( backdated to before Pandora's Box )
He wasn't entirely sure what was going on.
The past few weeks had been...well, not distant exactly, though Magiore could have used that word, possibly. It was more like Durumi kept...disappearing - was that even a better word? He wasn't sure of that, either. What he did know was that over the course of the last little while, she had sometimes not returned for long periods of time periods of time that had led to worry and confusion and a lot of other emotions that Magiore had tried to be reasonable about.
It was hard to be reasonable when there was a war happening, but Durumi was not reckless. She knew how to handle things.
But still. The house, in all of its beautiful, old glory, felt too big and too empty without her, Durumi's presence a stark and obvious thing when Magiore was there on his own. His footsteps echoed. He could hear the slightest creak of a floorboard.
He couldn't stand the silence after a while, and his last message to her - sometime around seven this evening - had yet to be answered. Magiore gave up on trying to read and finally tossed his book aside, slipping from the house and heading into the city.
Maybe as Aurostibite, he'd be able to find her, he thought, as he powered up near a side street. No auras yet, Chaos or otherwise, but maybe all he needed was to search a bit more.

Durumi had been disappearing more often then not as of late. Mirrorspace had many places for her to find, and to explore. though it was ever changing, she could still make out certain area's that were important. Certain areas that were repetive.
She didn't remember when had gone into mirrorspace, but it had been light out. When she had returned, it was dark and the stars twinkled on the spring evening. Though it wasn't warm out, it wasn't chilly either. The baby doll transparent cloth of her uniform fluttered around her as she exited out of one the many mirrors in the city. Fresh air, the scent of cherry blossoms.
She was almost sad that she had probably missed such a beautiful day for her. She was not at the mirror that she had left her purse with her cellphone, so she'd have to backtrack to find it again. There was a blip of a strong chaos aura on her senses, but she chose to avoid it, in favor of not being attacked by a negaverse agent. She didn't think Damocles, Remarque or Tantalus were out patrolling either.

It was a good night for this. Spring was drawing ever closer, which meant that the weather was accommodating and Aurostbite's layers of uniform without it being too stiflingly hot or too frigidly cold. A gentle breeze was rifling through the air, bringing with it the faintest scent of possible rain, though it was likely too far off to be an actual downpour.
Aurostibite took several steps down a lamp lit street, and then stopped, his frown deepening, eyes narrowed ever so slightly. He thought of calling for Behellagh from the Rift, but she'd almost been dusted the last time he'd been in battle, so he decided against it.
But he thought he felt -
There.
Not close, really, but close enough for him to recognize the power signature as Chaotic. Aurostibite followed the direction of it, trying to sift out whether it was more north or northeast; there was no way of telling whose signature it was, but it was better than nothing, at least.
Besides, he thought, as he teleported from one street to two streets over, hair cascading down his back; he could at least talk to whomever it was.

Aura's were a fickle way of finding someone, and while Mintaka was actively attempting to avoid it, it seemed to be moving closer to her. She didn't like to assume that she could tell the difference of chaotic energy, but she knew when one was nega and one was DMC. She was a eternal senshi herself, so it wasn't like she wouldn't be able to hold her own, should the general pursue her in fighting.
She almost moved again, attempting to find a mirror to just shift into when the aura jumped to close to her (Damn their teleportation, a skill she wished that she had as well). It didn't cross her mind that it could be her lover, but perhaps it was because she assumed that Magiore was at home, resting.
Perhaps it was Umber, as she hadn't seen the general in a very long time. Either way, she was not going to out run them for long. She chose a advantageous position between two buildings, where the only entrance was to dive right in. If that was the case, she held up her hand as she tried to blend into whatever shadows she could, summoning the paper crane of the beginning of her magic, then whoever was pursuing her would be in for one rough surprise.

The closer he got, the closer he thought he could, at the very least, ascertain whether it was another agent or one of the Dark Mirrors. Heaven knew Aurostibite had spent enough time around Mintaka to know which was which - but it also meant that there was a slightly higher possibility that it could be who he was looking for.
Or it could simply be someone else entirely, just out patrolling, as they all did when night fell.
Aurostibite reached the end of the street and turned down another, his expression intent. Both blades were summoned, the scalloped edges gleaming silver in the dim overhead lights of the street lamps. He paced down a few steps, glancing from one building to the next, eyes trying to pick through the darkness to figure out who was there.
The signature was stronger, which meant that he was getting closer. Aurostibite slowed his pace.
Come out, come out, wherever you are, he thought.

