Background and shortened bio

Aireesse Aeraron was born as the youngest out of a sibling flock of 12 into the family of wealthy elven nobles. Being so far from any position of power, and with not a whole lot of bachelors to spare of any rank, Airee was encouraged from birth by her loving, adoring, unhealthy smothering mother and father to follow her dreams and be whimsical. Airee's life was indeed a Disney musical come true: kissing her first love under a sea of stars, servants and civilians who happily joined inn on her singing in the streets (along with some impressive improvised dancing), easily solved problems, no concept of money and wealth, storybooks and a black and white world where everything was good or positively not there.

As nothing was expected from Airee, she was allowed to skip the majority of her more... logical education in favor of becoming a bard --- a professional story teller, musician, dancer and general artist for hire. Miraculously enough this also turned out to be something she was talented at, and at age 10 she had composed her first orchestra piece, soon followed by three complete musicals that were somehow performed on stage and sold well despite the lack of coherent plot.

In her teens, Airee's teachers began to realize that the young lady had a decent affinity with magic as well, and the poor girl was forced to drop her dream of becoming a famous opera composer to train in the art of "heart stringing": taming anger, heal wounds and sooth pain, release spells, distract and otherwise enchant and cast spells upon others by music and song. Her romantic and overly emphatic nature made her excellent for calming raging dragons and inspiring vigor into tired and beaten armies, and she's been stuck in that role for many... many... many years now, much to her dismay and frustration.

Nowadays Airee's been smart enough to up her commission price so high that hardly anyone bothers to call upon her anymore without there being some country wide disaster going on, and she's perfectly happy with that. She is regularly chaperoned to various taverns, and spends her free time singing, dancing and playing music for those who just happen to be around.

Family and relationships

Lady Edea and Duke Sambar Aeraron, parents - Obscenely wealthy they're the elven equivalent of the typical too much tan and golf family with royal ties on top.

Utterly benign and friendly, Duke Sambar has in the past been a great diplomat and popular social figure. Nowadays he's taking it slow, enjoying his grandchildren and attempting to learn alchemy because his magical affinity is 6 feet below. His heart beat never seems to go any higher than regular resting, and he still has the stamina of a young man, outpacing his own bodyguards if push comes to shove.

Edea is still hopelessly in love with her husband, and shows her affection to one and all by feeding them constantly with good food. She's very round for an elf, perhaps even getting fat in her old age. Well liked, but never really invited anywhere because she can't seem to keep track of things.

Minette, Islin, Dita, Minnewen, Sharin, Mihra, Naia, Pelinel, Onelleia, Nessna and Renbenna, Aireesse's older sisters - The real miracle it that none of these girls are twins or triplets. Minette is the oldest and the age decends from there. Honestly? Airee doesn't keep track of them. All she really knows is that Islin got married to a guy who likes to hunt, Naia has become some sort of famous warrior with her own clan, and Nessna never goes anywhere because everything is spooky. The rest are off doing their own thing, or being important... somewhere.

Body

Appearance

Aireesse hard a short, heart shaped face with lovely cheek bones. She's delightfully elfish, and is an incredible beauty even by their standards.

Paler than a ghost, Airee's veins are quite visible if you get inn close enough. She's very proud she doesn't need makeup though.

Tall and thin, Airee stands a regular head taller than the average human.

Airee has a strange quirk where her ears are much longer than average, and she has once or twice been accused of not being a real elf because of it. It's a sensitive topic. Please don't touch.

Airee has a rather distinct scent of berries on her at all times. Some joke she always smells like a fruitbasket because she is one.

Golden hair, sparkling, shining! Airee glows like the sun! Now if it didn't get so easily stuck in things due to being so... inconveniently long. She can't cut it though! It will ruin her romantic appearance. Besides --- if she has a romantic encounter, how will her locks blow dramatically in the wind? Foresight! Airee has it!

Never seen without a jewel headdress. Airee is a little superstitious and believes that if she doesn't wear a lucky stone on her head, something bad might happen, and bad doesn't happen to Airee!

