A plate of cookies sat enticingly in the middle of the cafeteria, beside a torn sheet of paper with EAT ME scrawled across it. A slightly more discerning hunter might have been a little more wary - this one, however, was just hungry.
Grabbing a can of lemonade from a nearby vending machine, Reine pulled up a a chair at the table and started munching away.
They were actually pretty good!

The cafeteria was always a good place for things like lunch and snacks and socializing. It was not, however, a place Sherry usually picked up random food. Random things were subject to suspicion due to experiments and pranks. Sometimes accidents happened, and Sherry knew that. Today though, the plate of cookies was being kept company but a young hunter. One of the very young hunters if Sherry had to guess, though she didn't want to jump to conclusions. Besides, the important thing was that the girl was eating the cookies, and nothing bad seemed to be happening. "Do you," Sherry said as she stepped up to the table and reached for a cookie, "happen to know who made these?"

Lost in cookie reverie, Reine jumped a little when Sherry approached. Suddenly feeling a little self-conscious, she reached up to wipe cookie crumbs from her face, and took a sip of her lemonade.
"Uh.. no idea," she replied, thoughtfully nibbling at the cookie still in her hand. "I wish I knew so I could write them a thank-you note or something though. They're really good!"
So good, in fact, that she'd preemptively stuffed a couple away into her pocket for later.
"It's like, the perfect balance between chewy and crunchy, like there's just enough bite to them but they're so crumbly they almost melt in your mouth, and you can really taste the butter in them, and the dark chocolate is to die for, I mean obviously not literally, but if you compare them with the cookies you can get from the vending machines, well let's just say, if I was gonna die for anything it wouldn't be Chips Ahoy." Pausing mid-ramble, Reine tilted her head up at the other hunter, as if she'd just realised something.
"Hey, you're Sherry, right? You like sweet things? And you travel a bunch? How do you even get to travel anyway? Do you just ask like, Caroline or someone if you can go somewhere? How do you decide where to go?"
Her eyes were almost as round as saucers as she inched closer to Sherry.
"Can you take me with you somewhere?"

"Are they?" Sherry knew it was a gamble to take free food left out. However, she wasn't one to pass up a good cookie, either. She frowned just the slightest bit in contemplation before deciding that if the cookie was worth it. It had dark chocolate in it, and according to the girl was made with real butter. Worth a gamble indeed. Sherry took a bite. The cookie had been described very well and it was indeed a cookie worth eating. Sherry was happily enjoying her mouthful of cookie when she heard the other hunter use her name. "Hm?" Sherry swallowed her mouthful of cookie. "Yeah, I'm Sherry who likes sweet things. And travel." She paused for a moment to give her brain a second to catch up. "I, uh, I'm allowed to go where I want. Full Hunter privileges." Okay, the little hunter was clearly interested in travel. Sherry had to smile. "I just...pick interesting places to go to? My specialization has be exploring old places, like ruins and stuff. Do you, uh, like things like that? I have clearance to bring helpers along and stuff? It's work, technically." She took another bit of cookie. "So if you don't mind that, sure, I can bring you along!"

"You can go wherever you want?!"
It sounded too good to be true, to Reine, who immediately decided she was going to research the quickest pathway to becoming a full hunter when she next had a free moment.
"Yeah yeah yeah I LOVE things like that!" In her excitement she'd practically forgotten about the cookies. "We used to do roadtrips a bunch, just to like, you know, go see things? Bobby would drive, or sometimes mom would take us camping, but I wanna go see ruins though like real ones? Super super old ones? Are like mythical places even real? And do you ever find stuff like. Treasure and things? Can you even keep them? Is that allowed?"
Oh, the endless, endless possibilities! Sherry was her ticket out of here, to cool adventures and excitement and travelling, and she wasn't about to pass it up.
"I wanna go please!" Reaching across the table, Reine clasped Sherry's free hand and gazed up at the older hunter.
"When's the next mission? Where are we going? Do I need permission from Caroline? Or maybe we can just not say anything? It's totally safe and there's another hunter looking out for me right? I mean that's you, obviously. Please?"
