Raeka was taking a break, finally, from her work on the flying machine. After a full evening and day of working nearly non stop (she did take a few naps when the others were around to help), they seemed to be in the clear and ready to head home. Their mission was a success, if with a few hiccups, and she was anxious to return home and hopefully begin the next steps in her journey - to join the Academy.
Moving through the area, with her hair and dark skin visable to gawking eyes, she took a moment to really explore the new lands and their culture. Most seemed to be packing up, ready to either go home or possibly travel across the sea. Others lingered, finding a newcomer to talk to or examine. Or maybe they were being examined. The blue skinned creatures were especially fascinating, and if Raeka were a different sort of scientist, she might be keen to talk to them too.
Instead, she was simply keen to head to some of the few lingering vendors and get some more of the warm food they offered.

Most of the teas had already been packed up; they only served now what they knew would not make the journey back home. While her mother took care of the packing and at incredibly slow pace, Cassia sat on a tall stool behind their stand. She waited for passers to stop and try a sampling. Other times, she called out to them when she had the courage to do so.
Now though, Cassia had her eyes on someone. She could not fully determine what the race of the girl was but it looked mixed and from the new island of Belrea. Cassia wanted to visit one day, see what kind of plants they held that could be used for tea. So, as the girl made her way over, Cassia tried to bolster her courage enough to call out to her. Even as the girl neared and walked on by, Cassia remained silent until finally she spoke up a little louder. “Interested in some tea samples?”
The girl had already passed though and she dind’t know if she’d stop.

Raeka had her eyes on a swivel, her nose lifted and smelling the new scents of meats, teas, and ales. It was a mix that she never really experienced before, so fascinating and overwhelming. Her stomach rumbled and she wondered just what type of currency they would take. Maybe she could offer some bronze cogs, they didn't seem to have those and they weren't too expensive.
As she considered the option, a voice spoke up from behind. Bright eyes wide, she turned around and tried to cover a yawn, glancing about to see who might have called out to her. Tea? Sounded like a great start and she was able to conclude that the girl in the booth with the tea supplies and markings was the one who called out.
Even if it wasn't directed to her, Raeka took the step and wandered over, a bright smile shining across her dark skin as her speckled eyes glanced all about the booth.
"I'm interested in pretty much everything on this land...so sure, I would love to try out some of your samples!"

Cassia was a little taken aback by the girls seemingly exuberant personality and perhaps a small part of her had wished thst the girl hadn't heard her at all. Still though, Cassia offered her a small shy smile before nodding her head.
"We have a lot of tea selections from all around but our best stock is from Tale of course."
Taking one of the mini cups they used as samples, Cassia extended it towards the girl. "This one is a spicy flower mix."

"Tale..." Raeka echoed, humming as if she understood but really she didn't. They had no idea what the world was made of overhere, on this 'mainland'. Was it an island, or maybe filled all with ice? It sure was cold compared to their home...at least away from their mountains.
As Cassia reached out, Raeka took the drink and sipped it, realizing after the words were said that yes, it was quite a bit flora with a bit of a kick. She smiled, and tried to not look like it was too much. It sure was different compared to the heavy stuff they drank back home, mostly mixed with sweeteners so they could mask the result of caffeine filled beverage.
"It's...unique..." She responded with a grin, setting the small cup down, "Is this from Tale?"

“Hm no sorry,” Cassia ran her hand through her hair. She wished she had some of their good stuff but that was what had gone first. She wished she could have let the foreign woman try some. “It’s from Oba.” She said softly before pouring another drink for her. “The tale stuff always goes first.” She was tempted to apologize again but stopped herself. “This one is from Matori, it’s meant to taste a bit like the water.”

