[Oba] Moma's baby [Dovian/Phaedra] - FIN

Dovian was out helping his mom with her herbs for the morning and he loved it. Not only did it give him time with her but it was a relaxing thing to do. Mostly he got to run through the rows of plants and point out if he saw any that looked like they needed tending to. Sometimes he missed a few and his mother would point out how to spot it in the future. All in all he learned a lot while he played.

"Mommy I found another one." He piped at her. The little hybrid pointed to one of the more wilting plants that was in the dry dirt. "Is it dead?" Dovian was genuinely curious to know if the plant was a lost cause or if his mother could save it.

Phae had a smile on her face as she watched her son run through the garden plants. She hoped he would always be like this. So sweet and little. Of course that wouldn't happen.

When he said he found another plant that needed looked at she moved toward him and knelt down so that she could look at it. To her it just looked thirsty so she pulled her small bottle of water out and uncorked it. "No sweetie, it's not dead. We might be able to save it." Phaedra was no green thumb by any means but she did know how to take care of the herbs she grew for cooking purposes. "You want to hold the leaves back while I water it?" She asked softly. It was one way for her little one to help out.

Upon hearing that they might be able to save the plant he'd found he smiled and watched. Dovian quickly grabbed the leaves when his mother asked if he wanted to. "Of course!" He was helping in his own little way and it made him feel good.

"Why do you need to hold the leaves though?" He wondered aloud. Were they not supposed to get wet? And if not what about when it rained? Dovian knew it was a rare thing but it still happened. Is that maybe what made the plant sick to begin with? The little boy did his best to try and remember when the last time it rained was.

Her son's enthusiasm made her chuckle and once the leaves were out of the way she brought the bottle closer so that she could pour the water right where the roots were. "Hmn? Well it just helps me get the water as close to the base of the plant as possible. That is where the roots are and they need the water." Phaedra lifted her shoulders in a small shrug but her smile was still present.

"See how the leaves of the other plants stick out pretty far from the base? If the water rolls off them and onto the ground it won't reach the roots." She pointed with her free hand to show what she was talking about.

Once she was finished watering the plant she put the cork back in the bottle and nodded her head at Dovian so that he could let go of the leaves. "There. We'll just have to keep an eye on this one to make sure nothing else is wrong."

With the explanation that he received from his mother he nodded his own little head. Dovian now understood the reason behind moving the leaves out of the way. "Wow mommy, I didn't think of that." And he wasn't so sure that he would have either.

When it was all said and done he let go of the leaves and stepped back. Eyeing the wet dirt and the saggy plant he hoped that there was nothing else, more serious, wrong with it. Dovian wasn't sure what plant it was but he knew his mother used it for cooking and he loved her food. "Are we done with this one?" He looked up at his mother's face then to see if it was alright for him to go one and find the next one.

Her hand went out and pat him on the head as he said that he didn't think of the reason that she had had him hold the leaves. A lot of people wouldn't have thought of that but it didn't mean much. Phae chuckled and nodded her head as he seemed eager to move on to the next plant that needed tending to. "Yes Dov, we're all done with this one." She had shortened his name to the nickname that she used affectionately. "Are you off to find another?" She didn't think he would since his sister would likely be ready to play whatever game they usually had going but there were times when she was surprised.

He gave a large grin as he looked up at her then nodded his head emphatically. Dovian wanted to help his mother find another plant that needed tending to. So he turned and headed off down the row of herbs and searched.

The little boy made sure to keep a look out for those with wilting leaves or something more serious. By the time he was two thirds of the way down the row he neglected to see a rock in the way and tripped on it. His toes caught the edge and down he went. Dovian put his hands out in front of him to catch himself but that didn't help his poor toe or his knee. Both managed to get scraped and so, too, did the palms of his hands. "Ow!"

Pleased to know that he was staying to help she looked around as he took off. Her herbs were looking quite nice. Now if she could just keep them looking that way. Phaedra was no gardener and her crop was sub par compared to those who dealt in the stuff full time, but it sufficed for when she couldn't get to a large market to buy any.

Her long pointed ears caught the sound of her little one hitting the dirt and the subsequent "ow" that he yelled out and that was enough to make her turn to see what had happened. Instantly her green eyes widened. There was a bit of blood visible on his knee. Feeling her heart go up into her throat she rushed forward and dropped to the ground beside him. "Dovian! What happened? Does it hurt?" Frantically she searched the rest of him to assess how badly he'd gotten hurt.

by the time his mother got to him he had tears in his eyes. The pain stung at his open skin. Not to mention the dirt that was now in it. The part that bothered him the most was his toe. It had gotten the worst of it. Dovian looked at his mother with as brave and strong a face as he could muster but when she started to search him and ask questions the tears were set loose.

"Mommy! It hurts! It stings." He hissed and did his best to hug his knee to his chest without actually touching it since his palms were raw.

With that she frowned and gave him as gentle a hug as she could. "I'm sorry sweetie." Phae left her tools for tending the garden on the ground and scooped her little boy up into her arms. From there she stood and turned back toward their home. "We'll wash it off and take care of it okay?" She nodded her head, answering her own question.

The scrapes weren't deep but she knew as a kid they must feel like they were the end of everything. As he cried she coddled him. "Shush now, it's alright."

The hybrid boy got great comfort out of the hug from his mother and even more when she picked him up to carry him. That meant he wouldn't have to walk back to the house with his head held high. Of course if Shura saw him like this she'd pick on him for days. How his twin sister didn't cry when she got little scrapes was beyond him. They stung like crazy!

Dovian managed to nod his head along with his mother as she said they would take care of his boo-boos. "Am I gonna be okay?" He worried. As the easiest to scare he instantly thought of all the bad things that could happen.

Hearing her son ask if he was going to be okay made her smile at him. "Yes sweet one. Once we clean you up you will be fine." Phaedra thought it was sweet that her little boy was so soft. He worried endlessly and was definitely a moma's boy.

Hugging him more tightly to her she nuzzled his head with her own. "Don't worry. Your dad and I would never let anything happen to you or your sister." Pressing a kiss to his hair she used her hip to push the door to their home open.

Cuddled up to his mom he nodded his head again, this time the tears had stopped and were drying on his chubby cheeks. "Okay..." Dovian sniffled and waited as they made their way through the house. In the kitchen he was sat down and he couldn't help but scoot a little so that he wouldn't fall off his seat. His own green eyes watching every move his mother made so that he knew what to expect next. There was a very real fear in him that he might need stitches.

After putting her baby down she moved over to get a bowl of water and a rag. Phaedra needed to clean off his palms and knee before she could put any salve on them. Depending on how bad they were they might even need wrapped up to keep Dovian from picking at them. The toe on the other hand she knew needed to be wrapped. Mostly so it didn't get dirt in it from walking.

She moved as quickly as she could without seeming panicked. If she were to do that then it would make it worse for her son. So Phae made sure to exude a clam exterior while she freaked out in the inside.

As he watched her like a hawk he made sure she wasn't grabbing anything that might look too serious. Water and a rag were fine. Even the wrappings were okay. Anything beyond that and he would start to sweat a little. "Is that all you need?" Dovian was doing his best to keep his tone even but it cracked a little and rose in pitch.

"You don't need a needle or anything right mommy?" Now he was leaning to the side and trying to see what else she grabbed.
