- Ofelia was sure of one fact and one fact alone. She was the worst creature to ever inhabit the Cosmos. She had disappeared again with no good explanation, but this time it was different, her absence had not been caused by a lack of faith but a lack of answers. She had not seen Raven and Jett since before the abnormality in Mirrorspace, since before she had come across and consumed a golden liquid that had bestowed on her the strangest dreams, since just after her return from Castor.
So much had happened that she could not explain, that she did not understand, how could she face them when she knew so little? Last time she saw Jett she had promised him answers, but instead she had just fallen deeper down the rabbit hole. Besides, they had so much on their plate and trouble seemed to follow her everywhere she went. She did not wish that for them, she did not wish that on Chloe either. Sometimes it felt like the best thing she could do, the best blessing she could bestow, was to keep out of their way.
Worst auntie. Worst friend. Worst Dark Mirror Senshi. It was known. Full stop. Exclamation mark.
She had no right to knock on their door, no right to hold a bottle of wine and a stuffed animal like it would make up for everything. They were kind people, she did not deserve them and that only worsened the guilt she felt. The fact she knew they would probably forgive her when they had every right to turn her away, it made asking for forgiveness seem cowardly in the first place. She wanted them to be angry, she deserved it.
She shuffled on the doorstep, golden eyes peering through the window to try and spot movement. She did not know what she was going to say, but hoped beyond hope she would find words when the time came. She looked to her feet and sighed, whispering a quiet rehearsal to herself. What was she doing?
