While Penelope Rey was in the business of being spoiled, it wasn't often that she spoiled herself. So, she had decided that since she'd finished her school work early and completed yet another successful steamy fanfic for her followers, she was allowed to go shopping. Part of her wished that she had roped her brother into going with her, if only to carry her bags so she wouldn't have to but then she would have had to bribe him with something and well.

She was still a bit miffed over the Kari thing, especially since her sightings of the brunette had been few and far between even after the girl had professed her love.

As far as the blonde was concerned, retail therapy was a marvelous thing and she had some spare funds due to a particularly good story sale. There was a newish clothing place she'd been dying to check out for a while now and since she had her entire afternoon free, she figured why not.

Stepping into the store, blue eyes drifted across the displays and racks of clothing, a perfectly manicure finger tapping against her chin as she tried to decide if yes, this was her kind of store or no, she should leave. OR, most importantly, perhaps, where should she start first.

Retail was not, precisely, a faucet of the fashion business that Trey favored terribly much. It brought in money and showcased designs, helped them find customers and get a feel for what people wanted... but it was the people that he didn't much care for.

Not because people were bad... but it was a bit exhausting to interface directly with customers for long periods, especially the entitled ladies that tended to come into a high-end, designer boutique. Too bad Mother didn't much care how he felt about it, if god forbid it was anything but happy to be serving them.

The opening of the fancy new boutique in the shopping district had meant all hands on deck, so pleased or not, the young man was here to pull his weight and flirt his a** off, because charmed ladies meant higher sales and higher sales meant a happy Joellen Faure-Cameron. A happy Joellen meant a less critical eye when he did slip off, so a little song and dance now would pay dividends later.

The electric bing-bong of the motion-detector bell at the wide-open front doors drew the young man's attention and blue eyes swung to take in a young blonde in a trendy outfit. His smile was immediate and well-practiced, sliding smoothly into place as he sidled around a settee and made his way to the front.

"Welcome to Viennent Du Coeur, Miss!" He called out as he approached, sweeping a hand towards the tastefully arranged racks of clothes and the women perusing them. The french rolled easily off his tongue. "I'm Trey. Are you looking for anything in particular that I could help you with? We have a purse over there that would go amazingly well with those shoes."

While Penelope figured that she could work the store as she needed alone, there was a certain amount of relief that came with the approach of someone who worked there. It helped, certainly, to see that the man was handsome and eager to assist, even if it was an act.

Smiling pleasantly, the blonde lifted a hand and waggled fingers at him to pair with her cheerful, "Hello!" Pen figured that it was better, easier at least, to play cheerful until she got a better read on the man that was now in her company. "It's a pleasure," she offered her hand in greeting because it seemed proper for now. "My name in Penelope."

Blue eyes stayed on his face for longer than necessary before flicking down to her shoes as he mentioned them. "You know, I have been looking for a new purse. Why don't you show me, Trey you said?"

Trey's eyes crinkled, just a little at the corners, and he accepted the hand she extended into a warm grip, his head bowed over it.

"Penelope, its a pleasure to have you visit our store." He released her hand and used the same one to extend toward the wall of geometic shelving, the diamond shapes framing this season's bags with little halos of light from a recess above each. He noted the way he seemed to stare at him, but when she seemed polite and gracious, he brushed it aside as a quirk. Its not like he had to know why she did it... he was helping her spend her money and their relationship would end at the door, as far as he was concerned.

"Yes. Trey Cameron. My mother is the owner and premier design for this shop." He said as he led her across the room in a loose and easy stride carefully measured so she didn't have to stretch to keep up, even with his height. A hand smoothed down the neat vest he wore over a crisp white shirt before he extended it to wave at the display. There was a variety of shapes and sizes, though colors tended to favor pastel and 'vintage' colors, bright metal accents catching the light and soft silk scarves decorating straps along side soft furry pompoms.

"Do you prefer a lot of space in a bag, or something more sleek?" He said as he approached the wall, stretching up to snag something off one of the shelves. He held it by the straps and a hand under the base as he displayed it for her. "We use faux leather in all of our leather products these days. This one has some eye-catching stitching in the interior color. The straps are perfect for over a shoulder."

The display was easy and polished. He'd done this same thing so many times. Taking a quick read of a customer, guessing at their needs from what he saw and what they gave away. This one seemed pleasant and energetic, and she obviously knew how to dress herself to some degree. It was still hard to say where her tastes lay... but the little puzzle of it was at least enjoyable.

