It had been a while ago and so much had happened since. It still bothered her though. Lawr knew, of course he knew. Despite the falling out though, there was no perceived risk with him. Jordan though... she just didn't know Jordan well enough, or at all, honestly. He hadn't said anything, nor acknowledged the tiny elephant in the room. She knows he saw. There was no not seeing. Yet he remains silent. Was he saving that information, or just so uncomfortable he couldn't acknowledge it was a thing? Well Jordan, it was a thing, a thing that needed to be discussed before she could ever relax again.

A simple white envelope. Jordan would find it resting on his work station one day, his own name written in carefully calligraphed ink. The handwriting was unfamiliar yet the contents of the writing seemed personal. It stated; "We need to talk in private. Meet me at your room at 6:00 PM tonight." True to the letter, Melody showed up at Jordan's bedroom, anxiously looking to make sure no one saw her. They might already know. She tried not to draw that conclusion. She knocked.

The letter was slightly alarming, because Jordan had absolutely no idea what the writer of the letter meant by it. We need to talk was always worrisome, and not knowing who wanted to talk about something made the matter either confusing or ominous. Maybe both.
He made sure to be in his apartment at 6, out of both concern and curiosity. When someone knocked, he opened the door, only to blink at the girl who stood there. Did he know her? She was familiar -- oh yeah, the jungle mission, some time back. "Uh, hi," he said. "Melody, right?"

"Yeah," her voice was almost a small squeak as anxiety and uncertainty about this situation ramped up her adrenaline. She didn't really know how to start so she just... "May I come in?"

"Sure," Jordan said, and stepped back to let Melody in, closing the door behind her. "I assume you're the one who left me the note?" It was even more of a mystery as to what she might have to talk about to him now. They'd only been on one mission together, and while he'd had a couple of glimpses of her around the island since then, they hadn't talked.

"Yes." She stood by, fidgeting with the skirt of the backless number she decided to wear tonight.
"I just... look," she looked down as she started to feel the anxiety building and coiling upon itself like a spring. Slowly winding around and around.
"I just want to know what your intentions are."

"My -- my intentions?" Jordan asked blankly. "In relation to what?" Whatever this was was clearly making her very nervous, and he still was coming up empty as to what this discussion was about.

The clarification was met with a puzzled stare for a few more moments as Jordan tried to remember what Melody might be referring to that she wouldn't come out and say directly and would be concerned in some way about his intentions. Then he remembered a detail that he'd noticed and then mostly forgotten about in the subsequent chaos of the battle and retreat. "Oh, uh. In the infirmary?" he asked.

"Yes, of course the infirmary," she carefully crossed her arms. Not thinking for even a second that he might not have seen - let alone forgotten. "I know you saw it."

"Sorry," Jordan said. "It was an emergency situation; I wasn't trying to look. If you're referring to what I think you're referring to, well, I figure that's really none of my business."

"I think I am?," she pointed because his reaction was really confusing if they were talking about the same thing - just to be clear.

She was stunned into speechlessness for a moment. Her thoughts genuinely struggling to comprehend this. Nope. This made no sense. None at all.
She squinted suspiciously at Jordan. "You honestly expect me to believe that? What's your angle? Lull me into a false sense of security then ask a favor later? Blackmail?"

Jordan raised an eyebrow at her and tucked his hands into his pockets. "Why would I do that? I don't have any reason to want to blackmail you, and if I wanted a favor I'd just ask. It's not any of my business, nor is it anyone else's business except yours and whoever you date, and that last part's not my responsibility to inform."
