smeared some stolen goop right on his pointy nose. Giggling hysterically the whole house now knew that she had gotten somebody with one of her harmless little pranks. She expected her brother to turn red and explode but instead he simply flicked a blister gently and it started to itch horribly. Some time later when they were done rolling around on the floor wrestling, she informed him that she did not in fact know where his book was.

"You don't know where it is, so why did you lead me to believe that you had it?" He asked, utterly confused and the illogic she had displayed. Volka wouldn't have done that he was sure, but then she made a great deal more sense than did Ruulu. He was sure she wasn't adopted but sometimes the evidence to the contrary disturbed him. If she didn't have the book, then where was it? The question although less important now, still remained in his mind. He got up and went upstaris..sure enough where the cat was lying, was where the book was. The little imp had been right. He rolled his eyes and brought the book down to her.
