There was a tap at Dr. H's office door as Melvin stood at the door. A covered tank was under one arm and a black case was under the other. "Sir?"
It was hard not to smile and Melvin's hair was still slightly damp.

"It's open." The office was filled with textbooks that upon closer inspection, were for high school level education. The doctor was wielding a red sharpie over one such.

Stepping in, Melvin looked at the various textbooks and H's hovering red pen and had the instinctual dread at seeing it raised from years of returned test papers. He guessed H must be taking on various educational duties for the reversed hunters but right now he had other things to report and present.
And regardless of age everyone in some way was being graded in this division.
"Sir.." How the hell did he even smoothly introduce such a discovery. Did H even know?
"..I've finished my mission under the island as proposed. It was very successful. I.." He moved the tank and pulled out a folder to offer him which included his mission report, including what he managed to take pictures of and record before his phone battery gave out.
...well We, the team and I.." He stopped to take a breathe as it was hard not to just explode into giddy rambling but the folder in his hand reminded him this was a business setting.
"We found Atlantis." The smile was something he could not quell.

The doctor gazed down at the file for a long moment and then back to Melvin. "I would ask if you've begun seeing things again, but it this correlates with what I've heard so far. Atlantis, you say?" The leader looked a bit wistful.

"If I had been the only witness I might have doubted what I saw two but multiple hunters during the mission also can confirm the discovery. I included their names in my report. After we exterminated the Eel blocking various tunnels under Deus, a door was exposed that took in runic power to operate. A robotic golem activated as a guide and escorted us inside. There were also other pools leading to other locations as a type of...central meeting place."
It was hard not to ramble and just start reading his report page for page to the Life Lead.
"They stated this place is Avalon. There is Atlantis and other pools went to other locations in a kind of network."
His head was still swimming with the information was he was too fired up to take time to do so much as try and keep his tone from rising. He saw Atlantis for Pete's sake!
"Oh! I brought back something local." And it was here he presented the covered tank.

"Avalon is a fairly old name, considering its origins within the other world, perhaps much more ancient than previously considered," the doctor nodded. "There are portals here on this island to other places as well, one of the ones we closed ourselves led to the bowels of Amityville Academy." He leaned forward to take a closer look at the tank.

Melvin removed the cover and pulled out something from the water and set it down upon Dr. H's desk.

Dr. H hadn't said anything in what felt like days. After a while, Melvin picked it up and set the minipet back into its bowl and slide it over to Dr. H.
"It's a minipet from Atlantis. You can have it."

The doctor accepts the offer with a vague murmur of gratitude. He's a little perplexed and entirely bemused by the offering, but apparently Melvin had made the right move. For once, no scathing commentary followed. "Fear-rich enough to sustain one of these, but trainees were able to breathe the air for some time? Interesting, it seems Atlantis lays on the border between worlds. Perhaps that is part of the connection to this island. You've done good work, Melvin, in revealing the way there." He didn't tap the glass, but he did wiggle his fingers at the creature. "I assume the case is also a piece of your most recent adventure?"

"I don't know how long we could be exposed to it, but the golem guide seemed to say that human visitors came there often. If it was a hub, it must have been able to handle both the conditions of Hunters and their own residents. However, if there were safety measures set up in Atlantis to make it possible, I don't know what state they would be in now without anyone maintaining the place. I won't know until I visit more often and take more hunters with me to see how well they do." Melvin was hesitant but eased that Dr. H hadn't just shoved the minipet back at him, which had been a highly likely scenario in his mind. If he did, Melvin would have just brought it to the labs for testing.
As for the case, he slowly set it on the table. "No. This was from our previous meeting. What we discussed. I'm finished with the prototype." If he could even call it that at this point given how much time he had put into it. There had been very specific decisions Lawr had in the design that he had to implement to become more suitable for the blonde.
Opening the case revealed a modified watch and a collar, the leather a pristine white with gilded accenting. "I've already tested it's range and intensity several times." The top section of the case had a simple folder with data collected from testing.

Leaning over to look at it, the doctor asked, a little distant, "Have you tried it on yourself, yet? And did you go with positive or negative reinforcement?"

"Yes. On myself first before I tested it on Lawr. I went with negative. Lawr has his a** patted too much as it is most days. It's a simple shock."
Lawrence liked a comfortable lifestyle and liked when people treated him nicely, feeling as if he deserved only the best and not getting when bad things happened later on. A quick zap right at the time of a poor decision was made against the well-being of someone else was a good way to make him pay attention and be aware when a line he didn't see was crossed.
"I don't want to give a spoiled child candy."

"He was made to cut off his own hand for his transgressions, Melvin. And yet... here we are." the doctor reasoned. "Why did you select negative reinforcement?" The question was asked again, patiently.

Melvin stared back at him, wondering why the question was asked again. Pleasure and pain worked in the same way. It could shock Lawr enough for someone to escape, and both could either reward for good actions or punish for bad actions. "Pain sticks." He said out loud.
But it was more who Lawr was too. He felt entitled to good things, felt he deserved them, so just more rewards being showered on him just made him cringe. To have him smile because he didn't take an action when he could possibly just be scheming, and it was harder to decide when he was doing good just by being around others and letting them exist. Then what? He was rewarding him just by being a decent human being and not tormenting everyone around him?
"He flickers between thinking he is a god and then wanting to be human. Maybe being forced under someone will stop that untouchable god complex of his and humble him a bit. Can't act like a king when you have a collar on, and when you're not the king, you work under the same rules as everyone else on this island."
He closed the case slowly, thinking it over. "He doesn't deserve a pleasurable experience for what he is capable of."
Lawr deserved nothing but a mountain of pain he inflicted on others and would continue to inflict if he was left to think he ruled over everyone and had control over everything.
He just wanted to see him torn down.
