It felt rather pointless lately, Lawrence found. It was one thing to take pride in your work and know that you were working towards something, some end point that was attainable, but with the impossible amount of debt and the situation he found himself in, work seemed like a fruitless endeavour. If he'd been out in the world he could have found ways to make money, used his brain to earn his way back up and to wriggle out of his debt, here everything was cameras rules and restrictions, there was no way out and no chance he'd even live long enough to see it paid off.
It was a fairly depressing thought, and it might have been too much for someone who cared about things more intensely. Lawrence didn't, he simply felt the lack of motivation that came with the burden of debt, the lack of ambition and desire. Sometimes it was tempting to simply not get up out of bed, to just stay there and see what worse they could do to him than this. He could think of little else but the money, but what he owed.
He'd had a keen interest in the infirmary, finding joy in the mundane and repetitive, revelling in simple things like stitches and monitoring vitals. It was less these days, because what exactly was the point if none of this was worth anything?
He'd done his rounds of the rooms for the day and was sitting in one of the larger offices writing up the day's information, but his heart more than usual wasn't in it and it was taking for ever.

When the breakroom was full, and the front desk was inhabited by on duty hunters, there just weren't that many places available where one could sit in peace and work to get their daily paperwork in order. One such place, a large office tucked out of the way, was his preferred, but apparently he wasn't the only one. For a moment he lingered in the doorway, pale eyes on the back of Lawrence's blonde head. He could take his work back to his room, get it done there, but then he'd have to come all the way back. He really didn't feel like doing that, and besides, where was the fun? Drama followed the one handed Life like a shadow. Leaving now might allow Zeke to avoid it, but since when had that ever been in his nature. So he cleared his throats as he came in and dropped his case load on an empty desk before sinking into a chair.

Lawrence glanced over when someone else entered the room, even in the middle of what he was doing alert enough to danger that someone wandering in was a risk. "Hello." he said convivially, inclining his head a little. He looked Zeke over in a little sidelong glance.
"Having a tolerable day?"

Zeke rolled his shoulders in a small shrug, though a rather easy smile was sitting on his lips as he turned to glance back at Lawrence. "Always," and he genuinely seemed to meet that. "Yourself?"

"Certainly tolerable, I would prefer if it was enjoyable. Life is always too complex for that unfortunately." he smirked.
"Seems like the organisation is up to something, been a higher number of casualties lately than I'd normally expect. Potentially horsemen movement?"
he shrugged. "I don't ask many questions I suppose, questions usually come with more work, and unpaid I'm never very inclined to do more than I need to."

Zeke gave an amused little sound as he opened one of the folders he'd been carrying. "It's the complexity of life that makes it enjoyable." At least it was in Zeke's experience. He abhorred mediocrity, choosing instead to surround himself with electric, vivacious, and unpredictable companions. It was why he picked and poked at the people around him. Why he spent so much time with his nose buried in the books in the library. The more he saw, the more he learned, the more he experienced, the better. He clicked his pen open, jotting a few things down as he considered the other hunter's speculation. "Maybe. I'm not surprised, though. It's been quiet for a long time, it was bound to go tits up sooner or later.

Lawrence nodded. "I can agree with that much." he said, though for him it wasn't really enjoyable, simply more tolerable with entertainment to make it go more quickly. "People are fascinating on the whole, emotions are facinating."
He did however raise a brow suspiciously at the note taking, seeming to immediately fall quiet.
Lawrence didn't like therapists, or people who behaved like them. He felt like he was being judged and held to account and it didn't agree with him.

A closer look would show a patient chart resting on top of the notebook, and the tip of his pen resting on that, rather than the already full page of notes beneath it. An even closer look would show the actual note page heavy with words like Fear, and marine life. "Fascinating is a good word for it." He wrinkled his nose as a thought came to mind. "They can also be really annoying."

"The main sort of emotions I find annoying are those that emanate from teenagers who think they are in love. I've known a few." he twisted his lips in a little smile. "But I prefer anything at all to nothing at all."
He glanced over the notebook and the notes but did not look too close. "Busy, I take it?" he asked.

He thought about that for a minute, then gave a small shrug/nod combo. "I'll agree with that." He looked down at the notes in his hand as they were mentioned. "Almost always. IF I'm not working in the infirmary, I'm doing paperwork for it, or working on my own research project for specialization."