Often associated with flamingos, Aireesse likes to dress up in pinks, which makes her stand out like a sore thumb outside of her home. She also like to wear knee length dresses, as it allows her skip and dance more easily.

Aireesse is a young elf in her mid 20s.

Airee inherited her sea blue eyes from her mother, and she's a bit self conscious that they're darker than the average elves'. Her siblings' near glows in the dark!

Health

Though she'll insist that she's as fragile as a butterfly's wing, Airee can probably take a brick to the back of her skull and be fine. She's surprisingly hardy and resistant to... well... pretty much everything besides stabbing. Airee as been doing ballet for many years, and she's agile with powerful jumps when she wants to + good eye to hand coordination. She's far from clumsy. It's entertaining to watch her constantly being able to catch things from falling.

Powers and role

Song of Sweet - Aireesse plays a happy tune and sings along, lifting spirits and relieves stress. Named for that weird tingly feel it leaves in your toes and nose. It's a favorite of girls, while boys tend to complains it's a bit too silly and whimsical.

Ballad of the Brave - A rather long, epic tale of King Ulf the Bold sung to a familiar, steady tune. It doesn't only inspire bravery, but also increases strength and provides good luck. Airee complains it's a strain on her throat due to the volum she has to sing to be heard over clanging steel and dying folks.

Oracle - One of Airee's most powerful spells. She can somewhat predict a person's future to some degree by lulling herself into a trance and playing freely, letting whatever is tugging on her lips out. It's quite spooky due to its' vague and mystical nature, but is hardly ever wrong. Poor Airee though hardly remember what happens during the thing, let alone the tune she used. Her predictions are, like Aireesse, mostly romantically inclined and this is why she's been awarded the nicknames of "Bard of Hearts" and "Cupid's Bard". A most efficient match maker.

Familiar/companion

Aireesse has a huge collection of doves and flamingos, and she's not above bringing them with her to make a point that she can... and to annoy people who demand her service. Her favorite flamingo Desdenova, as he's actually surprisingly well trained and cuddly.

Mind

Personality

Docile and delicate about EVERYTHING - Aireesse might not be the most logical woman nor the most well educated, but she's highly inquisitive and willing to learn. Whenever she comes across something new, she has this intense urge to ask "why" and try it out for herself. If she meets a merc with a strange new weapon, she's never too shy to ask if she can try and pick it up and get details on what it's used for. Quite frankly she's easily distracted by new things. How she goes about new things however is a bit strange. She's always very slow and gentle with things. If faced with a lever for example, she walks around it, notes down its' shape and touches it to see how solid it is before attempting to pull, and when pulling she's ginger about it, never using her whole weight at the time to test the limits before going all in! And she'll happily repeat the the process with the next lever she comes across. Some might complain she wastes a lot of time doing this over and over again, but Airee is happy to do things at her own snail pace. In her defense, she's probably a lot more observant than her innocent, blank looks let on. When left alone in a dungeon, it's never her that walks into a trap. Needless to say --- Airee likes adventuring, but she never gets very far on her own.

Not horribly expressive despite all the smiling - Aireesse's default expression is smiling! Afraid? Smile! Angry? Smile! You just horribly embarrassed her? A sweet smile and a laugh! While not good at keeping a consistent and long running lie as she had a tendency to be scatterbrained or focused on other thing, she's most excellent at ruling her face and body language. It's honestly hard to understand what she's actually feeling without her vocalizing it, and since she's been bred to behave it honestly makes things even more difficult to read. A lot of her emotions and phrases are so bathed in metaphors and excessive amounts of words coming out at a waterfall pace, it can be hard to decipher that was just said. Aireesse thinks little of it, and is rather surprised that other people don't have this amount of control.

