When there was a request to drop some files off at the infirmary, Al jumped at the opportunity. Something to do, something to get out for, and the possibility of crossing paths with Noah and playing hookie for a bit. All great things in his mind at the time.

He arrived at a room and double checked the number on the files before knocking (just in case some crazy medical s**t was going down, you never knew in this place). "Here's the documents you ordered."

Lawrence was always fairly happy in the infirmary, there was always something to do, whether it was taking record of vitals, cleaning or tending to patients, he found it both organised and satisfying. Sometimes there were moments when things ramped up, an influx of hunters returning from a mission, triage instincts kicking in and important symptoms needing tending to.

Those were the times he liked best, his unnerving level of calm standing him and the patients in good stead.

He was going through and updating some files when Al headed into the room and looked up. "I did?" he asked.

Al stood in the doorway a moment, looking completely dumbfounded. One, because the last time he had seen or spoken to Lawr he was acting a lot like his granda (in his mind) but has since shown himself to be far more dangerous via Twitter and Melvin, and Two, he had the wrong room?

He suddenly blinked then lifted the folder up again to look at it with further scrutiny. "Is this room number 36?" He peered over the top of the folder at Lawr. He honestly wasn't sure why he was so bothered by him right now. Not like Lawr ever did anything to him or Noah, still, it felt like that risk was there. Just like anytime you dealt with H. There were inherent risks involved in being around them, right?

Lawrence raised a brow at Al. "No. Thirty three, six is across the hall." he shrugged his shoulders. "Is it anything I can help with or are you looking for someone specific?"

Al sighed and leaned back to cast a glance behind himself at the other door. He could have sworn...

... then his attention was back to Lawr, albeit rather grimly. How do you nicely tell someone that as helpful as they are trying to apparently be, the details were not exactly public record?

Ya change da subject, dats how. Al silently agreed with Nuru, carefully tucking the folder under his arm and putting on an awkward half-smile.

"Thanks. Um. I haven't seen you in a while. How's things? The kids doing well? Work going okay? Melvin still alive?"

Al got a calculating sort of look as he hesitated, this Lawrence was a very different one from the amiable persona of Jan, stripped back close to an icy sort of logic though not quite. There was something of the insect or predator about him though evidently at least a little more intelligent.

His eyes flitted down to the folder and he half smiled as he looked back to Al. People said a lot with what they did with their posture or what they said or more than importantly, they /didn't/ say. He was a creature of voids and absences and of course he saw them everywhere. He made a mental note to go through Noah's things later and see what he could uncover.

"Oh I'm fine." He said with the flat joyless tone of someone who didn't care for small talk one bit. "The boys are well, happy in the house. And you'd know how Melvin was doing wouldn't you? Given the den of depravity you work at."

Al had no idea Lawr had been thinking anything, simply pressing a little tighter against the folder with his arm the longer he felt Lawr's gaze upon it. It wasn't his business.

What Lawr did say though when he saw fit to finally speak, rubbed Al the wrong way. "Actually, I wouldn't seeing as he seems to of fallen off the face of the earth. You wouldn't happen to know anything about that, now, would you?"
PostPosted: Thu Mar 30, 2017 8:58 am

Lawrence gave Al a half-lidded bored sort of look for the implication. "If I had killed him, the higher ups would certainly know by now would they not? I'm hardly unobserved." He shook his head, going back to what he was writing for a moment.

"And if him vanishing was anything to do with my indirect actions, then why would I know about it? He hasn't spoken to me since he showed up drunk on my doorstep and was escorted home."

He raised that slender eyebrow again. "What exactly does it matter to you anyway?"

Showed up... drunk... "******** liar," he snapped irritably. Without the context, one could easily misunderstand exactly who Al was accusing of lying. "He said he was going home, we should have followed his dumb a**." Some clarity, at least.

"Well what the ******** else happened to him? He disappeared after that. You sure you walked him home and not off a damn cliff?"

"Cause based on s**t I hear, I'd be more apt to believe the latter." Not that he really bought into rumors, especially not on Twitter, but Melvin mentioned some pretty troubling things in passing. He was also generally a credible source of information, generally.

He didn't bother answering Lawr's question about his motives directly, replying with a sharp, "why?" Because seriously, what does that have to do with worrying about someone?
PostPosted: Thu Mar 30, 2017 12:35 pm

Lawrence assumed Al was calling him a liar at first and did his usual looking away dismissively before slowly turning his attention back to him.

"He went back to the dorms. Both Rodney and I took him back. No cliffs. He has been on twitter since." He was used to dealing with this sort of obstinate accusation and wasn't too phased by it.

"And what sort of things did you hear?" he asked, indifferently. "Do enlighten me."

"That's between me and the walls of the bar," His not-so-subtle way of saying 'bartender privilege'. "I will tell you though, some of it was certainly not found on Twitter." He snorted derisively when he said Twitter. "I'm always forgetting to check it." With that he held a finger up at Lawr as if to say 'a moment' before scrolling through his phone to confirm what Lawr claimed and sending Melvin a text directly for good measure. We'll see if he gets an answer while Lawr is being watched. He put the phone away and lowered his finger to pay attention to Lawr again. "Twitter is such a rumor mill," he finally added.

"In any case, can you really blame me for being worried about - I dunno if he'd consider me a friend just yet - so let's just say 'a good tipper'?" He shrugged at Lawr.

"In other words wholly unfounded rumour not at all dissimilar from twitter. Bar banter is hardly more reliable." He yawned, daintily covering his mouth. "You just hear the same things in a different way and from wholly biased sources."

He shrugged. "And yes, I suppose I could say it makes you sound a little nosey."

PostPosted: Thu Mar 30, 2017 3:05 pm

"Actually, reliable drunk sources that proooobably don't remember. They call it truth serum for a reason." His phone buzzed and he held that finger up again. Then typed a hasty reply.

you are either alive or a ******** zombie rn & I'm about to put a b***h down if the answer is zombie

He squinted at his phone a moment then lowered the finger, not bothering to put the phone away this time. "He is being cryptic and depressing as usual. What's your damn side of that whole mess anyway since you seem so keen to have your side told?" He ignored Lawr's comment regarding his nosiness. He was apparently the perfect amount of nosy in his opinion.
