It was a bright, gently breezy afternoon in the canyon, and Sumac thought it'd be rather a shame to waste it away in his den counting herbs. Not to say that that was a waste of time, of course! He had a duty as a medic to make sure he was prepared at all times and the gatherers might get a little cross with him if he ended up needing something urgently due to his own inability to keep his stocks straight... But it was such a nice day! How long had it been since he'd had a little time to himself? There hadn't been any urgent cases today, so surely he wouldn't be missed for a short break.
That in mind, Sumac spread his wings and glided down to the riverbank of the canyon floor.

Spider was already at the riverbank, tail twitching gently as she toyed with an ant. Usually a morning bird, Spider had already attended to most of her tasks and had decided, for now, to settle in the comforts of relaxation. Surely a bask in the sun for a moments time wasn't anything to scuff about?
Her wings shifted as a shadow cast over her, head raising to lock eyes on an unfamiliar face. She hadn't quite taken the time to get to know those around her, yet. "Evening." She faintly greeted, releasing the ant from her paw for the time being.

Sumac blinked in surprise; somehow he had failed to realize he wasnt alone. Well, he supposed there was a reason he'd never gone into child minding! Being observant of his surroundings had never really been a strong suit... And was it really evening already? Huh, he'd been working longer than he thought he had. Maybe it would be best to just call it a day then, instead of taking a short break.
"Hello!" He greeted the stranger cheerfully, folding in his wings. "Wonderful day, isn't it?" And especially wonderful for him; he hadn't seen any patients today for anything worse than a superficial cut.

Her wings raised and fluffed themselves as she adjusted her positioning to see the other more clearly. Folding her paws, she chuckled softly, raising her head to look up at the sky.
"It is." She agreed softly, tail flicking idly as she drank up the suns rays. Lowering her head, she returned her gaze to the other, kneading the ground in content. "Did you come for a drink?"

He hadn't, but now that she mentioned it he realized he was rather parched. "Ah, I suppose so. Mostly thought it would be a shame to spend the whole day sorting herbs." He huffed laughingly, taking a quick drink from the canyon river.Though he should probably go find a gatherer to request a few things before dawn tomorrow, unless there was an outbreak of fevers in the next two days... Some small talk wouldn't hurt. "I'm Sumac, nice to meet you."
