“And why are we roaming around the city looking for youma like this” WOuldn’t it just be easier to be powered up and well...safer?” The bluenette questione her partner for the evening as they made their way through the streets and alleys not typically visited by much foot traffic at this hour. To find their prey they needed to leave the brighter parts of the city and go to the areas where a person could be more easily caught by surprise and taken down without anyone around really noticing.
In short, two teenagers were out strolling in a place two teenagers probably shouldn’t be.
Chailee had been surprised when Peter mentioned looking for youma as civilians. It was a completely new concept to her. Not once had the idea ever crossed her mind, but when asked, she changed from her school uniform to jeans, sneakers, and a lightweight pink and white spring sweater. A coat was unnecessary with the warming temperatures but she had grabbed a lightweight hoodie to throw on over her sweater if needed. Until donned, the grey hoodie was draped over her well-worn canvas messenger bag.
“And, you’ve done this before?” She asked yet another question as she kept pace beside him, blue and pink curls bouncing with each step. “I hope somebody has told you that this is a bit of a crazy thing to do.” She teased him playfully. After all, she had agreed to come with him so crazy or not, she was subjecting herself to it as well.

”Safer, probably,” Peter agreed as he held up his hand for Chailee to wait for a moment as he peered around the corner of the alley. “They can feel our auras better if we’re powered up. It’s easier to observe them if we’re like this,” he explained, sticking his head further around the corner and clicking his tongue against the roof of his mouth in disappointment.
There was so much to learn about youma that no one really took the time to research before, that he couldn’t help but want to try and get as much collected as he could. They were amazing creatures, all very dangerous, but there had to be more to them than that.
“I do this all the time,” he admitted a little sheepishly because he knew this was normally the time he was scolded for doing dangerous things. “Yeah, I know it’s crazy, but - oh, oh, there it is,” he cut himself off, waving her closer so she could peer around the corner with him.
A long tailed, feathered youma was slinking across the street towards the park.
“Excellent, that’s going to be better for us,” he said with a grin and reached out to grab for her wrist to all but pull her along with him across the street and after the youma.

She followed along with Peter, a little unsure about this plan of his, but also curious. Would she notice a different type of demeanor from the creatures if she wasn't powered up? Would it outright attack them? She had never seen what a youma actually did when not presented with a senshi like herself. Well....there was that train...but again, there had been senshi and knights everywhere...
"So you do this to study them?" She questioned as she followed alongside, pausing when he did to peek around a corner to hear his disappointment. "Why? What's so fascinating about them? They hurt people." She commented, her voice didn't hold any accusation or anger. Just, curiosity. A want to understand.
She stopped at his excitement and peered around the corner to catch the tail end of the feathered youma. Somehow, Chailee felt incredibly ill equipped for this. She had her pen with her, carefully stowed within a small pocket of her bag, but it still felt weird.
Of course, Peter didn't give her much time to ruminate over that. Immediately he snatched her wrist and began tugging her along in his excitement. A blush of confusion spread across her face as she followed behind him, not arguing his grasp on her.
It was moments like this that proved to bluenette that she was far from being over that stage in her life where she crushed upon boys. Was it something out of the blue? Had this been an on going crush since before her loss of memories? She had no clue, and in fact it had been so wishy washy she'd not thought much of it. But now he was practically holding her hand and...
Nope. He's just excited and...just stop. Every time you crush on someone nothing ever happens anyway.
When the finally reached the park after trailing the youma, Chailee reclaimed her hand from Peter's gasp, the flush still on her face. "So...uh...well...what do you want to do now? Just watch it from here or something."

"I want to find a way to turn them back," he explained to Chailee as they made their way across the street, trying to be quiet and not get the youma’s attention. "Well, I know some of them used to be senshi, or even knights… or maybe even negaverse officers. If there’s a way to save them, I want to help."
He knew some of the details, but not all of it. He wanted to know as much as he could because even if he couldn’t do enough on his own, he at least wanted to offer what he knew to other people. He’d heard what happened a couple years back when knights and senshi were taken and tortured. Starseeds, too many of them, turned senshi into youma. Those there had heard her screams and felt the aura shift. If there was a way to turn them back… or at least try to save the starseed, then that’s what he wanted to do .
"I don’t think they hurt people on purpose. I mean, I think it’s the chaos making them crazy, but there have been some that are more docile than others. The half youma ones seem more capable of human thought. Or at least the ones I’ve met," he explained, his voice lowering as he pulled her towards a bush so they could duck down and watch as the youma slinked around in the darkness, his hand still around her wrist.
"I think they’re more interested in our energy and starseeds. Killing people is just what happens when they try to get those things. Or I could be wrong," he added with a shrug.