"Oba..." Raeka echoed, before blinking her bright eyes and letting out a laugh, "I'm sorry, I really haven't done my research...all I know is that this place is called Tendaji, and that you've got a mix of people from all over. I guess I should really learn more if we are going to be traveling back and forth in the future..."
She was half serious, her curiosities weren't quite in the land. That was saved for someone who cared about the people, or the health, or the animals or even the plants. She was more interested in their travel, and based on the way people packed things up, it was still quite rudimentary. Creatures tugging on carts, surely they had another solution. Then again, Belrea was still perfecting the idea of using steam to pull their resources, so maybe it just wasn't time.
Or maybe they really were the advanced group out of the two.
"Taste like the water? Does their water taste differently?" As she moved to take it and sip it, she tried to imagine how the water might taste. Maybe there was more than fresh and saltwater?

“Oh I’m sorry!” Well good thing Cassia hadn’t just prattled on about where the teas came from and how they were picked and everything about climate and how it affected the tastes.
“Well like, the sea water.” She wondered if she was explaining things properly. She didn’t really know how else to say it but the salty taste was certainly not for everyone.
“This one is light,” Cassia paused wondering if she should tell her where it was from or not. “From Sauti if you’re curious.” Better to tell her than omit the information, perhaps at some other point she’d travel.
“Do you plan on travelling Tendaji a lot?” Cassia was curious about Belrea though. “Do you have teas in Belrea?”

Like the sea water? How interesting. Once again, Raeka felt the tickle of curiosity, but dismissed it for a greater person to take on. She was sure a Geian would wander about and learn all about the teas of this land, most likely finding techniques to improve them with their advanced technology. For now, she simply sipped it a bit but shook her head. The other one was spicy, this was salty, but she was curious about the new one. Taking the light one from Sauti, she smiled.
"It's all different from our own. Ours is strong to give us strength to keep working. This seems to be more of a relaxing tea maybe?"
As she continued to sip, she shook her head, "And in terms of travel...no I am part of the crew so I'll be flying everyone back home once we are ready to go."

Cassia nodded quickly as she listened to the girl talk. This was quite the curious tea indeed! Some teas here were used to give the same effect. Sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn’t. She was curious to know if theirs worked and perhaps if she could mix the two into something that was quite potent.
“Oh, so some of you are returning home?” That was curious, granted this was probably the one and only time Cassia would ever be able to meet someone from Belrea. “Will there be other voyages from here to Belrea?”

"Oh yes. We actually will need to work a bit, but our hope is eventually we will have monthly flights back and forth. Already we've gotten some people who are returning with us...surprisingly really. They wont be able to return but they are very interested in our cities and technology."
Some of the intellectuals wanted to return, and others were curious about the lands and the creatures. They all had a reason and confidence in their choice, just as she was confident to fly across with her team. It was inspiring, and encouraging, and she hoped this was the beginning of a beautiful relationship with the mainlanders.
"Are you interested in traveling to the island?"

Cassia was day dreaming as the girl spoke. She wished she could travel like that, freely and without restraint. Still family duty kept her close to home, perhaps one day maybe she would travel.
"Me?" Cassia shook her head furiously before looking away. "I could never travel no, it's... It's just not for me I think." Cassia poured another tea.
"This one should taste earthy but in a green way." Did that even make sense? "The leaves are very bitter so the taste is strong."

"Not for you? Not with that attitude!" Raeka said with a laugh and a grin, shaking her head as she reached for the tea. Taking a sip, she noticed it was a bit bitter and tried to hide her surprise. Instead she focused on her response.
"How do you think you will grow in your skill with tea if you dont explore the world in every way? Surley you want to be the best and leader of knowledge, right?"

“Maybe,” Cassia said a little sheepishly. She was certainly not about to bring attention to her scars if the girl hadn’t already noticed. That was one event that she did not want to repeat out loud, not to friends, not to family, and sometimes not even to herself.
“Well, I would just be happy working with my mother.” Cassia said with a smile laugh. “I don’t think I’ll be a leader in knowledge that’s for sure.” She wasn’t even sure she’d ever met someone who was a leader in knowledge like that.
“Perhaps one day I will travel. Belrea seems to have some unexplored tea so I am sure that I will end up having to go with my mother.” Cassia shrugged. “So which one is your favorite?”