As the two aura's collided, and Mintaka saw the flash of weapon, she moved as quick as she could, preparing her crane for the magic.
Luckily, as she pulled it back, she caught the glimmer of a very familiar General and she faltered in her steps.
"Hello Love." She corrected her position, as if she didn't just try to get the jump on him. "Fancy meeting you here." She smiled softly at him, seriously, like she hadn't tried to get the jump on him.
"I thought you were at home?"

At the movement to his left, Aurostibite's arms immediately went up in a slide of metal and a glint of silver, his posture a defensive one, rather than an offensive, the blades crossed over his chest protectively. He'd bent slightly, gaze narrowed into the darkness.
But the figure that stepped out was not an enemy.
"Mintaka," said Aurostibite, and the tone of his voice was a mixture of surprise and relief, emotions sinking in where, if it had been anyone else, they would have been restrained. He lowered his arms and straightened, one of the blades disappearing back into the pocket of Negaspace where it was kept, and stepped towards her.
He reached out, gloved fingers pressing gently to her cheek, and bent to kiss her in instinctive greeting before leaning away again, a slight frown on his lips.
"I was at home," said Aurostibite truthfully. "But I hadn't heard from you all evening. I was worried."
He glanced around at the city lights surrounding them, the darkened street, then back to her once more.
"You're all right, aren't you? What are you doing out here?"

The crane disappeared from her hand, and she lifted her head to receive his kiss. She was a bit wary of the surprise on his face, though it was cause she wasn't sure why he seemed displeased.
Though, uh, she could've probably messaged him. Did he know she went into mirrorspace? Did she tell him? She wasn't sure. Gosh she forgot things more often now.
"Oh, I'm really sorry love." She reached up to pet his cheek, "I was in mirrorspace, I got a bit lost is all." She looked a bit tired, but she leaned into him. "Have you had much luck tonight? Are you out to find more recruits or such?"

Her hand on his cheek made his lashes flutter, eyes lowering to rest on hers. There were few - very few - people who saw Aurostibite without the stoic mask that he wore consistently throughout his time in the Negaverse, and Mintaka was one of them, his sister the other.
Mintaka was the only one who saw everything.
There was a little bit of relief on his face as Mintaka leaned into him, and Aurostibite slid his arm around her waist, bending to kiss the top of her head. "I just wasn't sure where to find you, is all. But I'm glad that you're all right."
He shook his head. "I was at home; I came out to look for you, there hasn't been much activity out as of late. Were you doing anything in particular in Mirrorspace?"

"I'm sorry again Love." She whispered, "I should've told you. Sometimes I forget that war is about us all the time." The dark mirrors mostly went unnoticed after all, in the war. She was free to move both sides how she wanted, though she preferred to stay away from order.
"Mapping the area." She laughed, a bit bitterly. "Mirrorspace is to big for me to really find an actual...map like sequence to it. There's some places we can't go though, sometimes we get pushed back..." Her eyes looked away from him, staring a bit into the distance though her thoughts were even farther away. "Sometimes it calls deeper to us in there." Sometimes she felt it, whispering at her when she went in.
The silence weighed, as she was lost in the whisperings of mirrorspace again. Like a drug.

He gave a small shake of his head. "It's all right, I understand." And he did, even with the gnawing feeling of worry that was always persistent in his heart when it came to Mintaka. He had seen her get kidnapped twice now; he wasn't about to let that happen again.
"I assume Mirrorspace is endless, like Negaspace?" Aurostibite asked, glancing down at her. But her eyes were distant, unfocused; she seemed not to be looking at him, or at anywhere else, gaze far off as though she was - listening? Thinking? It was hard to tell.
His arm tightened just a little around her.
"It...speaks to you?" Aurostibite asked cautiously. "Mirrorspace?"

"Endless. Expansive. It holds some secrets. Like a pandora's box." She continued to talk distantly, and she didn't notice that he was tightening his hold on her. "It's waiting for me to open it up. It keeps calling me."
She blinked and like it never happened, she brought her hand up to her forehead. "I'm sorry, I must be tired. What were we talking about again?" Her gaze came back to his and she smiled softly at him.
"Maybe we should return home?"

Like a Pandora's Box.
He knew the story, of course. He knew the myth that stemmed behind the box of Pandora, that to open it would cause the greatest suffering to happen. Aurostibite did not want that to occur, did not want to think of Mirrospace as a ticking time bomb where Mintaka went to spend her hours.
The way she was speaking was distant. His eyes fell on hers, on the far off expression on her face, and something in Aurostibite's chest tightened. He opened his mouth to speak, to perhaps ask what had happened - but then he closed it again.
It keeps calling me.
It's waiting for me to open it up.
Aurostibite lifted a hand, gently brushing stray strands of hair away from Mintaka's forehead in a tender gesture.
"We can," he said quietly. "Are you sure you're all right?"
