In-Character Posting
There should be a general format you should follow while posting as your character. It's fairly simple and isn't required, but you should at least do something similar that stresses the points I'm about to make. Most of the time, you should post in third person. E.g. Yuumei makes a post about RP Guidelines. In it, he discusses what IC posts should look like.
It's basically like writing a book.
Another important factor is distinguishing actions from spoken words. Just as you see in books, please put all conversation in "quotation marks" or make it obvious in another way. Same with thoughts.
Be as descriptive as possible. Lack of description can lead to embarrassment. Let me give you an example of how...and how to change it.
Quote:
Quote:
An unknown ninja stared at Yuumei. He then threw a kunai.
Yuumei bursted into laughter as the ninja threw his kunai above his own head. It nearly landed on top of the ninja's head and, instead, fell six inches behind him, firmly stuck into the ground. "What are you doing? Hahaha!"
How things should look...

Quote:
The ninja stood roughly ten feet in front of Yuumei, eyes fixated on his face. A split second after reaching towards his own waist, he flung a kunai in Yuumei's direction, aiming towards his chest.
The kunai impacted Yuumei's chest. He fell to the ground with his hand pressed against his wound. As he faded into unconsciousness, he muttered a few, last words. "Nice...aim..."
Description is the key to everything. Without conveying exactly what you mean, things can be interpreted in many different ways. You can also go overboard though.
Other's Actions:
Without the use of a technique or the owner's permission, you cannot control another character's actions. You cannot decide when they jump, what they say, etc. This includes NPCs. Unless given permission, you cannot use NPCs to your advantage.
Surroundings:
You also generally have no control over your surroundings. If you are roleplaying by yourself or your partners do not care about the change, then altering the weather or time of day is all fine. But when it can create an unfair advantage, controlling aspects such as that are off limits without the use of a jutsu. Moderators have some leeway when it comes to this, but it is not to be used for personal gain. Only when it's necessary for the storyline. E.g. We may have an event revolved around the invasion of a village. A mod may, in this case, cause NPCs to attack your character or something similar.
Training
We actually want your roleplaying decisions to be more focused on interacting with other people and doing plot-related stuff instead of training by yourself. As such, literally all in-character posts contribute to training. Actual in-character training does not yield any benefit compared to just posting normally.
- Restrictions:
When learning a technique, is not necessarily immediately accessible.
If you are outside of battle, any obtained technique may instantly be used.
If you are in the middle of a battle, however, new techniques may only be added after the battle is over.
Each character's training should be separate. Posts made by one character should not count as training for another character.
Lastly, obviously all OOC posts do not count towards training. But memory-based posts and mock battles do not count either. These are only meant for personal enjoyment and perhaps to add depth to a character.
Training is required to obtain techniques, potentially special weapons, etc. Before training for a technique, you must first get it approved in the Application forum. There should be a pattern to it. You get a technique approved, you train for it, technique is added to your profile, you get another technique approved. Only one technique per character will be reviewed at a time. Until that technique is learned, you cannot create another. The only exceptions are when you have been awarded jutsu points and have enough to use on multiple jutsu...or during your character's initial profile creation.
Each post you make obviously has a certain number of words within it. Training is quantifiable through the amount of words you post. In other words, we measure your training by how many words you type in each post.
For every 600 words you type out, you get what is called a Jutsu Point. Jutsu Points (or JPs) are used to buy jutsu, weapons, etc. The higher the rank of a jutsu, the more JPs it costs.
- Jutsu Cost
E Rank: 1 Jutsu Point
D Rank: 2 Jutsu Points
C Rank: 3 Jutsu Points
B Rank: 4 Jutsu Points
A Rank: 5 Jutsu Points
S Rank: 6 Jutsu Points
Combat
Fighting can be complicated and tense. I want to first and foremost stress this...do not argue about someone's else's post in the guild. Take it to PMs. If a moderator is needed, we can set up a temporary thread for the discussion (as opposed to an argument) to take place. Or it can be discussed in our Skype/Discord Chat. Again, under no circumstances should you argue with someone else inside of one of the forums designated specifically for roleplaying.
Most of what needs to be said has already been mentioned in another thread or this one. The killing of another character may or may not be allowed, depending on the rules at the time, but one thing that remains constant is that when a character does "die," it will be treated as a knock out, essentially. The person who killed the character can do as he/she pleases with the character (keep it appropriate). Whether that's letting the character die, imprisoning the character, or simply leaving them be. The choice is ultimately up to you. Although this is subject to change based on moderator review.
Chakra:
Chakra is the source of most of your jutsus and abilities. It's relative, in a sense. It's largely up to the people involved to determine what the limits are. We are not going as far as to say something like: all genin character can only use ten jutsu per fight. We're not going there. It's up to you to decide. If the people involved agree that there are no limits, then that's what goes. Anyone that enters mid-fight are subject to those terms. If a review is needed though, there are things we will take into account when coming to a decision.
Generally, the stronger the jutsu, the more chakra it takes. Generally, the higher the rank of the character, the more chakra they have.
The same can be said for things related to stamina and fatigue.
Note that without a way to see chakra, all forms of it are invisible to your character. You cannot detect chakra forming in someone's hand. Chakra sensory is also not natural. You can not sense someone's chakra without an ability to do just that.
Handsigns:
Jutsu are generally a culmination of forming physical hand signs and producing chakra. You don't have to go crazy with the description of the hand signs. You really don't even have to mention forming hand signs. But it will always be assumed that you do unless stated otherwise in your post. And the only way it will be approved of is if the jutsu's description mentions that it doesn't require hands signs and it has been approved by a moderator.
Tools and Weaponry:
We're not gonna force people to keep count. This largely follows the same rules as chakra. If you can agree to an endless supply of shuriken, go for it.
We also do not require people to list every little item they have on them. So any and all characters may have kunai, shuriken, wire, smoke bombs, flash tags, explosive tags, etc.
