Name: Vermina
Stage: Prentice
Race: Alkidike
Gender: Female

3 Base Traits: Dutiful, Harmonious, Vulnerable

Personality:
Dutiful
Takes very seriously her responsibility to help and to do the right thing, basing her ideas on traditions and laws and rules, holding the utmost respect for the Alkidike matriarchy. While she doesn’t see herself as a leader exactly, she does prefer holding some authority at home and at work for a bit of control. She uses her roles to keep things clear, stable and organized for everyone. She is the servant type of person, who enjoys making sure that those close to her, or really anyone in the tribes, are well cared for.

Harmonious
Vermina seeks harmony and care very much about other people’s feelings. She tends to tread carefully with her words, being careful not to offend or hurt those around her. She works well with others, and always seeks win-win situations in conflicts. She likes a stable and organized environment, keeping her home and work space clean and organized. She’s the stereotypical neighbor everyone wants; always with a pleasant smile and attentive ears. Of course, she doesn’t always do things just for keeping the status quo. She thoroughly enjoys playing around and having fun. Nothing warms her heart more than seeing her friends smile while doing something they all enjoy. Despite her desire for order, or because of it, Vermina is quite adaptable to surroundings to keep things flowing in a positive manner.

Vulnerable
Vermina has an unfortunate preoccupation with her social status. Being someone who just wants to be liked and appreciated, she can become very defensive and hurt if someone criticizes her. She ends to take things personally, unless the other person goes a bit out of their way to explain that she is not why they’re upset. As such, she will extend herself to help relieve whatever the trouble is in any way she can. She also needs nearly constant positive reinforcement to know she’s doing a good job. She is so eager to please that she’ll often put her own needs aside to make sure her sisters and friends are cared for.

History:
As a youngling, Vermina lived in a sea of prejudice. Her mother, Pil, was of the mindset that the Alkidikes were the superior race, and should be the master race, and made her view well known. Pil was stubborn and passionate, and insisted on teaching her daughter those very ideals. Despite Pil’s pressure, Vermina never understood the notion. Yes, Alkidikes were superior, but that was no reason to shun the other races, right? It created a tense home environment, with the impassioned Pil trying to break through her daughter’s unseemly friendly attitude.

When unrest reached its peak on Chibale and in Jauhar, Pil rose with her sisters to fight the earthlings. Though she wanted her daughter to come along to see the fight, she know the youngling was not ready, and she reluctantly leaving young Vermina in the care of her sister, Pul. When news of the exile reached Chibale, Vermina begged to follow. She wanted to be with her mother! Pul wouldn’t hear of it though, knowing that her youngling niece was nothing like Pil, and would surely suffer if left in the hands of the extremist colony. Besides.. there was no guarantee that Pil was even still alive to be one of the exiles.

After a time, Vermina took her grief and turned it into action. After all, she was not the only one whose mother had gone to never return. There were others who needed care as well. She wasn’t old enough to care for anyone alone, but she had the desire to help. She became a filler of sorts, doing nearly anything that needed doing in the background. Side dishes at meals, cleaning laundry, stitching clothes... The world was chaotic after losing so many sisters, and she wanted to help bring order. Vermina opened up to the world in her own way, being as supportive and reliable and understanding as she could, finding herself fully supported by her aunt. After all, her mother had been stubborn and prideful.. and was now gone. Though she grieved, Vemina does not hold the results of the war against the earthlings. After all, Pil has always talked about striking first; surely the earthlings were only defending themselves... If she were to meet an earthling, she might ask why exile instead of simply sending the women home, but that was unlikely to happen anytime soon. Expanding ground was no drive of hers. Her place was in Chibale. Helping what they did have to flourish.. that was what she wanted.

Vermina still lives with her aunt today, and they work together to help keep the community strong. Sometimes, Vermina does think about her mother in more than just memories... Maybe she would go to Yeal to find out if her mother was alive? If anything, the exile had probably only made her mother and the others angrier though, making a visit a rather unsavory idea for the young prentice. She was loyal to her mother, of course, but there was nothing she could do now, for the time being.

Even though the extremist Alkidike were banished, the feelings of the Alkidike on Chibale are still that earthlings are below them. Since she has the utmost respect for the matriarchy, how does she justify her acceptance and friendliness toward earthlings? In the same regards, how does she feel about hybrids? And the elaria?

Is she careful not to offend anyone regardless of their background? Or just her Alkidike Sisters?

Does being so worried about how her Sisters see her and wanting to be accepted shape how she treats outsiders? Like I said, the alkidike still think that earthlings and outsiders are below them, and it sounds like she's overly friendly towards them, so how does this work into her being so concerned with how others see her? Being openly accepting of earthlings would probably give her a bad name in the community as someone who was soft and weak and an earthling-lover, so how does she deal with this?

She is not friendly with the earthlings. She just sees them as another creature living on Tendaji; like badgers or some other common predator that runs around. She is content staying on Chibale among her sisters, so she doesn't much concern herself with the outside world. She doesn't go around making a point of approving the earthlings. If the topic comes up, she would say something along the lines of how the earthlings really aren't important enough to worry about. In her eyes, the extremists stomped on a hornet nest which would naturally make the hornets fight back; there would have been no problem if they'd left well enough alone. She would rather spend time protecting their territory than wasting energy expanding into lands not fit for her kind. A live and let live sort of view, which is about as harmonious as she gets with earthlings.

And yes, she only cares what the other Alks think of her. Hybrids are gross and strange creatures to her. She sees the desire to be with an earthling as a strange fetish or "phase" that maybe they'll grow out of, and if they do choose to do it then they're just the local crazies unworthy of acknowledgement. Hybrid children will be avoided while those that decide to stay and take up an Alk path will earn a small bit of respect in a sense because they are honoring their Alk bloodlines, but she does not believe that they could ever compare to a pure.
As for the Elaria, she ranks them as a strange sort of hybrid, being born of soil that is not Aisha's pure Chibale soil. They do not look like pure alks and even go by a different name, so she will probably never accept them fully. If the earthlings are like badgers and pigs, the elaria are monkeys and dolphins; smart and funny, but still not comparable to Alks born of Aisha.