"They use to be senshi and knights?" That freaked her out a bit. She hadn't ever thought too deeply about youma and how they came into existence or why they even were living things. After all, did they even have a point? Were they like normal animals that had a drive to live and reproduce? Could they reproduce?
"Well, yea. SOme half-youma are actually really nice." She said matter-of-factly, thinking about her friend Merlinite who lived under Tony's library. He'd been so kind in fact that he'd taken it upon himself to make sure Chailee at least had some sort of fighting training when she was first awakened. "But I think they're more human than youma anyway. At least mentally." She couldn't say physically as if made poor Merlinite's life a living hell having to hide all the time.
Her hand was reclaimed and she was tugged to the bush with a slight 'omph' at the sudden movement. But she crouched down beside him, this time not bothering to reclaim her wrist from him as she focused on the youma. Why did they have to be so ugly?
"Well...intent or not, taking our energy and starseeds is a very real problem." She said in a hushed tone, green eyes turning to Peter. "Are you saying they aren't intelligent enough to realize what they're doing? That their actions have an effect? Cause, if you think about it, they're very similar to an animal then with that logic. A cheetah needs to eat and in the process kills its prey to get it's food." She chewed her bottom lip a bit as she focus on the creature they were hiding from. "I always felt like they were a bit more intelligent than a normal animal, but...maybe not."
The youma milled around the area, it's feathered tail swinging now and then. IT was an odd thing, to think of the youma as merely mindless beasts but...perhaps that's what they were? Creatures that only had one purpose and that was to seek our starseeds and energy for food. Wait...did they use it for food? Chailee was made very well aware how little she knew about the chaos beasts the more she talked to Peter and thought about what he was saying. "We're so close. It has to sense us." She said a little shakily as she twisted her wrist out of his grasp so she could fully take hold of his hand for reassurance. Senshi or not, she wasn't powered up and being as close as they were, she wasn't sure if they could power up fast enough if the creature decided to come at them. "Do they sense energy or are they just...sight triggered?"

”Some of them,” Peter said, but lifted a finger to his mouth to make sure she knew she should stay as quiet as possible. They didn’t want to get its attention too soon. Of course, something she said about meeting a half-youma had him glancing at her curiously, frowning a bit in concern.
“You’ve talked to one?” he asked, hoping it wasn’t the same one he’d been dealing with. The half-youma named Wolfeite wasn’t exactly the most pleasant person to deal with, but he was helpful in clearing up some questions every now and then.
“Please be careful. I’m not sure how they all work, but the majority seem interested in energy and starseeds. There are others controlled by Generals and higher ups in the Negaverse that might just attack for the heck of it,” he said, watching around the bush leaves to see what the youma was doing. It didn’t seem too interested in them for the moment, which was great.
He didn’t really react when she pulled her wrist away and took hold of his hand, which he squeezed back to make sure she knew this was okay.
“I want to find one that I can maybe keep. You know, to study,” he explained, wondering if she thought he was absolutely crazy. “They’re pretty intelligent, or at least a lot of them are. But maybe they can be trained. Full youma, I mean. And yeah, it can probably sense us a little, but maybe it’s already full, or was just sent out to look for senshi and knights.”
As much as Peter studied these creatures, he would be the first to admit that he knew very little about them.

"Mhm. I have." She said with a smile. "We're actually friends. He's super nice and even helped me learn a little about fighting. I haven't seen him in a while though." She made a mental note to try and catch up with Merlinite if she ever found herself near the library again. In fact, she should meet up with Camelot at some point as well. The two of them had been missing from her life for several months now. "I am also making friends with a Lieutenant that I've met. They're not all bad and seeking blood and starseeds."
She looked away from the youma to gaze at Peter, appreciative of his small squeeze of her hand which helped ease her. "But I promise I'll be careful only if you promise to be careful around these." She tilted her head toward the youma that has turned away from them slightly making Chailee feel a bit comfortable with their conversation. "The youma seem like bigger gambles when you're out around them when not powered up."
At the mention of keeping a youma Chailee nearly lost her balance and almost tugged Peter down with her. "What? Keep one? And how do you think you can do that?" Her voice had taken on a slightly louder, shriller tone in her surprise and the youma stopped it's exploring of the clearing and snapped itself at attention facing their little hiding spot.
"Oh no." She whispered, slapping her free hand over her mouth. Oh god, don't come over here. Don't come over here. She mentally said the words over and over again as wide green eyes watched as the youma studied the area they were crouched down. She though that perhaps it was going to turn around and leave as it seemed to be wavering on what it wanted to do. But, true to her luck, it seemed that that wasn't going to be the case as the one tail fethered youma began to slowly prowl towards them.
"Peter?" She question him in a worried whisper all the while not taking her eyes off the youma. Her grip on his hand tightened with her worry.Gui1ne Feel free to advance this situation at your pleasure. Or perhaps save them from being spotted? Whichever tickles your fancy! XD

Peter eyed Chailee with concern, which was saying something because he was usually the one doing questionable things, but even though he agreed with her that agents in the Negaverse weren’t always out for blood and starseeds, it wasn’t as easy as befriending them as he would like. There were orders involved that could risk the life of those friends, and the lives of others they cared about, and while he liked to think he was friendly with some as well, he questioned whether they would pick him over their own family to betray if forced to play their hand.
With her surprise came her raised voice, and Peter winced because he knew the youma could hear her. He lifted a finger to his mouth the same time she clasped her hand over hers, his hand feeling quite cramped in her grasp.
Yikes, she had a strong grip.
The youma was heading their way and Peter was trying to decide what to do. They could always power up and fight it, but then they wouldn’t be able to observe it. He would rather not dust it if they could help it.
He kept perfectly still, holding her hand just as tight as the youma began sniffing around, his finger still against his lips to make sure she was quiet. Maybe if they waited it would get bored looking for them.
Or he would distract it and give her the chance to power up. Either way, they needed to bide their time for a few minutes.