The most intense of feels - If Aireesse is something, it's romantic. She feels things down in her bones and they're all very genuine to her. She's not trying to be dramatic about it. It's a part of her nature, and she can't turn her empathy off. The sad tugs at her heart strings, and she can't leave it be. When in love, it's the love of her life... but just as swiftly she falls out and she's all miserable and she has to convey that somehow through song, dance or words. She likes to share how she feels, both good and bad, and she has this uncanny ability to put everything related to emotions into words that makes sense and convey exactly what you need them to. Many adore Airee for her ability to listen and understand, but it's also a double edged sword. Airee can be exhausting in the long run due to her intensity. Depending on her friend they call her either loving or clingy, generous or pushing things onto them that they don't want. Her expressions of both love and hate are so fueled that it almost hurts, and she tends to forget herself when she's not among her own, sensitive elf kind. However, thanks to all her sharing and openess, Airee has never, ever struggled psychologically. Sure, she's annoyed with her work and she's been lonely many times, but she's never prone to real jealousy, anxiety, long term melancholy and other things that would generally harm her daily life.

A fan of the ♀ and ♂ - Well, despite Airee thinking everyone should be happy and enjoy the small things in life, she's also a firm believer that gender roles aren't... so... bad? Airee adores the stereo-typically girly: sewing, dresses, taking care of small things, delicate movements and she get so, so, so excited whenever someone treats her as a princess. The growing attitude of the humans that "women can do everything a man can and should too" just baffles her. Like, okay... wanting to mens job is.. okay... she guesses... but why would you want to? Why throw so much tradition away? Most likely it's a byproduct from the elven attitude of balance --- if one way swings too much to the other, the scale tips and all falls. Due to this, Airee often tries to compensate and lead by example whenever she feels her company is too "masculine", which can sometimes be an annoyance. She'll also try to firm up men whenever she feels they tip too much over to the feminine side. But what is feminine and masculine to Airee? Welp. Maybe that should have its' own post... but to her it mostly dives into body language and speech rather than jobs and attire. She won't be horrified by a short haired woman wielding a shield and sword, but she will be horrified if she spreads her legs too widely while sitting.

Fickle lil pickle - Airee has never been stubborn about much. Sure, she is persistent about a few things, but she's never head strong and setting her mind to something, working tirelessly to get there, batting competition out of her way. My gawd she's not a fan of any type of confrontation, unless it's on the stage or done to save someone. She has a hard time choosing between options, and more than not out of habit just goes with whatever is easiest. Is it because she's afraid that she'll have to battle for something? Is it because she doesn't like to be in charge of her own decisions? Does she overthink everything considering how much time she spends observing and experimenting with new things? Is she just not that invested in things that aren't music? One thing is for sure! Whenever you ask her about something, be sure she'll just mumble and you'll have to make out the answer for yourself.

Likes and hobbies

Airee has a song for every occasion, and she can make them up on the fly too. I wasn't kidding when I said her life is like a Disney movie. A Disney musical! Airee likes to break into song, skip around and have a good time. It's how she relieves stress and pent up feelings.

Airee moves all sorts of instruments, but she prefers strings. The lyre and harp are her go to, but when faced with something intense, the fiddle is what she breaks out.

Okaaaaaay... so.... MAYBE the reason why she's such a big fan of the whole man/woman traits thing is because... she has a thing for guys with beards, pumped up bodies, scars, protective personalities and big arms???

Airee's chaperones, Nym and Nor, are wonderful lads who are both excellent at shooting arrows and stabbing people. They also make for the best backup dancers and extra band members. They refuse to sing though. Such good guys.

Dislikes and avoidance

Airee always has with her a pair of gloves so she doesn't have to touch dirt. She will make her chaperones carry her if things are too dirty. She's shameless about it.

Hidden talents

Airee is remarkably good at managing to fall asleep regardless of noise and lack of comfort.

Current goals and motivations

All Airee wants is to be cast out by the bard academy so she can get back into writing scripts and music again, but duties are what duties are for elves...

Background and shortened bio

Degar Bolar's life had a rough start. He grew up in an isolated and highly tribalistic clan of orcs that used to refuse the aid of healers and medicine as they had the attitude that only the strongest deserved to survive. He watched a lot of his family, friends and allies fall to plagues and small infections, and as a result he became a rather bitter induvidual. Nonetheless he had the pride of the lion, as as soon as he hit puberty joined their militia and became quite the frontline brawler due to his dexterity and surprising cunning.

