Shield Base: 110 kilometers long, 50 kilometers high, Shield Base orbits Earth and is the headquarters of the Solarian Navy. Shield Base Astro Control, a civilian organization, handles all traffic in and out of the Sol System, though they have a new base orbiting Mars and will be switching there, soon. Shield Base is also fully capable of defending against enemy attack, aided by the AI known as ALEX, the first AI ever built, as well as the most powerful.The station uses multiple plasma turrets, graser mounts, missile launchers, and at least ten Heavy Gauss Cannons, as well as triple layer shielding and armor rivaling battleships.

Shield Base is the oldest active space station built by man, as it used to be a launch point for exploration ships, back in the early days of human space travel. The constructed from the original International Space Station, though by this point, almost none of the original station remains.