Blue eyes followed the sweep of Trey's hand, taking in everything that he was gesturing to while also watching his face. As he talked, it was clear that the blonde was listening, with interest, to everything that he said.

"I have to say it's a pleasure to meet you Trey," she nearly purred, scaling back just enough that there was a flirty edge but nothing too heavy. "I'm looking for something more sleek. I travel rather light, but I do need space for a medium sized journal." Alkaid's assignment was a priority and she sought to keep the book with her at all times if she could.

Her current bags weren't as well suited for the purpose as she would like. "Something easy to carry and doesn't require five minutes of digging every time I want to retrieve something."

Expectantly, she reached out her hand to be offered the bag he was speaking of. Penelope was a picky woman, because she often knew exactly what she was looking for. Simply being shown wouldn't do.

The bag was surrendered as she reached and he smiled through the flirtation, absorbing it and returning it with the warmth in his eyes.

"The pleasure is mine. Sleek, but accommodating, hmm?" He said, amusement in his voice. A long finger extended and he tapped his chin as he left her to the bag in her hands and swept his eyes over the shelves. This season seemed to favor larger bags with loops over the arm, rather than a strap for the shoulder.

If she travels light and doesn't like the trouble of digging, then maybe something with a shoulder strap would be good. Divided compartments... yes.

"Ah..." Trey hummed as he stepped to the side and slid something out of it's compartment. Fawn colored, the leather strap over the shoulder connected to the body with dark colored chains, and more draped artfully across the front. The flap over the top, when he drew it back to show her, showed two compartments, the front small and slim enough for a journal like she described. It was decently shallow, which he supposed she might like.

"I have this, as one possibility. Do you have a sort of look you like? A color?"

The purse was everything that Trey was saying it to be. Careful fingers ran along the sides, testing the material and if she liked it beneath her fingertips. Still, even as her attention appeared to be on the purse, she was actually paying careful attention to everything the man was doing.

A new choice was plucked and shown and Penelope regarded it with the same care she regarded the first.

She liked the two compartments and she appreciated the longer strap, which would put it at her hip level which made for ease of access. Pen didn't voice it, but she pleasantly surprised at the level of care her shopman was showing.

"Mint is my color but something more neutral is acceptable." Blue eyes studied the color of the one that he provided her with. "Something like that is fine, or black." Black, in her opinion, paired with her favorite color more than tans and browns.

Mint... not a bad color choice and not entirely out of fashion or season. Colors were running to the pastels and vintage palettes. 'Millenial Pink', for example. They had a few items in that dusty shade of pink, but, sadly, nothing in quite the mint range. Periwinkle, yes, but not quite mint.

Trey pursed his lips in thought, a tilt of his head betraying his distraction as he mentally browsed their inventory.

"I don't have anything in mint just now, but we might be getting some color variants in a couple weeks. But I do have black, which always classic, and charcoal. I actually have that one..." He said, sweeping his hand at the bag she held. "In charcoal. Would you like to see it, give it a try on?"

Attentiveness was easy when the crowds in the store were low, as they were now. He could afford to spend a little extra time helping a potential customer out, and it paid off more often than not with repeat visits. He knew a couple of older ladies by first names and he strongly suspected a good number came in just to flirt with him. Nothing he couldn't handle, and worthwhile for the purchases they made.

"Its at a very good price, and well worth it for the attention to detail and the quality of the construction. We, of course, offer limited warranties on all our products, in the event any of the stitching should come apart or the hardware break. A happy customer is worth far more than a little repair work."

Penelope considered his suggestions, watching as he did a mental inventory of what was available and what was not, before waving her hand. "Charcoal is perfect," she assured him. It wasn't her color, but it was perfect enough for her needs and he was right, with few exception it would go with just about every outfit she could create.

"I'll take it." Penelope was amicable enough and knew that she was capable of sweet talking her way through any future disputes or issues if they arose. For now, she had a successful day and now had her eye on someone new, a potential person of interest.

"I'll be sure to return, to see what other collections you have to over in the future." The statement was unnecessary, but she felt like saying it anyway. Flattery never hurt when there was a bit of truth to it.

In the end, she paid for her new purse and was overall pleased with the shopping trip. She'd find out if it did fit Alkaid's notebook when she got home but she'd worry about it later.