It wasn't long however before Degar was accused of cheating due to lack of just hitting things with a bat, and rather than being exiled by the clan leader, Degar pulled out his own tusks and left them behind along with his ax. With only a small knife on his hip and a pair of pants, Degar wandered off west to start over in an environment more suited for his own tempo and goals.

Degar quickly found himself conscripted into a mercenary band and began climbing the ranks, learning several different languages in the progress, developing an understanding of firearms, lock picking, spotting liarss, deception and most importantly of all --- learned how to play everyone. He was top dog only 3 years in, and that earned his a decent amount of enemies. Once again Degar left behind the little he had, and tried starting again... however it seemed his talented past had somehow gotten ahead of him, and Degar had to result to working alone as a rouge and assassin.

These days he mostly chills around taverns, taking what little jobs he can get and pays his rent by cheating peeps at poker. Every once in a while he manages to find himself in a small, one time band of mercs and local heros to take down pesky undead, monsters on the road and the occasional wyvern.

Family and relationships

Shia, dead sister - Degar still grieves her from time to time. A lovely lady who was excellent at making bracelets.

Body

Appearance

Degar both looks and sounds a lot more human than the average orc, mostly because pulling out his tusks made it easier for him to talk and move his mouth in a proper way that doesn't involve lots of spit and yelling.

Despite being over 6 feet tall, Degar isn't that huge considering. He has a surprising slim build, but this comes from all the dexterity training he does on a regular basis. He's by no means skinny or lacking in muscle. I guess it's more appropriate to call him lean.

Degar is an Eastern Orc, which makes him quite green all over, though he has more pale tan palms and soles.

Degar's eyes and hair are both a very dark shade of brown. Some poke fun at him by calling him a swamp monster, and he responds by giving them the spookiest story he can tell about creatures lurking under the mud. He's quite delighted by the comparison.

The orc has never cared about clothes, and would be just as happy naked as he would wearing a potato sack.He permanently looks like a hobo, but at least his direwolf cape looks impressive!

Degar's feet have an enormous grip, and he has completely abandoned shoes in favor of going barefoot. Easier for him to go around silently, climb walls and use them to pick up items while he's using his hands to fight.

Degar's scars might look imposing and manly and scary, but admittedly he got them all as a child while running face first into a tree.

Health

As it turns out, Degar is resistant to several types of infections and plagues. It's amazing what he's able to have in his system without dying, and he's been trying to build up a poison resistance as well for the past few years with decent success. Still gets hella sick though!

Powers and role

Hyper flexibility and mobility - As long as Degar can stick his head through something, he can somehow snake his body along behind it 75% of the time. In addition to this, he can stretch his joints, contort in many ways and pop them in and out whenever convenient. Took hims years of training and a bit of genetic lottery, but he can now perform tasks that are seemingly impossible, and they also make for neat party tricks.

A killer's shadow - Degar has this uncanny way of blending into crowds despite his height and he's excellent at sneaking up on people.

Familiar/companion

Raskal is a small dragon, only the size of a lizard. He was bought by Degar by mistake, believing he had bought a soft gem instead. The little guy is good company, although he has thing for snapping and biting whenever he gets the chance. Unable to breath fire, as he's still a new born by dragon standards. Raskal has soft, dim red scales. His wings are always tucked in, to avoid getting them caught in something. He can't fly as of yet, and is therefor fearful that his wings might get damaged permanently. Four limbs and a slim tail.

Mind

Personality

NP, papa is here - If there's one thing thing Degar has a hard time admitting, it's that his paternal instinct is off the charts and chasing the kids down the road to make sure they don't get hurt. He's always enjoyed responsibility and being in charge, and surprisingly he gets a lot of fulfillment by taking care of animals and people that generally need protection. However due to the way he was raised and the rough things he's gone through, he's also terrified of getting too attached because everything eventually turns on him or dies. Rescue missions are his solutions to balance the need out, though his bad habit of demanding payment still shines through because he's not mad enough to go suicidal for someone.

