For reasons unknown, even to herself, Orcus had mirrorwalked to Leto's old training ground in mirrorwalking. No one would bother her up here and the only people capable of getting here were other dark mirrors. Therefore, it was not only safe, but a decent place to try and give herself a bit of a workout.
Unpalatable as the thought might be.
Still, it gave her something to do, even if that something wasn't all that stimulating mentally. With a sigh, she pushed herself to her feet and studied the array of mirrors. The best she could hope for would be to not pass out from sheer tedium.

Leto had led Acubens to her personal training grounds once, and Acubens had not found time to be back since. She figured now, since she had healed sufficiently from the attack of the giant ring wraith, was as good a time as any to take training back up. She had to make a note to bring Remarque here so that they could train together. The idea of spending quality time with the man she had forced to be her new brother made her smile. Not that he minded, she figured. If he did, he would have let her know. She passed through mirrorspace like she was gliding through water, very aware of where she wanted to go. However, she wasn't alone. She stepped from the mirror and noticed a pale-haired young woman considering the grounds as well. Another dark mirror... Acubens had never seen her before. Not a super high bar, Acubens chided herself. She had done a pitiful job of getting to know her court. "Hey there," she called warmly. "Come up here to sharpen your skills a little bit?"

Only the fact that she'd seen the other girl come through one of the mirrors kept Orcus from yelping and diving for the nearest bolthole. Still, she couldn't help how her heart sped up. But that was easy enough to hide behind a lazy demeanor. Keeping her eyes trained on the mirror before her, she nodded and gave a little shrug.
"It's something to do at any rate," she replied. And if her voice wasn't as warm as the other girl's, well...? Orcus would have been the first to admit that warm and welcoming had never been her thing.
After a moment, she turned and studied the other girl through slightly narrowed eyes. Not someone she recognized, which could be good or bad. Time would tell. It always did.
"Hey there, yourself."

It had been a long time since someone of her own kind had treated Acubens with such distrust. She couldn't say that she blamed this girl, but that didn't also mean that it didn't hurt. Still, she kept her expression and body language as open as possible to counteract the narrowed eyes. Carefully, so as not to spook the other senshi away from her, Acubens advanced one or two steps. "I'm Acubens," she began slowly, "I'm here for a little self-led physical therapy..." She laughed at her own lame joke and mussed her mess of red curls. While Remarque was here with her, she noted, she would have to ask him how he made such easy small talk. "But, hand to hand is always more genuine training than fighting shades, right? Since we're both here, what do you say we make some good use of our time!"

Fighting the urge to bare her teeth and move away, Orcus stood her ground as Acubens moved closer. Wonderful. One of those types who thought invading personal space was a signpost of sincerity, probably. Still, at least she didn't seem to expect a handshake. That was something at least.
This is what I get for complaining to myself about being bored, she thought. A too friendly stranger. WELP.
"Orcus," she answered as politely as she could. And the puzzled look that flickered across her face was certainly genuine as she asked, "Why would I ever want to fight shades? I don't need the damn things deciding one day to go rogue and steal my energy."
Then, the puzzlement was gone and replaced by a dry humor.
"I can think of plenty of good uses of my time, but you're not at all my type. Still," she continued in the same dry tone, "I suppose a good fight would help me shake off some boredom."
She wasn't sure how she felt about her fellow dark mirror, but she could see the potential for a good brawl as they stood surrounded by mirrors.

Not my type? Acubens blinked a few times before she realized that she'd missed the joke. Oh dear. Yep, this was just about as good as the rest of her interactions usually went. God damn why, of all traits, did her crippling awkwardness have to carry over from her days as a white moon senshi? So much of her personality had been rewritten, either from her corruption or out of necessity... why couldn't she be good at talking to someone else? Ah well, complaining about it wasn't going to make a difference. Practicing was. She tried on the easy smile that she had learned from Remarque and leaned hard on one leg, popping out that hip. "Do you want to use magic, or keep it hand to hand," she laced her voice with the practiced calm she'd lifted from Leto, "either way I'm fine... what do you want to practice?"

Rather than answer in words, Orcus chose actions. Outside of her beloved community theater, she had very little use for theatrics and the too calm voice, smile and popped hip all screamed of theatrics to her. Besides, she was going to have to rely on actions once she faced Alodie again. Might as well get used to that fact now.
Moving quickly, she swung her knee up and around, aiming for the hip. It was a cheap blow, but it would at least get things moving.

Having expected an answer with words rather than action, Acubens was taken more than a little off guard by the sudden attack. It wasn't that she didn't see the attack coming, she did. But with her center of balance out of whack, the wide kick tossed her to the side, recovering with a roll to return to her feet. Alright then, no magic. That suited Acubens just fine. "You know, you really should keep your attacks tight to your body. Just because it hit didn't mean that I didn't see it coming," she goaded, weaving left and right as she closed the distance between them. From the waist, as Jett had shown her so long ago, Acubens launched her own attack, aiming for the soft midsection of her opponent. If she could stun her opponent, maybe get them to double over, a swift elbow to the back would put her on the ground, which would give Acubens the match before it had even begun.
