“Maybe you just need to find someone to date, Mom.”
When Millie said those words to her, Bellatrix couldn’t help but start laughing. It seemed like such a…such a strange idea. She didn’t…didn’t date. She kept thinking about it though, kept thinking about it for a few weeks until finally she decided to just throw caution to the winds and set up a profile on one of the many dating sites that were out there. It was one that didn’t look too…slutty. A place called MatchMe.com.
She chose one of the most flattering pictures of herself for the profile picture, taking the time to fix her hair into a style that showed off her face. It was getting so long now, well past her shoulders and beginning to curl at the ends…a sure sign that she should get it cut, but…she was enjoying having it long.
It took another few days for her to gather up the courage and actually check through the list of messages that she had, and when she looked…and saw that there were over fifty…well. Bellatrix didn’t know what to do about that.
That was just far too many to sort through. Though, when she did, it was mostly to weed out those who were just looking for…hookups and the like. She had no interest in those.
It was another month or so later when someone actually caught her eye, a good looking man, a lawyer, who was right here in the city. He had the prettiest eyes that she had ever seen. A hazel color with flecks of teal in them and…
Well. For a long while she just stared at his picture, unable to actually…initiate contact.
Bellatrix had to really think about this before she went and tried to start dating. For one…would Millie really be okay with it if it turned into something more serious? Garethon had been utterly absent for years now and…she had been without a father for so long…what would bringing another man into the picture do? What if it caused her to start getting into even more dangerous situations? As it was, Bellatrix herself never powered up anymore…Caelian had been absent from the city for longer than she cared to admit…
Finally she opened up the link to send a message to this Rob, and was absolutely lost for what to say. This was so hard. Too hard, even.
The link sat open on her computer for a good week or so before she finally sent a message. And then things sped up. The date was set. They were going on a date. She was going on a date.
Even though…she kind of wanted to back out, it was far too late to do so. Even if she did manage to find a good enough excuse…who would want to piss off a lawyer? That just seemed like a stupid thing to do. She was done doing stupid things…and maybe now she was done hiding and letting life pass by…
Millie had a boyfriend…and why shouldn’t she think about starting to date too?
She deserved to be happy, didn’t she?
Maybe this would be the first step.