A bandit with many needs - Degar likes stuff. To get stuff, he's willing to offer his services, but hell will freeze over before he ever does charity work or donates a penny. He's not exactly the type to put others before him when cash is involved. He needs to gain something to do something, and as such he's developed a reputation as not only as being stingy, but also as a ruthless a*****e who'll charge you before he fetches you water. To make matter worse --- Degar has an awfully long list of all deals and favor he does, and he's worse than a loan-shark when it's time to collect, so... it's... all pretty much true what they say about him. He on the other hand doesn't see what the big deal is about, and he's such a sly dog that whatever he doesn't get in writing doesn't exist according to him, and he's used that reasoning while getting out of tabs and deals himself. He'd be such a a great lawyer if he had the opportunity. In a way, this trait is also a blessing. Unlike many rouges and other devious people, he hardly gets anyone hurt and he's the least likely guy to slit your throat, mostly because it requires more effort than it's worth.

If it works it's not stupid - You gotta hand it to Degar; he's a clever guy and his lack of shame has gotten him out of impossible situations. Gotta swim through a sewer to escape a mean old landlady? He won't even flinch at the stench and complain about the situation. Gotta dress up as a chicken to get closer to a target? Damn, he'll cluck his heart out and won't blush when the story eventually gets retold at the bar. Missing his pants? Fashion something out of leaves. If Degar thinks it works, it's never too dumb, too risky or too bad not to be done. A solution is a solution. It's what makes him so realisable yet highly unpredictable, and he never seems to lose his eye of the target. He never leaves a job unfinished. The results, however, can vary. Admittedly when things are left up to interpretation, he's prone to taking liberties, and considering what a bad luck machine Degar is... it's really more of a survival tactic. He likes to call himself the King of Improv.

No thriller, no praise - Degar isn't a guy to seek out adventure, nor does he desire to be well known, a hero. He's actually the kind who scoffs at the notion of seeking fame and glory, as in his opinion you only truly achieve it once you're dead and can't use it. He doesn't see why people allow status and titles to be handed down generations, and he doesn't see why surviving a war is so praised either. You have to deserve what you have is his attitude, either by working hard or stealing it. Both are legit ways to get somewhere. At least you tried instead of having it given to you. Likewise his memory and line of sight isn't obscured by someone's death, and he's not the kind to ignore the rule of "don't speak ill of the dead" and he'll be damn blunt about it too if he feels it's all wrong. He's not exactly the most sensitive lad, but he's also real about most things, especially his opinion.

Secret scholar - Due to his circumstances and race, Degar isn't the guy you think of when the word "intelligent" pops up. Orcs have this nasty reputation of being nothing but brutes, and yet... here we have Degar, cheating everyone at poker while switching between 4 or 5 languages on the fly, not getting a single word messed up. Degar likes to know things. Not because learning gives him lots of joy, but because it makes him less nervous and helps him feel more at peace with the things around him. The more he can communicate and control, he more he gains and the more others gain from him. A win-win situation. He's not especially proud of this trait and what he knows, as he's under the delusion that "he doesn't know s**t". He's the guy you want to go to whenever you need a little bit of info, as he's well acquainted with several spy networks and traders, and he's never empty handed, even when he travels across continents. Degar is also a surprisingly good teacher, if given the chance, being patient and willing to try all sorts of different paces and methods to help you learn.

Likes and hobbies

Degar likes to sculpt small figures out of tree, and he's quite handy with all things creative. Also makes some pretty nice bowls.

Degar is super great at reading tracks and environments, and he sometimes makes friends with strange animals whenever he ends up in a new county, using them as his spare eyes and ears.

Dislikes and avoidance

Due to his hilarious bad luck and poor timing, Degar evades everything that looks and feels fragile.

Degar doesn't get politics much, and anything even remotely related to it he shuns like the plague.

Degar grew up mostly naked, and he still hasn't warmed up to the idea of clothes due to his naturally tough, near weatherproof skin. Fashion goes straight above his head.

Hidden talents

Degar can make really convincing wolverine sounds.

Degar also speaks a bunch of languages, and I don't think he even gets to use half of them!

Current goals and motivations

All Degar wants right now is enough money to pay off his tab and buy himself a small cottage up north.
